I was so excited to try this place after having had the BEST crispy pork belly kare-kare I've ever tasted. I grew up eating Filipino food, and kare-kare was actually a dish I never really cared for. But I recently had it at a party that was catered from here on a Saturday, and I honestly couldn't stop thinking about it afterward. The following week, I was raving about it to my sister-in-law (our partners are Filipino), and since we were in the area, we decided to stop by. We walked in right at 11 when they opened. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing from the start. We weren't greeted very warmly by the older woman taking orders. Maybe she was having an off day, or maybe we happened to walk in right as they opened, but as my SIL was ordering, she seemed visibly annoyed with us. What really stood out, though, was when two older Filipino women came in shortly after. Her demeanor completely changed, and she became much warmer and more hospitable toward them. I don't want to assume someone's intentions, but as someone who isn't Filipino, it honestly made us feel very unwelcome and discriminated against. It was especially disappointing because we genuinely love Filipino food and regularly eat dishes like papaitan and tortang talong with our Filipino family. We weren't just randomly ordering unfamiliar food, these are dishes we know and love. And my whole life I've never experienced any negative interactions with any Filipino, ever. They're some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. We ended up getting our food to go. The tortang talong was pretty greasy and the tapsilog was decent. And I have to give credit where credit is due: the crispy kare-kare is still the best I've ever had. That alone is what would bring me back for the food. Unfortunately, the service is what keeps me from rating this place higher. Based on my experience, I'd recommend this as more of a takeout spot only. I liked the Philippine foods we tried in BC. When we found this one, we wanted to try it and compare. I am glad we did. The pork hock was crispy as expected. Even though it was little dried and hard on the edges. Could be expected due to the process of oven then fried. But, it seems it was chopped up before fried, hence more crispy edges than fried first and chopped up later. That is my assumption. It came with a large bowl of rice and more than enough for two. I am so unhappy with the portion of tapsilog I received today. The amount of beef was small, the eggs were both small, and even the tomatoes & mango side was so small in portion! They're trying to cut corners with food cost and it is so obvious. Keep serving plates like this and your business will slowly fade away. Fil Cuisine used to be one of my favorite spots, but something has definitely changed--whether it's new owners or a new chef, the quality is no longer there. The sinigang came out only lukewarm and completely missed the mark on flavor, with no real sourness at all. The bagoong had an off taste that made it hard to enjoy, and the sisig was the biggest letdown--it wasn't sizzling when served, the meat was chewy like it had been sitting around too long, and instead of the classic tiny crispy pieces, it came out in big square cuts that completely ruined the texture. To make things worse, the rice was served cold, which just added to the disappointment. What was once a place I could count on for comforting Filipino food has become a huge letdown. The lechon kawali taste is hard to mess up, but it was delivered with the wrong sauce and cut into obscenly large, inedible sizes; asking for a knife resulted only in a butter knife and more frustration. The kare kare was grainy and while the BBQ chicken skewers were sitting in a bed of sauce that was too goopy, sweet and unappealing. Internally there's nothing more than tables within a sticky atmosphere of 99 cent cheap smelling lemon cleaner. I love the home cooked taste and look of the traditional Filipino food that you can expect here at FIL CUISINE. I've eaten at all their locations and it's nice how they taste the same. I live closer to the newer Lynnwood location and frequent this restaurant more often. I haven't tasted anything here that isn't good. If you eat at the restaurant, the rice is all you can eat. How awesome is that compared to other establishments where they nickle and dime you for everything! Don't get me wrong, the prices here aren't cheap. However, the portions are generous and the service is friendly. I've yet to have a bad experience. I guess, having to wait longer than normal when they are super slammed (like on weekends) with customers waiting for a table and filling to go and pick-up orders. read more

