What a pleasant experience from the moment we walked in . The. Bruschetta was very very good and well seasoned , bread was served hot and that's a big plus for me . Our server / bartender was very pleasant , professional and helpful with great knowledge of the menu . I had the Risotto and my boyfriend had the veal martini over linguini , while my risotto was a good portion the veal/ linguini was not unfortunately :( The vibe in the place is awesome and very welcoming . So food , service and ambience were good . However I feel like the outside appearance of the place could use some attention . This place is amazing! From the food to the service and atmosphere. It's very warm and inviting inside, wood paneling and paintings on the walls. Cozy and definitely feels like an old school Italian restaurant. Servers are welcoming and super friendly. Attentive but not too attentive. We made a reservation by calling, it was busy but there were still a few tables empty on a Saturday night. The bartender greeted us with a big smile. Honestly this place should be busier it's much better than the other Italian restaurants in town. We started off with calamari. $20. Perfect texture, and flavor. Not too salty, and not chewy at all. It was delicious. I got chicken martini off the specials menu, and it was two thin sliced chicken breasts in a lemon caper sauce with tomatoes and artichokes. It was exactly what I wanted and the chicken was soft, moist and delicious. It's a little pricey for the portion I think it was $34 but it wasn't the biggest plate of food. My husband got a pasta dish that he loved, it was homemade stuffed pasta with spinach and cheese. The menu had a lot of creative dishes on there, not all typical Italian dishes you would normally find. Dinner comes with fried polenta and carrots and broccoli which is a nice touch. There is another Italian restaurant in Bayonne that does that, I haven't seen that done before I moved here. I do like it! It's nice that a side like that is complimentary. And the bread is complimentary as well, it's a big baguette and it was super soft and flavorful but crunchy on the outside, very good for free bread! I also liked how they had two sets of forks so you didn't have to keep your appetizer fork for dinner. They also box the food up in the back so you don't have to do it yourself. Excellent service. How have I never been to this amazing restaurant before??? A friend and I decided to visit Da Noi this past Friday night. We, too, got a restaurant.com gift certificate, and decided to use it that evening. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. The crowd was mixed - everyone from young families to seniors. The decor was nice and we started with wine and some amazing mussels in white wine sauce. The mussels were perfect - not overcooked nor undercooked. They're very generous with bread, too, and bring an entire small loaf, a carafe of olive oil and butter. They also brought bruschetta, and it was great. For dinner I had the Veal Martini, a tender, delicious veal crusted with parmesan, sauteed in white wine & butter. My date had Penne alla Melanzane, an amazing dish with penne pasta, shaved, dry ricotta and eggplant. As a side, the restaurant gave us sauteed green beans with these little puffs. I have no idea what the puffs were, but they were great. Fried, sweet yet savory, and delicious. After dinner we were too full for dessert, even though the desserts looked wonderful. We each had coffee and talked for quite awhile. Service was very old world: very solicitous, very attentive, but once it came time for the coffee, they left us to talk until we were ready to go. Dinner and tip before the gift certificate came to 77, so 52 after using it. It was an amazing price for a great restaurant. I haven't stopped raving about this place all weekend! Local place - don't travel to Bayonne too much but what the heck . Very " homey " , pretty casual . Decor is dark but still clean and neat . ( outdated ) Staff is very friendly and attentive . Was with a larger party so we had few appetizers. Fried Calamari- average Carpaccio - very good but heavy on the cheese Crespelle Fiorentina- eggplant stuffed with spinach , I would pass . Way too much spinach and didn't taste too fresh . Seemed as though it was previously frozen . Dinner I had the pasta special . Basil pasta with Tuna chunks , shrimp , shiitake mushrooms and arugula. I've heard good things about Da Noi and I've heard bad things. This review is going to be mostly the latter. The food: Fried Calamari was very good. Fried to a light golden color. They were tender and the sauce was decent. The eggplant Rollatini appetizer was unusual but it was not bad. It just was not what I expected. I did not see eggplant rollatini anywhere on the menu so I asked the waitress if they had any in the house and she said yes. Now at this point she probably should have told me that it is not the typical appetizer and that it is made with some sort of herb mixed in with the ricotta cheese turning it a bright shade of green. I think it may have been parsley or it could've been spinach. It definitely was not basil because that would've been very obvious tasting. But whatever it was it was good. The sauce was almost like a cheesy ala vodka sauce. Also good. Now onto the mains. My fathers veal Valdostano was drowning in a cream sauce. The veal chop itself was pounded very thin however it was over cooked. But the flavor was very nice. However the veal chop itself was on the small side. Does it justify the price? No. I did not see a cold seafood salad on the menu so I asked if it would be possible to have one made. The waitress was very accommodating and said absolutely. However it was the worst cold seafood salad that I have ever eaten. It had absolutely no flavor. If you want a good cold seafood salad, then you definitely have to go to Café Bello. They know how to do it right there. The service: The service was absolutely horrendous. For starters our waitress was wearing a tight yoga pants and an Ill fitting shirt (aka way too tight) with running shoes that were pink and black. I do not think that for an upscale Italian eatery that a server should be dressed this way. The high prices here dictate that the servers will be well dressed. Secondly, the waitress did not know how to properly open a bottle of wine which by the way took nearly 12 minutes to arrive at our table. She then began to butcher the foil while a little pieces of it fell on the table in front of me. She did not come with two glasses to the table when she brought the wine. Instead after she horrifically open the wine, she walked over to adjoining table and grabbed two glasses???? And then to add insult to injury she picked up my glass around the globe w her dirty fingers and poured the wine into it instead of pouring while it was sitting on the table as is the appropriate way. And she never came back to refill my glass of wine I had to do it myself throughout the meal. Somebody needs to train this waitress to properly open a bottle of wine!! Thirdly, she was completely clueless about the food. Of the numerous questions that I asked her she could not answer one. Also it would've been nice if she would know a little bit more about the specials instead of just reading them off of a piece of paper. Tacky Also this same waitress never came to check on us after we got our food. The time to check back on a diner after they have received their food is 1 to 2 minutes. 12 minutes later is not appropriate. I needed pepper on my seafood salad and there was no one to be found. If I'm going to spend $109 not including the tip I want somebody who knows how to open a bottle of wine who knows how to dress appropriately for their job and the environment and also someone who knows how to serve. And knows the menu Needless to say I will not be returning to this restaurant. I will continue to go to Café Bello where the service is indeed impeccable and The servers dress professionally. read more

