Great food & service. The place was packed even though it's a Wednesday evening because they were having a dine-in fundraiser for Furvana Cat Rescue. The place is nicely decorated, very charming and welcoming. I had a nice Pinot grigio, my date had Pinot Noir. Both were very good. We skipped appetizers and ordered dinner because we arrived late. I ordered the Grilled Cod with Mussels Oreganata, and my friend had Linguine with White Clam Sauce. He said he liked it better than at his usual place because the flavor was well balanced. My Cod was excellent, capers & all. We skipped dessert & coffee because we had to get home, but I will definitely go back. Everyone working there was friendly and had a smile on their faces. I was delighted to step into an old-timey establishment, prepared to celebrate red sauce for the moment instead of yearning for lost or distant Italian spots in JC, Queens and elsewhere, so it was a surprise to find out they opened in 2007. I was in the mood for classics. The chicken parm had an awesome blast of cheese and the side ziti was generously sauced. Passed by a few times and decided to check it out . Here is how it went ... The decor is adorable and the atmosphere is nice . Food : food tastes good but the presentation is not exactly the best Drinks : they should either get an experienced bartender or get a bigger variety of alcohol in order to make some drinks , not everyone drinks beer . Sometimes people need cocktails . Service : service is ok but could use some training for a more welcoming and attentive customer service . I feel like people are just everywhere and you have to check with them in order to ask for things instead of them asking what you need . Came here with my parents. I really like this place! So warm and cozy inside. It was pretty busy on a Saturday night, we didn't have a reservation but there was a table available and we also got parking on the street outside. Next time I'm going to call for a reservation! Waiter was super nice and funny. They have an option for half pitcher of sangria for only $14! It lasted for 5 glasses of sangria! The sangria was very sweet but I liked it. Bread is given for the table. My chicken parm was good, it wasn't a huge portion though. And the tomato sauce was a bit too spicy for me. The chicken was thin, juicy and tender. My mom's chicken wasn't as tender it and it was more chewy, it was chunks of chicken, It was the pollo scarpariello. My dad got the halibut and my husband got the sole, the sole was my fav dish! It was so soft and the flavor was light and it tasted very good. Desserts were affordable and tasty. Nothing spectacular but still very good. What a pleasant surprise! Great ambiance, service was good, and the food was reasonably priced, with generous portions and a great taste. The last time I had been here was in 2006 and I honestly did not remember the experience at all, so I had to try it again. I'm glad I did. We decided against an app or dessert, since it was a school night. So my friend got the chicken scapariello, and I got the linguine di mare. Both were very good. What I liked about the sauces was that they were simple. The tomato sauce on the linguine did not contain an abundance of offensive herbs like oregano, but also wasn't too sweet. The sauce over the chicken was great, and the sausage was of good quality. Also, the bread that came to the table was piping hot and absolutely delicious. Nice touch. The portions were generous. I finished up all my fish and could only handle a couple of fork-fulls of the pasta, which was perfectly cooked. Had a cordial to end the evening, but next time I fully plan on getting either the zabaglione or the cannoli. Maybe I'll see ya there! Because you should come here and eat. read more

This restaurant is an absolute gem. My friends who live in Bayonne took me on a Friday night (apparently the best time to go). Let's start with the food: delicious! We started out by sharing the eggplant rotini in vodka sauce and the broccoli rabe. Everything was so flavorful. I branched out and tried the pasta Lila, which was so fresh and summery, topped with a variety of veggies and olives. Along the way we shared a pitcher of sangria--definitely order this if you're a sangria fan. We finished with spumoni and espresso martinis. Perfection. But that's not all... the atmosphere: 10/10! There's live entertainment in the form of a singer on an electric keyboard belting out hits from folks like Sinatra, Barry White and more. There were many celebrations happening at the restaurant that night and lots of dancing. But apparently that happens every Friday, Birthdays and graduations aside. We joined the crowd and had the best time, dancing and laughing with new friends of all ages. I can't wait for my next visit. read more