I wrote a negative review last October and decided that rumors of declining quality and service were true. I hadn't been back since. But I needed to order and pickup food for a potluck, and FilCuisine is the nearest place to get Filipino food for me. So I gave it another chance. Pancit bihon and lechon kawali were excellent. Now, service is still an issue. There was one server/cashier and I felt really sorry for her. She was doing her best to keep a smile on her face, and I wanted to give her flowers or something. This used to be a regular spot for us to get our fill of Filipino cuisine. Unfortunately, the last three times we attended have been a huge let down. The first of the last two visits started with a waitress (short and very skinny, light skin tone) taking our order and then leaving, need having submitted the order. We waited for 35 minutes before someone came by and asked us if we had been helped, they took our order again after the fact. This wouldn't be that huge of an issue had we not been the ONLY customers in the restaurant at the time. The most recent visit, everything on the menu was "Not available" there was maybe 2 dishes available out of the entire menu and instead of telling our group that they would just say "that's not available" until we mentioned something that was. In addition, the SAME waiters that took our order the first time was our waitress this time. She has a nasty attitude and seemed very very bothered whenever someone comes in, she snapped at my father in law who was born and raised in the Philippines after he said "huh?" To her having not heard what she said. After the last three visits, myself and my wife will not be visiting this place anymore and have made an effort to discover other Filipino cuisine in the area. I heard there was a Fil Cuisine location up north in Lynnwood, which doesn't really help me because I don't live close to Lynnwood (nor do I live close to the OG location in Kent), but while I was up here for an event, we had to check out what is the best Filipino food in the Seattle area. Unlike it's original location in Kent, the Lynnwood restaurant is more spacious and bright with one center room and a large counter. Plenty of parking, too, since it's in the same lot as H-Mart. For the three of us on a Sunday night, we easily were able to get a table. However, we had no luck in getting cassava cake or any of the desserts that are usually in the case as this kind of stuff sells out by mid-day at the latest. So, yeah, no cassava cake. BUT, the rest of the food was delicious. It tasted just like what's cookin' at the Kent location. We ordered the pork adobo, pancit canton with shrimp, bicol express and sisig. I was surprised that they still had the sisig available with how late we arrived, but we lucked out. Food didn't take long to get and everything was absolutely delicious. Pork adobo was flavorful with the tender pork belly. The pancit with shrimp had lots of lemon-y flavor, which is how I like my pancit, and the sisig with the fried egg was solid. But my favorite, the bicol express was perfect. I love the coconut flavor with some heat on this dish. Rice is provided and refills are complimentary. I've said it about Kent and I'll say it here - Fil Cuisine reminds me of mom's cooking. At least, it's damn close to it. After last week's disastrous meal at Otium/Salo Salo (Filipino pop-up), I searched and found Fil Cuisine in Lynnwood (and Kent). The reviews mentioned accolades of their food with 'meh', if not outright bad, service. With that in mind, we purposely went early, 5pm, to avoid crowds. The place had several seated tables and a steady flow of take-outs. We were met with warm auntie/tita family-friendly service. They are full-service order from the table restaurant; you order from the counter for take-out and the packaged foods. We ordered a huge spread for two people, literally everything we liked in the menu, re-creating the comfort foods fest that hubby's parents regularly made during their Filipino parties. Every dish felt like a taste of home. The restaurant is quite large with simple décor. The food arrives as they are made, so don't expect everything delivered at the same time. Parking is plentiful in the same lot area as Hmart and the movie theater. The Food: Lechon Kawali, $18.95 - 4 Stars Menu: Roasted then deep-fried pork belly If you like crispy, crunchy skin, you're in for a treat. This is blistered to perfection. The catch is that it is pork belly, and it is oozing fat with little meat. Best as a sharing dish. Kare Kare, $20.95 - 5 Stars Menu: Beef oxtail & shank cooked