    Ocean view balcony

We stayed in room 314 over this past weekend. The room was clean and comfortable. It had a full kitchen with dishes and cooking utensils, even a few spices. It was just 2 of us, but could definitely accommodate a family. It has a bedroom with a king bed, a queen bed by the ocean window in the living area and a full size sofa bed. We enjoy the fireplace in the living area as well. We will definitely be back!

    Room 313

Room 313. This is by no means a condo, but more of an old run down Motel 8 hotel. Room was very outdated with early 90s hotel furniture. Pigeons were nesting on our balcony and poo everywhere. There's no door mats to wipe the feet so probably tracking in poo onto the carpet. Kitchen had 1 wine glass and 3 forks and hardly any kitchen utensils. The linoleum kitchen floor felt sticky like it had never been mopped. There was not coffee table and the Murphy bed was such an eyesore. The hot tub/pool area was gross and had grim around the rim. The property doesn't have any where to hose down sandy feet and shoes so we had to track it into our room and wash off in the shower. Only decent thing about this room was that it was top floor and corner unit and memories were made.....but won't be back.

This is just an idea of what u get here.

This place is in disrepair. Nothing nice about this place other than being on the beach. Furniture is old and worn out and has a musty smell coming from the closets. Overall I would sleep in the car if I had to stay here again for any amount of time.

To preface this review, my family and I have stayed at D'Sands before and had a good experience. Our recent stay was quite different. We checked in at 4pm on July 4th, and were relatively happy with the room. As we were getting ready for bed, we noticed Lice on the mattress of the queen bed. We then called the after hours staff to report the issue, and someone came to assist us within the hour. They disposed of the lice, and offered to change all the bedding. Given the scenario, we absolutely did not feel comfortable sleeping in the bed, and so they gave us an inflatable air mattress to sleep on for the night (all hotels in the area, including D'Sands were booked solid for the Holiday weekend). My wife and I got about 2 hours of sleep on the air mattress. The next morning we showed up at the front desk when they open at 10am (there was a sign that said someone would be back by 11am). When the front desk attendant was back, we outlined the situation, they called the management team, and we were offered a "free cancellation for our 2nd and 3rd night," but that we would have to pay full price for the first night + a cleaning fee. To net this out, our room had lice, we slept on an air mattress, and it not only cost us $577, but our kids were devastated that our vacation was cut short to one night. In addition, we also had to buy $40 worth of lice shampoo and other materials, and quarantine our luggage when we got home. We spoke with the General Manager (Clarissa Smith) this morning, and that conversation was less than pleasant as well. Essentially she implied that we may have brought the lice, and since there was no way to prove that we didn't they were not interested in refunding the first night stay. As someone that spends 100 nights a year in hotels, I can honestly say that this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. And frankly, I'm all for giving people the benefit of the doubt, and we're extremely understanding people, but our experience at the D'Sands and with their management staff was flat out unacceptable. The views are great, but do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else during your next stay in Lincoln City, or on the Oregon Coast.

We go down to the Dsand's motel ever January. You can't always plan on the weather being sunny in January but if it isn't all of the D'sands rooms look right out to the beach and watching a storm in a nice warm room. This January we had four beautiful days where I was able to take these photos. I will have to wait for next year to see a storm, but everyday it is enjoyable to watch the waves break on the shore. An amazing find! I sooo skeptical about choosing this location as I am a hotel snob. First of all, do not let the "motel" title fool you! These are very nicely remodeled condo's, right on the beach! We stayed in the "Queen Studio Suite". The price was outstanding! The front desk person, Jenny, greeted us with the most friendly attitude ever! She had put our names on the marquis as it was our 22 anniversary! The area is full of restaurants, as well as so much coastal activity! Internet was very quick! Our room allowed us to park right outside the door to our room. No stairs for this room! Don't miss out on this property!

Two RV's with people sleeping in them. The one in the back kept running it's generator and had the slides out.

If they are full, don't worry, they are open to you parking your RV in the already over full parking lot and just staying in them. Here is a picture of two RV's with people staying in them. Last night people were circling the lot looking for places and ended up, creatively, creating there own. This place changed its model this year and I have to say that after coming here for the past 15 years, we are going out today to find a new place we can start using. Also, they say "No Pets", but no one is here to enforce so by all means, bring them with. One couple has a puppy that I am sure is peeing all over, but like I said, that ok. Things I liked: the ocean, check-in was easy, cooking stuff. The esthetics of the room were very interesting.

The teens loved lounging, reading to the sound of the ocean, and sleeping with the door open.

My family stayed here on the Fourth of July weekend for a few nights. We had been traveling from Northern California, up The I-5 corridor, Columbia Gorge, Astoria and down the coast for two weeks. This was by far our favorite place! As parents, we could sit in the room and balcony and still keep an eye on our kids (9, 13, 16) playing on the beach. The beds were comfortable and clean. The kitchenette has everything we needed. The cleaning staff was courteous and helpful. The pool was enough and the hot tub was lovely to read in. D Sands was the perfect beach getaway for resting and recharging before another week in the at heading south down the coast. We will surely be back.

