    Jamaican Patties(chicken)

A friend picked this spot to celebrate her birthday. Her mother was Jamaican and she hadn't tried this spot, but had heard good things about it. I guess the reviews speak for themselves. She had called ahead and was informed the owner was in Jamaica for the week and the inside would be closed, but they would allow us to dine inside for the celebration. Great. We arrive at 3:00 on a Sunday. It is only 2 other guests inside. The restaurant is clean and painted in colorful Caribbean colors. Hints of Jamaica are spread out in the decor and Jamaican music plays in the background. The guest of honor was waiting for us and we are immediately greeted and given one menu. Five minutes later are orders are taken. More people start coming in and soon there is a line at the counter. I did notice there was a sign at the door that said the inside would be closed for the week and to please use the drive thru. I guess they decided to open the inside dining after all. Thirty minutes later, we were still waiting on our food and drinks. It appeared as though they were understaffed which explained the sign on the door and the initial message the birthday girl had received. She went to the counter to inquire about our drinks. Shortly after, water was brought to our table. Ten minutes later our food and drinks were brought to us. It was piping hot, packed full in to go containers. I got the jerk chicken. It was very tender and seasoned to perfection. It came with a a small about of steamed cabbage, plantains, and a hearty portion of rice and peas/beans. I preferred the cabbage and plantains. I also got a chicken Jamaican patty. The crust was flaky and the chicken flavor was well seasoned. I'd like to try a ground beef patty next time. The birthday girl got jerk ribs. I did sample a rib and it was really good and tender. She also got the ackee and salt fish to go. It took awhile to pay our bill as their system didn't seem equipped to split bills for larger parties which is understandable. Overall, I'd try Yaso again to continue to explore Jamaican dishes. The restaurant stayed busy during our time there.

Yaso is an absolute gem, and I'm a loyal customer! I usually order the whole Red Snapper prepared Escovitch style (which is always phenomenal--perfectly fried and topped with the tangy, pickled veggies). However, today I decided to switch it up and ordered the Red Snapper Filet prepared with Brown Stew, and it was equally fantastic! The fish filet was incredibly tender and flaky, and the brown stew sauce was rich, complex, savory, and had just the right balance of sweet and spice. It hugged the filet and the classic sides (rice and peas, and steamed cabbage) beautifully. It was truly a comforting, soul-satisfying meal. The service is consistently quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Whether you are a fan of the Escovitch or the deep, savory flavor of Brown Stew, Yaso executes both perfectly. Highly recommend stopping by for authentic Jamaican cuisine!

If you are looking for authentic Jamaican food locally, look no further than Yaso Jamaican Grill! The food is amazing - fresh and delicious. This visit we opted for the white meat jerk chicken and curried chicken meals. Each comes with steamed veggies, rice and beans, and plantains. I am a huge fan of the steamed veggies. So, I double up on those. Seasoned to perfection! The staff is always friendly and professional. We always order their jerk turkey at Thanksgiving. Fall off the bone good! Be sure to order as soon as they open for jerk turkey! Be sure to check hours before you go - they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays are drive up or online order only.

Great experience! The restaurant is casual but clean and comfortable with a lot of outdoor seating and parking. The prices are very reasonable and service is good. The food was very flavorful and portions were much bigger than we expected. Would come again!

OMG...this food is an experience from the curried goat to the beef patty to the wings and more. The vibe is pure Jamaican. Would I recommend?!? Silly question...are you hungry for some real good Jamaican food and friendly service then you found a hidden gem in Indy.

Lady at the front was super friendly and gave great recommendations on what to order. The food was so good and tasted very authentic! We got jerk chicken and the curried goat plus 2 Jamaican beef patties. The guava mango juice was delicious and very refreshing. The vibe of the place was pretty chill.

After I found out my "go-to" Jamaican food spot closed I was a little disappointed but I was excited to try this spot which I heard great things about. I called in a pick up order on a Saturday evening and it was ready in about 20 minutes. The food was so good! I had the dark meat jerk chicken which came with cabbage, rice and beans and plantains.. i ate every bite in one sitting.

Omg I will definitely go again. And again. The portions were filling, the service was great. The building smells so good and is so clean. And that juice, man i love the juice, but that price will keep me getting it as a treat instead of daily. Anyhow, yes ohh yess I will definitely be seen in there from time to time. If the pictures dont get your mouth watering please let me know so I can change the settings bc something is wrong. Lol Thank you bc yall blessed me.

Tender, Tasty and take it again and again. The drinks( pricey, but well worth a try) were sweet and refreshing. Food portions are generous and able share or have seconds, if you are a light eater. That's if you can stop eating . Enjoy!

We arrived right when they opened and glad we did because it filled up quickly. You order and pay at the counter and they bring your food to your table. They have a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were very nice and accommodating. I had JD's Famous Oxtails and a beef patty and my friend had Yaso Jerk Shrimp. The portions were huge! Both meals came with rice&beans, cabbage, and plantains. Honestly this was one of the best meals I've had in a while. I couldn't eat all my food and took my leftovers home. My friend said his shrimp was really good. He loves spicy foods and this was the perfect amount of spice. This place is definitely a winner!