in peanut sauce with eggplant and long beans Don't tell my in-laws, but I like the version in Fil Cuisine better with a thicker sauce and veggies that are not over-cooked. FC cooks their oxtail in the sauce, then separately adds the veggies to prevent the veggies from turning into mush in the sauce. Pansit Bihon with shrimp, $18.95 - 5 Stars Menu: Stir-fried cornstarch noodles with veggies: celery, carrots, and cabbage, with protein choice The thin noodle is the version that I like the most. To keep the noodles from sticking together, there's a touch of extra sauce. I added peppers for a kick. The ratio of noodles, veggies, and shrimps are excellent! Pansit Canton with chicken, $18.95 - 4.5 Stars Menu: Stir-fried wheat flour noodles with veggies: celery, carrots, and cabbage, with protein choice This is hubby's preferred version. He liked his, but I thought the noodles are slightly overcooked. Again, the ratio of noodles, veggies, and shrimps are excellent! Lumpia, veggie, $6 - 4 Stars While the meat (pork or beef) version is the traditional lumpia (short and skinny), I prefer the veggie version for a bigger bit. Their fillings are somewhat mushy and undefined, but the flavor is very good. Tortang Talong, $9.50 - 4 Stars Menu: Roasted & fried eggplant omelet This dish is mega comfort food. It's simple and very delicious. Their more common choice is to eat with the ground pork option, but I don't like ground meat texture. I generally prefer this dish to end with high heat as the last step to add some toastiness on both sides. Coach's Chicken, $12.50 - 4.5 Stars Menu: slow roasted and grilled chicken, with a light bbq sauce While Fil Cusinie also offers boneless chicken on skewers, I much prefer bone-in chicken. I've had Fil Cuisine bookmarked on Yelp for several months, so seeing them pop up on UberEats when I wasn't sure what I was in the mood for was a win. What I ordered: BBQ Chicken stick, Pork and Chicken Pancit Bihon, Pork Lumpia. The best tasting of the three was the BBQ chicken, however, the packaging was an absolute disaster, arriving wrapped in foil with no end and no beginning, not being able to tell which end was up or down, and leaking sticky, thick BBQ sauce all over the place. There's GOT to be a better way to package this for to-go orders. It also came with a huge container of rice, although I specified no rice. The chicken was very nicely cooked, and the taste of the sauce was great. I'd order it again, but definitely not as takeout. The Pancit was what I was looking forward to the most, but I'd say it was just ok. Three stars. It was hot, and the ratio of veggies and meat to noodles was spot-on, but I felt like it lacked flavor. The meat had that taste that it gets when it's been reheated too many times. It was a huge portion, though, and it was still piping hot when it got here, so that was a plus. The lumpia were also good, but the sweet chili sauce provided had also exploded inside the bag all over my order, so I had to eat them plain which was a bummer. Perhaps this was the driver's fault, but it would not had happened if the sauce was placed into the container with the lumpia to start with. As such, it was at the very top of my order, inside the bag by the knot they had tied - of course it was going to explode when carried by the handle. I will definitely try them again, but only for dine-in next time. I thought about giving three stars due to the absolute mess unpacking this made in my kitchen and all over my hands, but considering this is a family run place and my first visit, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. We arrived and it was pretty busy and a great indicator the food was good. It's got a very casual "five guys" kinda dine in feel so don't expect a romantic dining experience. They do take reservations. Which we did to make sure we'd make our movie in time. Staff: not very welcoming or friendly. Took awhile for someone to come back for me to ask for one which I did get promptly. Appetizer: we ordered the pork lumpia. Small and crispy but very yummy. Salad: ordered their tossed salsa which had small fresh cubes of mago. W a honey mustard dressing that wasn't typical but was quite refreshing and a perfect pairing w the salad. Entree 1: chicken adobo and rice. Just ok. Had a strange taste we couldn't quite identify but didn't taste like a traditional adobo. I thought it was almost Smokey. Regardless couldn't put our finger in it and was just ok. But serving size was good for 1 person. Also came w a big bowl of white rice. Entree 2: porketa. Oh my oh my. Delicious. It's served chopped up. We ordered "family" size and quite frankly there's so