Had my very first baby shower here. Romolo, the manager, saw everything through to absolute perfection-right down to the way the tables were arranged. They let us come in to decorate the night before and were so cordial, happy and sweet! The day of the shower Arturro made everything just perfect! The gnocci and croquettes are to DIE for. All my guests kept going on and on about what a classy fancy shower I had. Prices were very reasonable-and what a bang for the buck! I love da noi and their entire beautiful staff. They truly love what they do and their work-and it shows. I plan to have many more events here. Great service with a SMILE, beautiful tasteful Decor, and food that is rave worthy. I went here for dinner last week for the first time with my boyfriend after buying a certificate from restaurant.com. Most of the crowd is older (seniors) and it wasn't too crowded when we walked in around 7pm on a Sat night, but by the time we left it was pretty packed. I ordered the Pollo Sorrentino (chicken breast covered with prosciuto, eggplant, and cheese) which was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and sausage special, which he liked except there were only 2 pieces of sausage. Once the crowd started coming in we went with out water and drinks and the time between clearing our dinner plates and getting a dessert menu was a bit long. VERY LITTLE ATTENTION TO DETAILS!! I called in advance to ask for a nice table for my mother's birthday. I made it a point to take the waiter aside and ask again, to be sure the cake came out at the end of the meal WITHOUT us having to ask for it. As that would ruin the surprise since I was seated right next to her. Well, after waiting 30 mins for entrees we received our food. The waiter said "SO WHOSE GOING TO DRINK WINE?" I replied, "no one. We don't drink." He replied jokingly," WE DON'T LIKE PEOPLE THAT DON'T DRINK. BORING." This is not an exaggeration. This is exactly what he said. He obviously thought he was being playful, but even with a language barrier, this was not funny. And it made some people at the table uncomfortable. We had to flag down the waiter at least twice for bread and water. Lastly, at the end of the meal, he comes over and asks "what do you want for dessert?" I looked him blankly as I had taken him to the side to remind him about the surprise birthday cake. He asked again. No one said a word, because it was a SURPRISE! At the point my mother figured out there was a surprise cake. So I said to him, you have asked me 3x about the dessert. I told you it WAS A SURPRISE. Now, it's been ruined. Please bring the cake." He shrugged his shoulders and said 'OH, I FORGOT!". We paid the bill and left. Although the food wasn't fabulous, we may have returned at another time. However, the service from the waiter was unacceptable. And you can't take back a surprise that has been ruined. I'll try another spot. Won't be coming back here. read more

My wife and I come here often. The dinning room is very pleasant. The service is outstanding. They treat you like your in there every night. The house Chianti is extremely good. The bruschetta is very good. They have a number of good appetizers - the eggplant rollatini is remarkable - the best I have ever had. They have a great menu and usually have a number of specials. I usually order the sole fiorentino for dinner. With your dinner, they bring out a plate of green beans and these delicious lightly fried brown cubes with powdered sugar on them. The desserts are very good. They don't rush you. You could conceivably sit here all night. We have never had a bad experience here. read more