We were only there one night, but I have to tell you, it was a really nice hotel experience! I reserved the Family (fireplace) suite. The hotel has two floors and this was on floor 2. We had a nice roomy balcony with two chairs for sitting in while soaking in the beauty. The room itself was really large, with a king bed in the main and a queen, I believe, in a separate room. TVs in the main room and the bedroom. The fireplace was gas, gave off nice heat at night as it got chilly outside, and added to the ambiance. This hotel has breakfast! This was also a pleasant experience. They had the usual cereals and yogurts, but also had big waffles and biscuits and gravy! The food was good! We brought a bottle of wine ourselves, but I did notice they sell wine and beer in the lobby, which is nice, right? I definitely would (and will) stay there again the next time we are in the area. I forgot to take pics of the room itself. Sorry about that. You can check out their hotel website to see it. The next time I stay there I will fix this! In the meantime, here are a couple shots from the balcony of our room. The staff were warm, friendly, and helpful. All in all, a really nice time. Thanks, Coho!

We did not utilize a majority of the amenities at the hotel, including the WiFi, fire pits, pool, or restaurant. Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent. It is far enough from Highway 101 that the traffic is not disruptive, but close enough that amenities and activities in Lincoln City are easily accessible. The view of the beach from our room was excellent, and beach access (via several flights of stairs) was convenient. Our room door was equip with a deadbolt, chain lock, and lock in the doorknob. For the most part, the room was clean and quiet, and the mattress and pillows were comfortable. Parking was convenient. Cons: The furniture in the room was not particularly comfortable. The furnishings were either outdated or lacking. The TV was difficult to use. Hand soap for the bathroom was not made available (but, "facial soap" was). The toilet and the sink in the bathroom both leaked/ran after use. Concerns: Our room was not ready and available to us at check-in time. When arriving to our room, after being asked to wait in the lobby, the room smelled strongly of cleaning solutions. During our inspection of the bed, the linens were obviously fresh and clean, but they were covered in hair (like, the laundry facilities they use for housekeeping aren't totally clean). These experiences dropped my rating from 4 stars to 3.

The room has a mini-fridge and a microwave. They have a great little sink for filling big water bottles, making tea, etc. no trying to fill the coffee pot in the bathroom sink. The room was also impeccably clean. Rooms that aren't fully cleaned can really put me off about a place. Not here. They seem to have high standards for everything they do here-- and everyone they hire. A gentleman who was from housekeeping even walked me to the elevator when I got turned around as I went to check out. He noticed my hands were full and hit the button for the lobby for me. As I was writing this review, I got a phone call. I had forgotten my favorite lunch box in the fridge! I hadn't gotten terribly far, so I still have time to go back. If you're on the fence, book it. One more neat thing: I got a way better rate booking directly with Starfish Manor. It shocked me, but it bears mentioning. I almost always use Expedia, but while I was looking for more room info on booking, I was delighted to find this. I will 100% be back. I recommend this highly. Our experience at Starfish Manor Hotel fell shockingly short of basic decency. We checked in on Friday, July 3rd, and returned at 10:30 PM to find the bathroom and shower covered in hair. With no other rooms available, the front desk agent (Stacy) refused to call housekeeping and offered zero solutions. I was forced to ask for cleaning supplies myself. She delivered rags, a spray bottle, and a nearly empty roll of paper towels. As healthcare professionals who understand basic hygiene standards, we had to clean someone else's hair out of our own hotel bathroom just to use the shower safely. Stacy promised housekeeping would handle it first thing Saturday morning (7/4). Instead, we returned at 11:00 PM to find the bathroom completely untouched. Once again, we had to disinfect it ourselves late at night. The worst part of this stay was the management's appalling response at checkout on 7/5: 1- Gavin read the notes, brushed us off, and offered a measly 20% credit for making guests do manual labor on their vacation. He then ignored us to talk to the Assistant Manager, Jaime. 2 -Jaime took over with zero apologies. Instead of taking accountability, she claimed it was our responsibility to follow up on their broken promise. 3- She insultingly suggested the bathroom "must not have been that dirty" since we stayed, and told us we simply could have gone to another hotel--completely ignoring the reality that it was a busy, sold-out 4th of July holiday weekend and finding another room at 11:00 PM was impossible. She then stated they would have only "helped us clean" the second night. Guests should never be expected to "help" clean a room they paid for. 4- Jaime ended the interaction by defiantly telling us to "do whatever we want" because she wasn't doing anything else for us. I noticed a sign in the lobby warning about a "zero-tolerance policy for aggressive customers." After experiencing their defensive, gaslighting, and entirely unapologetic management style, it is clear that what they label as "aggression" is actually just paying customers expressing justifiable frustration at an utter lack of common sense and basic cleanliness. ***** The management completely blames the consumer for their own operational and cleanliness failures.