much left over the 3 of us can prob eat for 2-3 more days. This was tender, flavorful, crispy on the outside. So amazing. Side dish: pancit. We got the traditional one w a combo of chicken Pork and shrimp. It was perfectly made. Noodles were soft and flavorful. Little bits of meat and cabbage in every bite. Family size was Again enormous & Prob can eat this all week. Both filling yet light. The fresh lemon squeeze gave a perfect brightness to the noodles. I enjoyed seeing many Filipinos in the place. And watching all the delicious food they ordered while we waited for ours. So many options and so many things sounded delicious but we'll wait for next time. Pricing is good especially for the quantity n quality of food. Only 3because I would come back for the food NOT the service. Infact likely would grab and go. Not only were the flavors and ingredients different, it was made with a cheaper cut of beef When we mentioned this to the waitress (that it didn't even have tomatoes) thinking she may have accidentally dropped off another customer's order to us on accident, she said the dish was indeed kaldereta, and we must have been ordering something else all the other times. Pork Lumpia (4 pieces) Mushy and bland. Much better versions from multiple other places, even up here. Pork Barbecue Also tough and dry, glaze too sweet, and salad sugary. Overall, I had a bite of everything and stopped. Nothing was wrong with it necessarily, just far outside my personal tastes--or maybe it was a mood thing. I was excited to try fil cuisine as they look very authentic. I was happy to find that during my visit there were a lot of titas and Titos there who were enjoying the food. I got a few main dishes with my friends and everything was very solid. The sisig was full of flavor. The lumpia came in 4 per serving and was delicious - I would've gotten more orders. We wanted to try the porketa but they needed 2 more hours so instead, we got the lechon kawali which was good but not amazing. We ordered 3 dishes each time, a beef stew, veggie stew, and pork belly with dine in. All 3 were fresh and tasty. They tasted like home cooking. However, the take out food tasted much worse, we got their fried noddles, it had a very weird taste. Among thinking about it, the taste was from lard. They used a lot of it and probably not very fresh lard to have that strong or a taste. I would say the dish was not pleasant at all. Second, we got the peanut oxtail stew. The whole dish had a strong burnt taste. We did not find any burnt pieces but it was probably burnt at the bottom of the wok. Given how bad the takeout was, I am not sure I would go back again. The large menu serving up classic filipino fare is the same from what I can gather as the Kent location. Lechon kawali: super crispy skin and juicy meat! I don't know how they get the skin so incredibly crunchy without drying out the meat. So good! Pork rib sinigang: sadly, they ran out of the pompano fish sinigang already. Pork rib version is still work getting! Tangy broth is really good Bbq stick: sort of a must have at any large filipino party along with lumpia. You can buy by the stick. Nicely charred flavor! Filcuisine always serves such delicious food! Every time we buy and eat, we love it. The Kaldereta is meaty and yummy, though it's interesting that it doesn't have carrots or green/red peppers. Finally tried this place out after seeing it on DoorDash for awhile. It's in a great location across the street from Alderwood Mall and has plenty of parking. The inside is very clean and the people who work there are very friendly. The menu has your typical Filipino food, adobo, dinuguan, etc. Sat down and ordered the Lechon Kawali, Chicken Adobo, Papaitan and Pork Adobo Fried Rice. Let me start by saying the portions are huge. Ordered the regular size of the Lechon and the pieces were ginormous (Also, super crispy skin the the meat was very tender, 10/10). The food was fire but to me, the Chicken Adobo was just so-so. I thought it was a tad dry and the sauce was kind of lacking; I'll probably try the Pork Adobo next time instead! It was just me and my dad eating all this food so we definitely had a bunch of leftovers. All 4 dishes could've probably fed a family of 4, so no complaints there. All in all, it's a great spot if you're craving Filipino food. Will be back again for sure. read more

Good Filipino food, service is good , you don't have to wait long if you come on weekdays when it's not the peak days. Ambiance just relaxed, but be warned it's a bit noisier than your typical American restaurants during peak hours for Filipinos love to talk while sharing a meal. read more