KP Sarelli's is located downtown Bayonne. It has ample street parking and it's close to Rt 440 and the 8th St. light rail station. The menu is robust but ordering off the menu is not a problem. Entrées are reasonably priced and the portions could feed 1.5 adults. I rarely leave without a dish of leftovers. The host and waiters are attentive and mgmt. (Sal) is constantly watching to ensure the customers are satisfied. On Friday and Saturday there is live music that allows you to have table conversations and enjoy in comfort. The pizza is thin crust and is a nice entry point appetizer to your meal, or it could be the meal. Personal favorites: Rigatoni Bolognese, Fusilli and Pesto, Baked Ziti, Polo Sant'Elena, Polo Scarpariello, Bistecca Tagliata (Sirloin), and Porcini Risotto with Shrimp. I always start with the calamari at this place, it's almost like a must have for me. The steak and potatoes are amazing, again, this might be a must for me too. Bayonne is filled with pizzerias that have amazing Italian food, as for sit down restaurants this is my fav local place to go. It's a few blocks from my parents house. It's usually quiet during the week. Street parking is easy. I love so many of the apps I rarely order the entrees, but I do love those little croquettes they give you with the entree. Their vodka sauce is the perfect amount of creamy-ness and delicious. Penne vodka with fresh mozzarella added can be done... they will make anything you ask too, which I love. My fav apps are the eggplant rollintini -it's smothered in cheese and pink sauce, you barely know it's eggplant and of course the beef carpaccio, they are not stingy with the beef and it's a perfect combo with the lemon, arugula and parmesan shavings. They used to give you pieces of bread with olive spread and parmesan on top when you sat down but they didn't do this last time I was there :/ Be patient, everything is made to order and your usually there for quite a bit. read more

Our experience wasn't good at all and it wasn't the fault of the kitchen, it was our waiter. I am not sure he understood English. First we ordered Margherita Salad with the dressing on the side. We were brought two plates of salad( for two to share) with dressing on it. Before ordering my food, I asked how was the fish prepared and if it had any breading on it. On the menu it indicated it was fish Florentine on a bed of spinach. Not being familiar with their menu since this is our first time there, I cannot have gluten. So I asked if breading was part of the fish preparation. He said it didn't have breading. so I also asked about the salmon. My last statement to him was- ok so to be on he safe side I will have the fish ( Filet of some Florentine). I was made believe it was pan fried without breading!! My God, can't tell you!!! It was fried fish , breaded on a bed of spinach with a wine sauce that was also probably prepared with flour for thickness! I am dying! My friend asked if she could have pasta on the side with red sauce, he immediately said it came on the plate with the the balsamic sauce. We had never hear about pasta on Balsamic vinegar! Horror story! Yes ! He didn't even offered advice. I guessed he knew the Menu so well, no space for customers request! It wasn't edible, my friend did not eat the pasta. The bus boy was nice. We commented to him about the fish and the pasta on the balsamic sauce, he knew and understood and told us ppl never have the pasta on balsamic. . . Bottom line is we decided to leave without eating desert. The man who was our waiter either didn't speak English or is not familiar with the menu. He was not helpful at all! He was the only person serving tables tonight, I understand he was alone but when we arrived there was only one full table. We may go back, not sure, but hope we can be attended by someone who knows the menu and can be helpful and offer suggestions. Sorry, but we didn't have a positive experience here except for the young man who brought the water, the salad and food to our table! He was very nice and when I explained I could not have Gluten he understood and told us he also couldn't eat gluten. I am sure the chef would have made some accommodations for us é.g. Send the zurrí with red sauce, but the waiter who took the order was not helpful at all. Not sure if we can recommend this restaurant. It was highly recommended by a friend who lives in Bayonne. We live in Staten Island where there are tons of Italian places with much better service. Please be mindful next time of your customers and answer questions knowing what you are talking about! read more

Started with hot crusty bread served with butter or oil, mozzarella en carrozza with marinara & a white salad (not on menu). For dinner i had broiled sole over spinach, which was cooked perfect & delicious, chicken parmigiana & veal parmigiana which both people loved. Finished off with a nice cappuccino.
