For the price, It was ok at best and this is coming from someone that grew up on home cooked Jamaican food. For appetizers I ordered fried plantains, coconut shrimp, and a beef patty. The fried plantains were good. The coconut shrimps had a sweet taste and were just okay. The beef patty I found odd because there was a dab of barbecue on top of it. I assume that they are tailoring the cuisine for the community. For my entree I ordered the ox tail stew which came with rice and beans with buttered vegetables. The presentation looked authentic but the flavor was lacking. The stew was salty and I struggled to eat it. There was barbecue drizzled on the boiled cabbage (buttered vegetables) which I found kind of odd for Jamaican cuisine. I will give it another shot and try their ackee and salt fish on Sunday. This place is soo cool! It feels like you are stepping into the Caribbean. The vibes are bright colors and smiling faces. I got a chance to hear from the owner and he is such a sweet and hard-working man. I was able to sample multiple dishes. The only Jamaican food I had previously had was a patty. The Jamaican patties here are clutch, crunchy on the outside and warm gooey on the inside. I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed the goat. Came here for a work lunch after looking through Yelp to find a good spot for lunch. My buddy recommended it, so had to check it out. They do a good job with cleaning and masks, so we ate inside. We ordered an appetizer of the Jerk Wings, and then entrees of Jerk Pork. The Jerk Wings, were FANTASTIC! I honestly want to go back and order a batch of those as my lunch. They are smoked whole wings (so both sections still connected) and then Jerk sauce drizzled on top. The flavor is so good...highly recommend them. Next came out our entrees which we both picked Jerk Pork. This was basically smoked pulled pork with a Jerk rub on it and some Jerk sauce drizzled on it. Tasted perfectly good, nothing wrong with it....it was just what I expect from smoked pulled pork. It came with a bed of rice and beans (which was more of just rice with a few beans here and there). You also get a side to choose from, and lets face it...when in Rome...you get the plantains. They were epic. Fried plantains were perfectly cooked. Sweet and crispy with a soft middle like they should be. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to eat some Jamaican food. Worth the drive! I love Caribbean food, and have been wanting to try Da Blue lagoon for quite some time. It was a 30 minute drive but well worth it! I had the combo of coconut curry chicken and goat curry and it was exceptional. The star was the coconut curry chicken, and the Mac and cheese was also fantastic. We have eaten here twice now and it is consistently awesome. Our first experience was dining-in with a party of 6 and the staff is SO friendly and helpful on the dishes and choices. We ordered different things to try and everything was delicious.l (and efficient!) Ordered carry-out for 5 people and it was ready in 30 minutes which I find quite acceptable since again, we all ordered different things. Oxtail stew delicious and melts in your mouth -- so tender! Jerk pork -- juicy, moist, smoky, spicy to die for! Curry goat -- OMG hands down my favorite!!!!! It is heavenly! (My eleven year old who loves goats didn't want to try it, had a taste of mine and now she wants to eat her favorite animal...oops!) Jerk Chicken -- falls apart tender and so good! Coconut-curry chicken -- my second favorite. Spicy curry creamy goodness. I like to order the Ocho-Rios Double because I can't pick just one!! Sides are also delicious. Entrees come with rice and beans (also soooo yummy). Hubby loves the veggies (cabbage mix of vegetables), boys love the Mac n cheese and I LOVE the festivals. The server was great and the owner Graham was very friendly, they both made sure we were taken care of the entire time! My friend and I both ordered Da Bob Marley frozen daiquiri, it's was delicious and fruity! We also shared the Montego Bay Platter, which was delicious. I loved the coconut shrimp and the beef patty. I ordered the Island Trio for my entree and a side of the fried Plantains, I really enjoyed all of it! My favorite was the Fricassee Chicken, it was a brown chicken stew and it was delicious! We went all out and also tried the Jamaican rum and raisin cheesecake! I would eat dessert for dinner. I can't wait to come back and eat here again! I got the oxtail stew and Soca mac & cheese off Ubereats and it was so delicious! The oxtail was so tender and soft, and everything was packed with flavor!! I really enjoyed the mac n cheese, I heard it was supposed to be a little spicy, but it wasn't, which I appreciated! When I entered the restaurant there was reggae music playing and of course the bright colors everywhere, it made me want to book a vacation right there and then. The owner was very friendly, and as I looked at his menu I saw some cocktail options that reminded me of the phrase....no worries and no problems (in other words...vacation Rhum Punch...mmmm mmmm good) The owner was the only one working and had a now hiring sign hanging in his window. Upon entry into the restaurant, I was confused by the setup, and how to order. Directly in front of me was a long, bar-like counter, with a cash register leftmost. Was I supposed to order at the register, did they serve alcohol, was I supposed to put in my order via a server? A solitary employee showed up right away to get me seated, and tell me about the menu. I was the only one there, besides the server and cook. I had been looking forward to trying out this restaurant so I could taste some authentic Jamaican food. Having travelled in the Caribbean, I thought I knew what to expect in the flavor profile of jerk seasoning, and side dishes. I was expecting plenty of heat from Scotch bonnet peppers, with an underlying touch of sweetness. Part of authentic jerk is grilling over pimento wood fire. Since that wood is not avsilable here, I was curious about what wood was used. Whatever the wood, they said they used jerk-seasoned wood. I did not ask what that meant, and wish that I had. I decided to be traditional with what I ordered, so I drank Ting, a Jamaican grapefruit soda, which I have had before. Too bad the server did not suggest any alcohol or specialty non-alcoholic drinks, or appetizers. A great server would have convinced me to buy more to increase the check. I ordered a jerk chicken dinner that came with rice with beans, plus a choice of a side dish. I ordered the fried sweet plantains. I got a piece of rum cake to take home. I prefer to be wowed by a specialty cuisine, rather than feeling like I could make it as well, or better, at home than at the restaurant. Please, just kick it up a notch, or two, or three. The plantains were tasty, and the rice with beans just did not leave me feeling like they anything but drab. I wondered, if I was the only customer, if they would keep a fire going all day to make fresh jerk chicken. I got my answer when I got dry, hard, reheated chicken. It seemed like they made it once a week, if that, and k er pt it for serving until they were low. And the jerk saycd was mild, mussing any notes of pepper heat. The rum cake did not look, or taste, like a cake, and I did not finish it. Maybe my expectations were different than what the traditional cake is like, but it was vastly different than the Tortuga Rum cake I had before. I was really disappointed, and can't see how they can survive without bumping up their service upselling and their food becomes craveable.
