Killer vibe as always. It has been almost two years since I've been here again, and man have I missed it. The crew was awesome and it's always cool to me to see how hands-on every single person on the staff is. I was super hungry so I ordered the Niçoise salad which was perfect. The vinaigrette they have is flavorful and I would put it on anything. Since I've been on a ramen kick lately I had to have the wabi-sabi ramen which I highly recommend to everyone. Drinks! I got the good luck, outlaw and it was bright, not too sweet, gingery. If you're not used to consuming turmeric this may kick start your digestion so be wary if you're going somewhere with limited restrooms. Good for the gut really means GOOD for the gut. If you've never visited this little spot, don't be afraid to try something you may have not heard of. Shuga's is avant-garde dining, with a menu of all different kind of items that somehow still co-exist without sacrificing flavor, but still shows love to that menu item's traditional style. It's not often that I can say every item I order is great but at Shuga's everything really is great. Shuga's Favorite Cafe Tray is an order that could satisfy one's entire meal but is best when shared as a starter or if you are looking for a light meal. The Mediterranean selection with the hummus and tapenade is amazing with the coconut shrimp soup being a must try with its creamy and spiciness. Though I love the almond butter cake the most to add a little dessert to the meal. The Madame of the Pletzl is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. The bagel is perfectly salted and has a wonderful crunch the sandwich needs. The egg melts into the sandwich, mixing with everything it needs to. The ham is fried up to crisp it up a bit but the ham seems to be lacking flavor wise compared to everything else in the sandwich. The Cuban Mojo Sandwich also is an amazing sandwich. The pork shoulder is crisped up nicely and works so well with everything else. The winter soup was a tomato soup with some grilled cheese croutons and it is the best tomato soup I've ever had. The tomato soup isn't puréed, there are noticeable definitions in the tomatoes in the soup. The soup isn't too acidic which is the usual issue in tomato soups. The croutons really amplify this dish on to another level and I just wish there were more in my soup. I can't wait to come back here and my biggest issue will to try and order new things. read more

Came here with a few work colleagues and had a great time. Sat outside in the climate controlled tent (there's a name for it) and it made for an intimate atmosphere. Servers were extremely nice and checked on us often, food and drinks came out pretty quick. Only had a light bite, but the bruschetta was great. Tomatoes and basil were fresh and if they put the whole baguette in front of me I could have eaten it. And then some. This spot was a random choice between my friend and I visiting from out of town, but we were so glad we made that choice. Shuga's was delicious for both food and's drink options (alcoholic and non). I'd gladly come back for these tasty sandwiches and drinks. I got the Montreal Village sandwich, and though I wished the peppered honey was a little stronger, the Brie cheese was melty and salty which balanced the sweetness from the apples, honey, and ham. I don't know a soup and sandwich can be so magical, but Shuga's figured it out! The asparagus soup was probably the best soup I've ever had. I don't know how but it is! I tried to recreate it at home but I couldn't make it as great as this. The sandwich was also really good! Pistachio, garlic, porchetta, mozzarella, basil scallion butter... what's not to love? They expanded the way they use their shrimp soup and made it a base for their ramen. It was a great idea and a huge hit with my group. I had a hot lemon ginger tea that was amazing and the Cao Boi sandwich (like a bahn mi) but it had lemongrass beef. We also had the shrimp soup plot twist. I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich and the soup was good. It is advertised as spicy but I was able to eat it and I can't handle spice. This place was not good. The service was awful and we had cups that still had water in them with they were given to us supposedly be clean for our water, yuck! It was overpriced bland food. Also I came here to try the lamb lollipops and they were not even on the menu. The soup they had was not very good, and I was thinking it would be the best thing ever since it is one main soup they would need to get right. I never got a refill on my iced tea. Our waiter was really non-existant and then tried to come by and be super nice when he gave us the bill to help with his tip. As a visitor to Colorado Springs, I'm already missing Shuga's. I came in for both lunch and dinner during my trip and wished I had time to try the whole menu. There's a cozy garden yurt out back that offers additional seating. It's a unique, welcoming place with real personality. The staff clearly enjoy working together--it felt like a fun, supportive, family-like crew. I was lucky to be served by Missy, who made my day. I chatted with the chef at the bar after his shift; he was totally delightful and he clued me into his favorite local spots. Super cute, super cool, and super yummy. Loved that we stopped in today for a gorgeous fall lunch with friends. First, props to the staff as Shuga's was packed to the gills and yet, they still continued to seat folks and find nooks and cranny to offer. They operated like a well oiled machine and no, attentiveness to us, checking on how things were going and even checking the water levels on the table didn't suffer. Second, loved our waiter. He was such a helpful dude to get just the right menu items in front of us. We trusted him with our final selections and he was spot on. I ordered Shuga's Fav Tray and man, there is a reason it's called their "favorite." This tray had it all - the salad was really tasty, all the way to the almond butter cake. It has been over 30 years since my last visit to CS, but was looking forward to the beautiful outdoors, cooler temps and great food. After a morning of exploring the outdoors, we searched for a unique but not heavy lunch, something special. Shuga kept popping up and we decided to give it a try. Shuga is a non-assuming old house packed with patrons laughing, engaging and ordering lots of dishes. The small staff hustles and has a good grip on meeting your dining needs. The inside is decorated with a Halloween theme. The menu was small and packed with delicious and flavorful combinations. We ordered the half Cuban sandwich with spicy Brazilian coconut shrimp soup. A French roll with roasted pork shoulder, black forest ham, Swiss cheese, dill pickle and mustard. The sandwich was pressed and the perfect size for lunch. They hit it out of the park with attention to detail. The small bowl of spicy Brazilian coconut shrimp soup was impressive and memorable. Great job! We also ordered the Soleil Parisien salad with flank steak, apple, blue cheese, fried egg, crispy red quinoa, orange confit, greens, pistachios and grilled bread. This was the show stealer. We will definitely be back for the salad alone. The creativity of the menu and choices needs to be recognized, OUTSTANDING!
