I saw great reviews for this restaurant serving Jamaican jerk just off Michigan Road. The restaurant is clean but dated. Bob Marley plays over head and his pictures are on the wall. We head to the counter and order the lunch plate special of 1/4 Chicken Jerk which comes with rice and beans and cabbage sides. The clerk is all business. The plate takes about 10 minutes to prep. Most people are taking their orders to go, but we eat at a table in the dining room. The jerk chicken tastes excellent - spicy, tender and moist. The enormous helping of rice and beans are flavorful, perfectly seasoned. The cabbage/carrot mix is very good. The portions are generous and shareable. Prices are very reasonable. There is a 3% surcharge for credit cards use. We paid cash. There is shared parking in the strip mall lot. The restrooms are immaculate. I recommend highly. The food is great. read more

I have been here many times in my travels to Indianapolis over the past year . Depending on who is cooking you will either get good Jamaican or great Jamaican food . I appreciate me being able to call and let this establishment know how long it would take me to get there so my food would be ready. It was ready as soon as I walked through the door. It is a small quiet place where one could enjoy lunch, but not big enough to accommodate large parties. A couple of things I really enjoyed about their food was the meat patty and the tender chicken. The meat fell off the bone and the gravy was so good and rich in color. I was disappointed to see they didn't have mac & cheese on the menu (Jamaican mac & cheese be so good) the meals also automatically came with two sides cabbage with plantain on top and rice and beans...the cabbage was very bland which was surprising because I always get good cabbage from Caribbean establishments. Loved the plantain and rice and beans. All the chairs are turned up on the table as if they don't want you to dine in, but I was getting my food to-go to begin with. Definitely a must try. It's authentic, the seasoning on the chicken was excellent with warm spices but not too much heat (if you're not into spicy foods) and the jerk sauce is amazing. I love hot stuff and the hot jerk sauce measured up to my expectations. My partner got mild which worked for him since he hates hot stuff. Rice and peas were yummy. The tables and chairs are very apparently recycled from an Asian food restaurant. Plantain was nice and sweet, chicken curry was just the right flavor with a good balance of skin-n bone-in chicken, potatoes, and carrots. The beans and rice was good enough, but the stars of the dish overshadowed the sides. The patties were good, although heavy on the pastry. Chicken was a great mild flavor, beef had some spicy kick.
