LOVED it. The food was AMAZING. My husband and 3 boys also thought it was delicious. We want to come back very soon

I came to Jamaican breeze because my regular go-to place was closed for the day. I ordered the Whole Red Snapper, Escovitch style, and it was the biggest whole snapper I've ever been served! It was fried to a perfect crisp, leaving the meat inside moist and tender. The Escovitch--a tangy, vinegary marinade--was loaded with fresh pickled carrots and just the right amount of scotch bonnet heat. It gave the dish an exciting, fiery kick that tasted absolutely authentic. Served with rice and peas and sweet plantains, this was a huge, flavorful, and satisfying meal. The service was friendly and welcoming. Must-try dish!

I had ordered food off DoorDash to be delivered to my work place. The food I had ordered was very flavorful and the price was a good price especially to be ordering it off DoorDash. Their mild sauce is very delicious. I opted to get that to put on my chicken which gave it a little spice to it which is always a plus for me. I enjoy spicy food and I enjoy Jamaican food. The cabbage and rice were delicious. If you are looking for Jamaican food definitely stop here to get some.

Celebrated my friends birthday yesterday at Jamaica breeze and we had such a great time. The staff was so attentive and nice (from our waitress to the chef). They went above and beyond for my friend who we were celebrating. They also went out of their ways to serve the birthday cake that we brought. The food was so good. Everything we tried was flavorful and we cleaned our plates. The oxtail and goat was soft, flavorful and delicious. The ribs was so flavorful and succulent. My least favorite item was the curry chicken but it was still tasty just not as good compared to other places. The plantains were so good but sadly we only got two pieces in a meal. There was Jamaican old hits music playing that brought me back to Jamaica and the overall atmosphere was light. There was also a DJ in the night and an option for people to do karaoke. We truly had a great time.

I was working from home and craving Jamaican so I had some ordered. I had the oxtails and plantain, it was good but the oxtails had mostly fat and the plantain could have been cooked longer. The food arrived still hot and well wrapped in plastic to protect from spilling.

I took a chance here trying out some new to me and my groups food type. Well not so much of a chance because i looked at recent pictures other Yelpers posted haha. The food looked good and we were just down the street at the fair grounds. They had a steady stream of togo orders as well as seated late lunch goers. We stopped in around 130 PM and there were plenty of seats inside and out. Although before even going in you could smell some great bar-b-que going. Everything i had as super tasty and actually didnt have alot of spicy heat to it so you shouldnt have to worry about that. If you want to get out of your comfort zone you should try this place out.

    Thank you email

What a friendly place, with authentic vibe, and great local foods. Driven by here 100 times and never stopped in, till now. This has to be on your radar for indy dining. Beef patties , curry, jerk chicken, rice , plantains, beans,.... It was all. GREAT! We will be back to try the aloe and salt fish next time .

This is the best spot in Indy for authentic Jamaican/Caribbean food! Special mention to the bar staff who go above and beyond for the patrons

I was seated in the outdoor section for a little over 30 minutes being ignored by the server as they asked others around me if they needed anything, being selective in who was acknowledged even with attempts to flag them down for service. I finally went inside to place an order at the bar, who notified the server that I had placed an order and to bring it out to me when it was ready. They noted my name and where I was sitting all while standing there. The server even confirmed my name after I was back seated outdoors. Not much was coming out but then tables began receiving their food. Although it had been awhile, I was patient until I noticed tables that had arrived after me were well into their meals. Even those in my party received their food, but not me. I went inside to check at the bar and was referred to the front to check on it. As I waited my turn, the server who was supposed to bring my food walked up and asked "You haven't gotten your food yet?" HOW? If you haven't brought it to me? She then turned to a young lady at the front saying I needed my food, who asked what had. When I told her, she said "Oh, that's what was sitting on the counter forever." The server responded "Yes. Have them make it again." By this point it had been an hour since I placed my order, and the meal was remade in moments, so the server seemingly intentionally just didn't bring it out for whatever reason. I still would've been waiting if I hadn't gone in to check myself. Also, moments before I went in my brother had gone in to place an order but was told the kitchen was closed - however they were taking new orders when I went in to inquire about mine. Later orders were being taken table side outdoors as well. Besides whatever this Mac and cheese was supposed to be, the food was pretty good. Even though I ordered white meat, it was very tender. The mild sauce was delicious. All in all, I'm only deterred from giving this place another try because of the multiple strikes of subpar service - maybe getting takeout would be best.

The Vibes Is Right Walked in immediately felt at welcome home, and comfortable. Oxtails were great, jerk chicken. was tender. They have amazing Jamaican soda and a nice patio. Can't wait to return.

The food was soooo good! I had dinner with my girlfriends on a Friday night. There was karaoke, but it was all about the service and food. The patties, jerk shrimp, and the Escovitch fillet fish. I couldn't get enough of it all. The meals came with a side of rice and beans topped with plantains, and then sautéed carrots and peppers. The ambiance was chill with lower light.

We've always ordered our Jamaican food from here and haven't had any complaints! Never been in person just delivery and the food is always hot and fresh! I've tried their curry chicken before which was okay. Nothing like their jerk chicken! And the Chicken Pattie is 10/10!

The ball spent more time off the table than it did on it :D This visit, I built my own gluten-free pizza with olive oil, garlic, basil, rosemary, arugula, prosciutto, and goat cheese. It was fresh, flavorful. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the patio made for a great place to spend the evening. It's one of those spots that's just as much about the experience as it is the food, which is why I keep coming back.

