I go to D Squared every once in a while to grab something, and have had a great experience every time. I usually get chai tea, and it is excellent. The ambiance is really great in the place. I have never stayed in there to chill (I always get my drink to go), but I think it would be a great environment to plug away at some work on the computer or read a book. The people that work there are always really relaxed and friendly, and make you feel right at home. The prices are a little higher than other places, but that is because the quality is better than other places. So if you want a dirt cheap coffee, go get your Dunkin Donuts and don't come here. But if you want a quality beverage, come to D Squared. It is definitely the best in town. read more

Yesterday was my first time here - first time driving through Exeter for that matter. Charmed by the town, and very pleased with my coffee stop here. Friendly service. Ambience of a typical cozy little independent coffee shop. I tried the Mexican mocha. Not sure I would order it again, but only because it turns out chile in my coffee is not my thing. I could still appreciate it for what it was - a perfect blend of smooth espresso, milk, sweet chocolate and spicy chile. The spice doesn't hit your tongue at all. You don't notice it until you swallow and your throat starts a slow gentle burn. After my order, I spent more time checking out the menu. They have NH maple syrup you can add to your coffee. Can't tell you how happy this makes me as I do this at home and have NEVER seen it in a coffee shop. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that I they made an error with my order. As soon as you open the door, you get hit with a mix of light, aromatic, citrusy fragrances along with coffee undertones- very earthy & refreshing! Spent much time in Italy and France and generally nothing compares to a coffee that you would buy in Italy...except D Squared. My husband and I have been here 3 times now. I have gotten the Iced Latte every time. Its the best Iced Latte I've ever had. Definitely worth the price. We went in yesterday and my husband ordered an Iced Mocha. I had a sip and it was by far the best coffee drink I've ever tasted. I'll be ordering that from now on. We stopped here on Sunday. We ordered a mocha, an expresso and a latte. Each one of them was barely lukewarm. The service was exceptionally slow and they also arrived at separate times. The server was less than pleasant. When I buy a coffee in a place whose main product is coffee drinks, I expect it to be very fresh and steaming hot. A huge disappointment. An awesome addition to Exeter! Dan and his coffee loving team bring an extremely high level of coffee knowledge and proficiency to town. Their espressos are exquisite and they flavor all their lattes etc with homemade, natural syrups. No cup-of-chemicals here! Their baked goods are made close-by by a boutique baker with plenty of GF options, fresh fruit and yogurt are usually available. Fun seating for small groups, grab a seat at the bar, or sit facing the street for excellent people watching. Clean, hospitable, neatly decorated... Yeah I love this place. read more

Admittedly, I am an asshole about coffee. Having worked in small cafes in Boston for a couple years my definition of "good coffee" is a bit more than an extra extra from Dunkies. So naturally I was skeptical that there would be drinkable coffee in Exeter, NH, a town with a population the size of my neighborhood. D^2 absolutely proved my assumptions incorrect. I ordered a cappuccino and the milk was the perfect texture and temperature, with latte art to boot. A few minutes later I noticed The staff playing around with a syphon and excitedly asked if they were going to be serving syphon coffee? The staff member replied that it had been a birthday gift and he was just starting to play around with it. He even offered me a few sips of the first batches he made! I later returned to try one of their pour overs which was decent but I attribute the lack of quality to the beans themselves as the staff are obviously well trained and carefully prepare each beverage with skill. This place is a true gem, thanks guys for proving me wrong! read more

This is bar none the BEST coffee in the NH seacoast. Fresh-ground pour over bar, delicious home-made chai and the best espresso drinks I can remember. The foam on the caps is velvety delicious, the mochas are tasty but not too sweet, and they make the steamed milk just right for my kids. I ran a coffee shop in California for two years, and these guys do it as well as it can be done. If you love coffee, go here. read more

The BEST latte in New Hampshire! D Squared Java is a welcomed addition to the Exeter area. The ingredients are high quality and fresh including coffee from New Harvest and Red Rover, along with milk from Hatchland Dairy. The syrups and the chai is made in house and all very natural. Service is friendly and professional everyone seems well trained and enjoy what they do. The atmosphere is a place where you would want to sit and relax . That as sterile as Starbucks but not grungy like some other coffee shop it just fits in perfect in the town. Only negatives are the iced americano was not good, very weak and had a weird plastic taste to it. You are best to stick with the lattes or pour over. Really cool coffee spot in downton Exeter. It has all the essentials including free Wi-Fi, a bathroom, helpful staff, good drink menu, plenty of seating and some outlets. I got a maple syrup latte which was excellent. I also later got an herbal zen tea which was standard. The music was good and atmosphere was great for people to hang out and/ or study. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because of the food I ordered. I got the egg & cheese sandwich with tomato added on top. It came on an english muffin. It was sub-par. The eggs didn't seem fresh and it lacked flavor. Maybe other food on the menu is better. I can't speak to that. Ultimately I would come back (if I lived in Exeter) and would just order something different. Really good experience. read more

We have had apple pie, blueberry pie, and various breads and cookies. Also, cheese plate, oatmeal, and egg on English Muffin - ALL good. The girl at the counter was very patient with me when I explained I had no idea what I was doing when I tried to order a cup. She found out what I like and made a few suggestions. She was spot on! I love the atmosphere the most, it is a cozy little spot. I have had the sweetened and unsweetened chai on the two occasions I've been there. The cups are warmed and the chai is made there on the premises. It is really good if you like the unprocessed spicy flavor! It is a great spot to hang out with a friend if a table is open (fair warning). Be ready to spend a bit more too, if you're a dunks person this probably is not for you. I am a former cafe owner and coffee roaster. I am passionate about coffee! This is by far the best coffee and coffee house I have yet to visit in New Hampshire! The espresso was as sweet as you will find in Italy - none of this Seattle-style stuff! The staff was not only friendly, but they actually knew what they were talking about! What a wonderful experience. I will go out of my way to visit here again and again. And Exeter is a very cute town with lots of great finds! Hippo certainly made a mistake on their 2017 listing. There's nothing like a freshly-brewed iced coffee to go on a hot day, or a delicious hot pour over or cappuccino at one of the cafe's small tables in the winter. The staff is friendly and quite knowledgeable about the coffees and teas they serve and can help you choose a drink you will enjoy. Each one is meticulously and individually prepared, so don't expect to walk in and walk out 30 seconds later with your drink.