Been wanting to try this spot for over a year! I was NOT disappointed! I did get the kids portion and that was plenty for me. The container was full of rice and beans and came with one chicken thigh cooked perfectly and a half a plantain and a little bit of cabbage. I choose mild jerk sauce that was unlike any other I've had. You could taste every spice in the sauce. My beef patty was fresh and yummy. I went around lunch time and my order was ready in less than 5 minutes. Of course now hubby wants to go so we will have to try dinner and let you know.

This place hits! First time visiting this lovely establishment and it will not be the last! I got the curry chicken and my husband got the white jerk chicken. The curry was very tender and flavorful. The jerk chicken was a little dry, but it was white meat, so that is expected. It was fine dipped in the sauces that came with it. We also got the last Jamaican pattie and, boy, did we luck out! Sooo good! The restaurant itself is laid back casual. Come as you are. You place your order at the counter and someone brings it out to your table. It's not full service, so don't expect anyone to check on you or bring you a to-go bag. The wait was kinda longer than we expected, but no big deal for us and we were happy to wait for the yumminess! Pricing was decent. The $6.50 for a can of Cayman Jack was a little steep seeing they're like $1.50 at the store, but $45 for two huge meals, a pattie, a Pepsi and Cayman Jack was about what we'd expect to pay and totally worth it.

VERY good oxtails, top notch .... The beans and rice are in my top 2 fav in the city along with Loco's Mexican ; they stood alone with no need for sauce or gravy. The Ginger Wine was amazing and I don't really like wine! Clean establishment, efficient staff. Eat Here.

The inside is quite roomy with plenty of room to spread out. We were quickly seated and greated to get our drink orders. A few of us tried the passion fruit juice drink which comes in a rather large glass but was quite good. For an appetizer we ordered a few of the Haitian Pates which were amazing and each one was big enough for 2-4 people to share. For our meals, we ordered the chicken entree, pork entree and the turkey entree. Each entree came with a number of side items on the plate. I was amazed at how much food and how many items we received for the price we paid. The server was very friendly and attentive although we did have to chase her down for the bill which wasn't really a problem. Plan on having cash to tip because once she ran my card, she said she didn't have a way to add tip to the bill or the credit card slip. Maybe you can add it ahead of time, but I didn't think to ask before. Luckily our party had some cash to tip. We really enjoyed all of the food and will definitely be back soon.

There is a lot of parking available in the lot that it shares with the other business in the strip mall that it is located. They have a decent sized dining area, that almost looks like a banquet hall. There is a roped of VIP area, a non-alcoholic bar with seating, a vip room and a stage where they host live music. It looks like it would be a hoping place on weekends. You will also find an ATM here as well as a few televisions around the bar area. There is a patio area in the front of the restaurant, but it was closed and had tables stacked on top of each other when I was there. I decided to dine in, which was kind of awkward. I was never seated. I just found a table after standing there for about 5 minutes. The table was not very stable and rocked throughout my meal. Normally, the server brings a glass of water out to the patrons too, but that was not the case here. I had to even track down the server to take my order. The staff there is friendly enough, but as I have mentioned, they are very hard to communicate with. They offer a limited menu that rotates based on the day of week. This is an authentic restaurant. I mean authentic, authentic. communicating with them was very difficult. They did not understand a word I said and vice versa. Somehow I was able to place my order, even though it took a while. I went with the fried goat, which came with french fries, plantains and slaw. I ended up having to point out the drink I wanted in the cooler behind the bar. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my food and it looked delicious. I will be honest though, it was not very good. The plantains tasted like cardboard, the fries were a bit off too. The goat was good, but it and the rest of the food was luke warm at best. It was like it was already prepared and just put on the platter. I ended up throwing my plantains away and I do not like to waste food, but I just could not eat them. I really really had high hopes for this place, but it did not deliver. The food just did not do it for me. The communication issue affected the service and the prices were a bit steep. my meal and drink ran me about $25. I hope that my visit was an off day for the restaurant, but I will probably not be coming back anytime soon.

That one was the middle heat sauce. It had just enough kick to it. The wings were good. Very flavorful and tasty. Some of them were luke warm at best through and could have been heated up a little more. I still really liked them though. The jambalaya is not your normal New Orleans jambalaya. It has a Caribbean flare to it. It is also tasty and has a bit of a kick to it, like most Caribbean food does. The egg roll was ok. It was huge and packed, but I did not think it tasted very special. It was just average to me. Maybe I had such high hopes, but it was definitely lacking the flavor of the other food that I ate. The guy that was working was friendly enough. He was not engaging, but would respond if you needed something or had a question. He just did his job. This is a decent Caribbean restaurant. It would not be my first option though.
