Random Wednesday carry-out dinner. Jerk wings- smelled delicious. Amazing color. Excellent spice level (hot!) Jamaican Beef patties- yummy! Spicy. Very fine beef filling and delicious pastry. Mac n cheese- amazing! Zesty and creamy. Perfect with the green beans! Green beans- so smoky and tender. Pairs perfect with the Mac n cheese! Gumbo Greens- I was so excited, but I didn't really like it. Too much filé or herby for me. Gave it a weird taste. But it was thick with meat and rice and greens! It ain't cheap. To be honest, I had been wanting to give this place another try because the first time I visited, the main entrée -- the oxtails -- was extremely salty. I finally made it back today around 8:45 p.m. I knew the restaurant closed at 10 p.m., so I made sure not to come at the last minute. I ordered and paid for my food at 9:06 p.m. My concern is that I was told my order would be ready in about 10-30 minutes, but I did not receive my food until 10:06 p.m. I remained patient and respectful the entire time, but there was no apology for the delay. Then, after getting home, I found the food once again overly salty to the point that it was difficult to enjoy. For the price paid, I expected better quality and customer service. I truly want to support Black-owned businesses, which is why I came back and gave the restaurant another opportunity. However, consistency, professionalism, and consideration for customers should remain the standard for everyone at all times. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, because there is definitely room for improvement in both service and food preparation. read more

Two stars. If "we got Jamaican at home" was a restaurant, this would be it. The food was mid and the price was high. I placed my order over the phone before leaving the office and grabbed it on my way home. I ordered one of the specials that the employee told me about because it was the best deal and another entree because I'm greedy. Upon arrival, my food still wasn't ready. So, I had to wait. There was no point in calling ahead if I still had to wait at pickup. The decor is super cute! There's something on every wall. Once I got my food, I asked for my drink. I was told a drink was extra, but when I ordered it on the phone it was included with the "special". This lady told me, "Well, I didn't tell you that. You didn't talk to me. That musta been my momma and she's gone now. She didn't know what she was talking about." And she stood ten toes down and did not want to give me my drink. I was so disappointed in the lack of customer service. Then I got home and my meal didn't blow me away. No smoky grill flavor. The jerk sauce was more like BBQ sauce with Walkerswood mixed in it. I wish them well but have not returned. I say try them out! I hear they are hit-or-miss on the food and service. I pray your order is a hit! I'm sorry in advance for not including pictures of the food consumed. My order consisted of a catfish dinner with mashed sweet potatoes and Mac & cheese. I also ordered a large gumbo greens. The Cajon catfish was cooked to perfection, fried hard, per my request. The gumbo greens are more like greens over rice. It was OK...I was thinking gumbo more so than regular greens with rice when placing my order. I should have asked more questions. This by no means is a bad thing on their end, my fault 100% for not making sure my desire for gumbo lined up with the ingredients in the gumbo greens. Finally took a picture of my food before devouring!! This is our 5th time having their jerk wings. All other times we ordered through door dash! Today we picked up in person! Picking up is now my preference! The wings were even better! We try to stay away from fried wings and so these are perfect! The smoked jerk flavor is very delicious. The wings have a lot of meat and so you are truly getting your monies worth. We also typically don't eat beef but we had to try the patty! We do wish they had Chicken patties! We also tried their turkey ribs prior as well as the dirty rice! Rice was good! Turkey ribs were decent! When ordering for delivery we never received jerk sauce so we assumed they didn't have any. Today we received jerk sauce with our pick up order! It adds an extra layer of flavor! I recommend they provide the sauce with their delivery orders as well. I guess I'm just not a fan. I should have read more of the yelp reviews. There is a sign inside at the counter informing you of a 45 minute wait. We only waited 30 minutes and figured that the jerk chicken would be worth the wait but was disappointed. Customer service also left much to be desired, for the price being paid. This was our first & last visit as I'm pretty sure no improvements will be made. Saw people come in and stood in line until they got to the register & assume the 45 minute wait sign had them leave to get lunch elsewhere. We thought we would stop in and see what the hype was about. Walked in the door and was greeted by the staff. I did an order pick up during their Trappy Hour and let me tell you it was good. I have been here twice and the prices are very reasonable. The food is very flavorful and the staff is very welcoming. The inside of the restaurant is very welcoming and clean. If they have the trap juice you definitely have to get it with your meal. You will not be disappointed. read more

Yaso's is usually our usual go to but they were closed on Tuesday. So we Googled & Facebook "jerk restaurants in Indy" and this place came up with a lot of pictures. The beef patties were fresh and delicious. The jerk wings was very fresh & good, really didn't need no jerk sauce. But the star of the show is the RED BEANS & RICE!!! OMG!! I can't wait to go back & try more food. The only complaint I have is that I ordered an extra (large) red beans & rice and they gave me greens instead. The greens were good tho. Stopped in today and tried the jerk rib tip dinner with black eyed peas and green beans. The rib tips were well seasoned and delicious. The green beans weren't bad. I can't comment on the black eyed peas because they got left out of my order. They have a big menu with plenty to choose from. The menu is extensive and they say it changes everyday. The ribs did not have a grill flavor to them. The fried chicken did not taste fresh. The jerk Philly was the best thing out of what we ordered. Definitely add the sauce otherwise it is dry. Crinkle cut fries are average store bought frozen fries. The service was ok. Not super nice and not rude or unfriendly. That trap juice is diabetes in a bottle. There was sugar literally settled at the bottom of the jug. We had to cut it with water. But if sweetness is your thang, go for it! The jerk ribs and cabbage were well seasoned and the portion size was generous (6 ribs). THE RED BEANS & RICE. This is what I'll be craving in a few weeks. It's rich (good dark roux) and full of beans and perfectly cooked sausage and chicken. The rice underneath is perfectly cooked as well. So much flavor. I look forward to coming again to try more stuff! I took away 1 star simply because the burger, fried fish, and fries were good but not amazing. But if you ask me, that's your fault for ordering the boring stuff (kids, right?). If you stick it's the jerk and Cajun items on the menu you will be very happy with yourself. read more

First time eating here and everything was all very good. Highly recommend. I will eat here again. Had the Jamaican Philly Sub just because it was different and sounded good. Meat was very tender and seasoned well. Bread was super fresh and the cheese sauce was a good addition and did not mask the taste. I ended taking my order to go as I was rushed. French were still decent after 20 minutes of driving and would have been very good if eaten promptly. Grease they were cooked in was fresh and the fries were properly cooked. The green beans were very good with a nice spice that was not overwhelming. If you are reducing carbs, go with these and splurge on the patties. Speaking of the Jamaican patties, they were very good and even after 20 minutes sitting in the styrofoam container, were still blistering hot. The crust was better than any I have had in a long time. Nice atmosphere and would be family friendly. They had nice outside eating too with plenty of picnic tables. Even though they were busy, everything was clean and orderly.