Went here last night to celebrate my birthday, my boyfriends birthday, and one of our BFF's birthday -- also our BFF's 6 month wedding anniversary, as well as me and my bf's 6 month anniversary (yes we got together at their wedding). Phew that's a lot of celebrating. Had a gift certificate that I got for Christmas, so figured it was worth a shot. I'm always leery of italian restaurants -- bad italian food is the worst to me. Anyone can make Chicken Parm, sure, but i need a place that can make it well. It was pretty quiet for 7pm on a Saturday, but i prefer it that way. We did not feel rushed at all and enjoyed a nice, leisurely dinner. We started with fried calamari, baked clams and beef carpaccio. Calamari was good, standard serving style and breading. I was not a fan of the baked clams, they just tasted off to me. I much prefer the clams at Lorenzos (sadly closed now) -- clams broiled with roasted red peppers, a bit of olive oil and some pancetta. Delish. Beef carpaccio was interesting -- kind of tasted like roast beef to me, although my boyfriend said it was actually raw. I don't think i'd eat it again, but it wasn't bad. Bread and some bruschetta was brought out shortly before appetizers, the bread was really good and the bruschetta was fresh and well made. Very tasty! For dinner, I had rigatoni with sweet italian sausage, proscuitto and cream. It was very very good -- but very heavy (and a huge portion). Not something I could eat on a regular basis for fear of gaining 39,209 lbs. But yummy none the less. BF had Veal Martini, which was basically veal francaise except the breading had parmesan cheese in it. Also very yummy -- the veal was tender and not stringy at all (my usual complaint about veal at a restaurant). Large portion as well. Our BFF had the shrimp parm, and we joked the whole way through dinner that the shrimp were on steroids because they were HUUUUUUUUUUGE. it seriously looked like several nice sized chicken breasts on the plate, not shrimp. He said it was delicious. BFF's wife had chicken parm, which looked great and she proclaimed it tasted as good as it looked. Lots of pasta on the side. For dessert I had tiramisu -- AWESOME. Tiramisu is my favorite dessert of all time -- and more than once I've been disappointed upon ordering it at an italian place. Most of the time its a premade, dry lame excuse for Tiramisu, but this was clearly homemade and made well. BF had zabaglione (me no likey), BFF had nothing cause he's a loser, and his wife had flourless chocolate cake that looked great (she said it was too rich but very good). Service was great -- as I mentioned before we had a nice relaxed dinner. The staff did not rush us, but kept our glasses full and the table clear at the appropriate time (read: they didn't walk over while we were all still eating and ask if we were finished. I HATE THAT). We enjoyed after dinner drinks, coffee, and caught up after not getting to hang out for a while. We had no issues using the gift certificate -- after we got the bill, got together credit cards and the GC, they applied the GC and split the bill on 2 cards and had receipts for everyone and copies of the bill. I must say though -- the GC stated that an 18% gratuity would be added to the bill automatically when we used it. I get why -- but we would have gladly tipped 20% if that had not been included (I always tip. We added in that other 2% because the service was great, and the staff deserved it. Overall, dinner at Da Noi was very enjoyable and I hope I get to go back to try some other dishes. Ooh, and the restaurant itself is very nice as well :) read more

Da Noi is fantastic! Everytime we eat here I order something different and have yet to be dissapointed. The eggplant rolitini is my favorite! If you enjoy seafood, they have a nice selection of that as well. Parking is in the rear, but can get full quickly on weekends or holidays making it "fend for yourself" on the street time! We've only had a hard time parking once or twice out of all the times we've gone though. The restaurant is on the small side, but lovely inside. The staff is very friendly and very service oriented. If you're looking for a nice dinner out in the area, this is definately a place to check out. read more

Visited Da Noi for lunch just before picking up a guest at Newark Airport. When we walked in the decor is beautiful and as we sat down at the table, we saw the cloth table cloth and napkins which contributed to the classy atmosphere. We ordered the Calamary appetizer which was made real fresh, but nothing special. What was great were the entrees. I had a Spaghetti bolognese which had a very delicate and smooth meat sauce which had just the right mix of tastes. My wife had the mushroom risotto which was excellence and well made. Trying out a new restaurant is always a little sketchy. My family needed a new Italian restaurant to go to after Italia closed. After doing some searching on yelp, I came across Da Noi. We arrived there relatively early for dinner (around 6), so it wasn't crowded (the place did start to fill as we approached the end of our dinner). We were greeted by the staff as soon as we opened the door. The atmosphere is very cozy. The tables are not on top of each other (which is always a plus). We weren't rushed through our meals. Our appetizers were great (fried calamari & clams oreganata), dinners were excellent (pasta montanerra & veal) and the dessert was awesome ( zabaglione w/ strawberries---totally recommend this). I highly recommend this place if you are looking for something new to try. It was a very good dining experience. read more

Treatment was absolutely awful. Not only did they overcharge for the number of bottles of wine ordered but charged $125 for THREE antipasto plates, Which were on regular sized dinner plates. The waiter argued with me over him making a $100 mistake after he gave me the bill. And got argumentative and nasty.