Delicious and fresh food, so much fun for the kids, and service was good but a little slow. Only downside is the location. Area is pretty worn down. Food: The pizza is delicious and fresh. Nice chew, a little bit crisp and the great smell of freshly dough. We got the sausage and pepperoni; sausage was better but both were good. The breadsticks were hot and delicious. A little soggy with butter but I mean.. it's butter. Is that bad? Dipping cheese was better than your standard stadium nacho cheese. Chopped salad was very fresh. Not the most interesting but still good. Hot Honey chicken wings were clearly freshly battered and fried. Incredible. Very similar to Korean Fried Chicken. Alcohol: Beer and wine option were good. Could use a couple more wine options. Beer and wine had a great range of styles and prices. Bar looked very well stocked for mixed drinks or drinking neat. Service: Staff was kind and helpful. They could have been slightly more available. The food did take a while longer than I would have expected for it not being that busy. But with how fresh it was, I'm sure it's because they were making it fresh. Ambiance: Tons of space. Ultra family friendly. Board games, yard games, ping pong, fire pits. Awesome! Train tracks across the parking lot were a fun side benefit. Kids loved watching the trains go by. Drinking out of plastic cups wasn't my favorite but I understand why. Location: Next to North Mass Boulder. Not a great part of town but felt safe once you're there. Final thoughts: If you're downtown and have kids, you gotta stop here especially if it's nice outside.

Turns out the entire heated patio is first come, first served, and we were seated almost immediately. It was one of those windy Indiana afternoons where the cold finds every gap in your jacket. I fully expected to spend lunch shivering. Somehow, the heated patio felt warmer than the restaurant itself. Between the TVs, football on every screen, and the patio heaters, we had zero complaints. Now let's talk about the famous pepperoni-stuffed breadsticks. They're a must. And order your own nacho cheese. Seriously. Don't expect anyone to share. I could eat a shoe dipped in their cheese and probably enjoy every bite. The breadsticks always arrive piping hot, stuffed with gooey mozzarella, and if we're judging on a cheese-pull scale...I'm giving them a solid 7/10 on the stretch meter. As for our server, Zach...what a true gem. He's one of those people I'd honestly be surprised to hear anyone say they didn't like. Funny, quick with the jokes, and somehow kept up with the chaos without missing a beat. He also made sure my lemon drop martinis never had a chance to get lonely. Since I wasn't driving, he happily assisted me in...staying hydrated. The place was busy enough that we couldn't stand around chatting long, but he's the kind of person you'd genuinely enjoy running into again. We've been here twice now, and both visits have been consistently great. Whether you're stopping in to catch the game, escape the cold on the heated patio, or simply satisfy a craving for those ridiculously good breadsticks, Ale Emporium continues to be one of our favorite spots. Just don't skip the breadsticks...and trust me, order your own cheese. You'll understand after the first bite.

I always order the Cuban when a new restaurant has one on the menu, and Big Lug's did not disappoint. It was juicy, flavorful, and one of the better Cubans I've had in a while. On my second visit, I went with the blackened cod tacos on corn tortillas (you can also get flour tortillas, and they offer shrimp and breaded fish options). They were fresh, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious. Both visits I ordered the spicy garlic cauliflower, and it was outstanding. The homemade blue cheese dressing took it to another level. If you're on the fence about ordering it, don't be--it was one of my favorite things on the menu. The outdoor walk-up bar creates a really cool, laid-back atmosphere, making it a great place to relax whether you're meeting friends or just enjoying a meal by yourself. The staff was friendly, the service was excellent, and both meals came out quickly. I don't usually eat at the same restaurant twice on a trip, but Big Lug earned it. We sat right in the middle of the main thoroughfare and were completely ignored for at least 15 minutes before we finally flagged someone down. The guy, "H," apologized and said, "Oh, my bad--it's all good." We figured, no big deal, let's move on. We ordered pretty simple food, apps and were then going to put in some entrees once apps arrived. We asked for waters and a water bowl for our pups. He brought two waters--with no straws--and no dog bowl. We assumed he was going to grab the bowl, so we waited... and waited. Then I noticed him at the end of the bar leaning against some boxes, texting. So I finally got up, interrupted him and asked for the dog bowl. His response, "oh my bad." Our appetizers came out, and naturally, we asked for silverware. A few minutes later, I spotted "H" in the corner on his phone again. At that point I was thinking, seriously?! So I got up again, interrupted "H's" text convo and asked for silverware. His response again was, "Oh, my bad." I didn't respond to him I just turned around and went back to my seat. Honestly, the whole experience started feeling more like a self-serve restaurant than table service. It's a chill spot and we weren't being needy whatsoever. We never asked for any refills- we were merely asking for the basics. We wanted to order more food, but by that point we were pretty turned off and decided to just get the check. Then came the final straw: my guy had his license and credit card sitting on the table because he hadn't brought his wallet out for our monon trek. When "H" came back with the checkout thing, without question or hesitation - he grabbed the card and swiped it. We didn't even realize what happened until afterward. Maybe that's standard there, but I've never had a server just take my card without asking. Usually you get a "hey do we want to use this card? Or something to confirm. And of course the tip structure is skewed so the min is 20% unless you want to try to figure out to manually enter in 15% (which most ppl don't -incl my guy), so we left 20% and left irritated and still hungry. "H" didn't seem hungover or anything--he just genuinely seemed like he did not not give a shiiiit. We had to get up three separate times to get things we had already requested: the dog bowl, a couple straws, and silverware. (Basics) And a quick note on the 7-Layer Hoss Dip: don't expect seven layers. It comes in a small thick ceramic bowl and was basically beans, guacamole, a tiny bit of corn and some hard cheese on top. Definitely would not recommend it. Way too "beany" and not worth $16 at all. The southwest rolls were decent- very fried tho. Cheesecake Factory's are better ;) The location and dog-friendly atmosphere are great, with the exception of the homeless camp right at their patio entrance, but unfortunately, the service really took away from the experience. Hopefully this was just an off night, because Big Lug has a lot going for it.
