For one company we interviewed it was LP (engineered wood), for two companies it was Hardie (fiber cement), and for the last company, Superior Industries, it was a material we hadn't heard of before: Gentek ALIGN Composite Cladding (aka Alside ASCEND Composite Cladding). I was initially skeptical because I hadn't come across it in my research. How good could it be? Turns out, amazing. Really glad I called Mike to come take a look, as otherwise we would have ended up spending a lot more to get a not-quite-as-good product. Superior Industries replaced all of our siding, soffits, and facia, and aluminum-wrapped all new trim boards for us. They did precise, high-quality work and it really shows. This has been the nightmare contractor experience everyone dreads…read more We hired Chris to redo our roof and gutters, paint the house, and fix a few screens after hail damage. I wish I had paid attention to the warning signs - often had to call multiple times to get a call back, he ignored emails for weeks, and would show up 3 hours later than he said and sometimes not at all, with no communication. After we paid an upfront deposit for the work, it became even more difficult to get a response. I had to call multiple times a day to finally get a crew out to paint. The house was painted, but the crew left tools and nails (literally dozens) all over our yard and driveway. They found multiple issues that Chris said he would address and never did. I told him I had purchased new lights and numbers to put on after painting, and asked multiple times to have an old satellite dish removed and discarded, and none of that was done. But it only got worse from there! Chris did not answer emails or phone calls for months after that. We paid him in August, watched dozens of new roofs go up over the summer, fall and winter, and finally in February he replied to an email saying he "shuts down work in the winter" and assuring me he would get to our roof in April. April came and went and he did not respond to a single email or call. We have lost thousands of dollars we paid as a deposit for work that was never done and we have not received any response about a refund. Please do not waste your time and money like we did.
