My friend and I have a years-long tradition of going to throwback Italian-American spots in the metro area. We have a spreadsheet and track notes and thoughts of our experiences. I recently became aware of this place, and to say we found it intriguing would be an understatement. I've been here twice now, and I can honestly say that the food is great and the experience is one-of-a-kind. You call and make a reservation, and yes, you order ahead of time after they send you a text of the menu. No walk-ins. Angelina makes the food fresh and it arrives fresh. Mama don't play games. The decor ... yanno what? You could say a lot of things about it. I for one like when places are unique. This place is certainly unique. If the decor doesn't meet your liking, my advice is that you mark that as part of your experience, and move on. The food is worth it! Over my two visits there so far, I have sampled the lasagna (one of the best I have ever had), veal marsala (deelish), linguine with clam sauce (phenomenal), chicken parm (fantastic) and of course their standard pasta side (perfectly cooked and sauced) and their bread (insanely good). But the lobster bisque steals the show every time. I can't not get it when I go. Ever. It's a whole lobster tail in a delicious soup. Unreal! I can honestly say Angelina does not EVER cut corners in her cooking and it shows. Get yourself here, whatever it takes. If I can convince a Manhattanite who never leaves the Upper East Side to eat to come across the river, then you certainly have no excuse. Don't be surprised if you see me there.

My husband and I absolutely love Angelinas restaurant in Bayonne. The food is fabulous, the portions are huge! There is a bit of a wait because the owner is the hostess, the chef, and the server. It's cash only. Trust you will not be disappointed Omg the bread! Hubba! Hubba! The clams, the mussels, the lobster tails, the salmon! We go every week to try something new from the menu!

Angelina's is one of my top picks for girls night dinners! My girlfriends and I love coming here for a long, leisurely dinner with some of the best home cooked Italian food that we have ever had. Angelina and her son run the place and Angelina is the one and only chef! She scratch makes everything to order, and the food is delicious!! The restaurant is small, only about 6-7 tables, and once a table orders, their food is prepared to order. Some might not like this because orders don't come out in minutes ... but good things take time! While you wait, you are given delicious warm bread and (if you choose) hearty pours of wine. Most people that come here are frequent visitors so it's not uncommon to get into a friendly conversation with another table. The food is beyond !! Portions are massive, literally. I have never come here without leftovers that last me for 2 more meals. The stuffed artichoke is something that you will dream about. The chicken parm and eggplant rollitini are the best versions of these classics that you will have. Penna in scratch made vodka sauce - divine. Spaghetti with clams - amazing. I am confident that anything you order off of the menu will be what you expect and more! Give this neighborhood favorite a try!

This place is great. Best Italian food around PERIOD. Family run and the owner couldn't be nicer. It's rare that you find both awesome food and big portions. Owner cooks everything herself ensuring perfection and consistency. We ordered 2 chicken parms but really only needed one. Great taste and cooked to perfection. Adding a mid meal pic. Interior kind of reminds me of a movie set. Cash only and can't wait to go back for some awesome Italian food.

Hello, the wonderful staff at my favorite restaurant Americano!…read moreHappy Easter to all! Such meaningful Holiday was celebrated by all this Easter of 2026! The place was packed with well dressed people! It was like one happy family came to celebrate life! My boyfriend and I came for a Sunday brunch! We were there for dinner the night before on Saturday and truly enjoyed the food, especially a lovely surprise- 2 singing guitar players! I could sing along every song they played! I had my favorite antipasto salad, chicken Marsala with mushrooms, my boyfriend had the wedge salad, chicken parmigiana, and for desert we shared the amazing napoleon.. I learned that their pastry chef bakes fresh pastries every morning! I also love the coconut cake - it's amazing! I want to thank everyone who worked so hard to create a special Valentine's party! Every woman received a long stem white or red rose in its own water holder! There were rose petals on the floor and every song played was a Love song! What a lovely touch making every woman so special! I truly felt loved! And thank you for a special Valentine menu, which included heart shaped ravioli, heart shaped pizza, special $8.00 non- alcoholic drinks with little marshmallows in them.. The place was booked for Valentine's! Every table was taken! Dear Americano! Thank you for creating such an amazing place that makes me feel like home every time! I enjoyed the 8 piece Latin band.. I even got to dance a bit.. Keep up the good work! Im grateful to have a place like this right here in Bayonne, practically in my back yard.. I can listen to live jazz without traveling to NYC! Dear Lance! Thank you for such brave idea to create a James Bond/Hollywood style restaurant! Bayonne really needed that! Sometimes when I'm there I get confused, thinking I'm in NY City! And I can actually walk home! Amen! I can't wait for May 19th jazz group - Champion Fulton - a lady jazz pianist who sounds like Billy Holiday, great saxophone player - recording artists from NYC. It's my boyfriend's birthday .. he licked out! Thank you! Sophia

Staff is very professional and friendly, always making sure everyone is having a good time. Honestly, all the food is great here but some of my favorites are definitely the carpaccio and calamari appetizer (the calamari is the BEST I ever had, hands down) and their coffee panacota for dessert is also out of this world, just amazing! I went here for lunch today with my husband and brother-in-law. The ambiance outside was very nice…read more It reminded me of the islands. The food, however, is another story. For appetizers, we got zucchini chips, fried calamari and mussels. The calamari was fried too hard and it had a very salty, spicy Chilean type sauce over it. The zucchini chips were thinly sliced, lightly battered with Parmesan cheese sprinkled over them. They were decent but nothing to write home about. In fact, after having about six or seven of the zucchini chips I began to experience heartburn from the grease. For entrees, my husband had the chicken parm. He said it was too thick and should have been flattened more before frying. It was also very breaded. My brother-in-law ordered the chicken and waffles and he said the chicken tasted day old so after having a bite of one piece of the chicken he pushed the chicken aside and called it a day. I called the waiter over and informed him about the chicken tasting day old. He didn't try to change it out or take it off the bill or get a manager. He just apologized by saying I'm sorry. My crab Mac and Cheese was decent. It wasn't seasoned the way I would have liked but the huge, plentiful chunks of crab made up for that. I ate a third of my dish and packed the rest for home where I will doctor it up to my taste. I've never been to this particular restaurant before. The only reason we came today is because my brother-in-law was here on business and staying at a hotel in the area.

Cozy and definitely feels like an old school Italian restaurant. Servers are welcoming and super friendly. Attentive but not too attentive. We made a reservation by calling, it was busy but there were still a few tables empty on a Saturday night. The bartender greeted us with a big smile. Honestly this place should be busier it's much better than the other Italian restaurants in town. We started off with calamari. $20. Perfect texture, and flavor. Not too salty, and not chewy at all. It was delicious. I got chicken martini off the specials menu, and it was two thin sliced chicken breasts in a lemon caper sauce with tomatoes and artichokes. It was exactly what I wanted and the chicken was soft, moist and delicious. It's a little pricey for the portion I think it was $34 but it wasn't the biggest plate of food. My husband got a pasta dish that he loved, it was homemade stuffed pasta with spinach and cheese. The menu had a lot of creative dishes on there, not all typical Italian dishes you would normally find. Dinner comes with fried polenta and carrots and broccoli which is a nice touch. There is another Italian restaurant in Bayonne that does that, I haven't seen that done before I moved here. I do like it! It's nice that a side like that is complimentary. And the bread is complimentary as well, it's a big baguette and it was super soft and flavorful but crunchy on the outside, very good for free bread! I also liked how they had two sets of forks so you didn't have to keep your appetizer fork for dinner. They also box the food up in the back so you don't have to do it yourself. Excellent service. I would definitely come back here again.
