I was looking for some Que around Clearwater and Tampa. Q Southern BBQ was along my route and very highly rated so it became my choice. Immediately when I walked in, I had employees there to help me with my selections. I wanted to try ribs, brisket, and pulled pork but they could only give me ribs in a half rack. With that information and my budget, I went with the 1/2 lb brisket and 1/4 pulled pork. The brisket was immaculate! It was juicy with a good bit of bark and fat. Everything you want from a brisket unless you are one of those who love the dry lean variety. The pulled pork was great too! For my sides, I asked the employee what he favorite was and she said mac and cheese without any hesitation. It was a superb choice as it was Cheesy and gooey. For my other side, I debated between beans and loaded baked potato salad. I went with the beans since they looked great, had bourbon, and I just had potato salad. Beans were also a superb choice with its smokiness and bourbon flavor. I loved the sauces as there are 7 - KC, Texas, Kentucky, Tampa, NC, SC, and Bama (have to ask for). The NC and SC you want for your pork. The NC is a very thin vinegar sauce that will do nothing but make a mess on brisket but the pulled pork soaks it in. The SC is a mustard BBQ sauce that just pairs well with pork. Bama sauce is a mayo base sauce that I would use only for chicken or turkey. The other 4 sauces all matched well with brisket. I liked the Kentucky the best with its bourbon flavor. The Tampa is a mild tomato base. The KC had a rich tomato flavor to it and Texas was a spicy tomato base. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. I went with 4 because the young lady at the counter was very friendly, the food was delicious, and they have Royal Crown cola on tap. Why, then, would I consider giving them only 3 stars? Because the pricing is absolutely insane. I know it's tough for restaurants these days to make money. That said...with a 15% gratuity, I paid $37 for 3/4 pound of BBQ chicken, a large side of collard greens, 2 baby ears of corn, and a fountain drink. Was it worth it? I mean, it was really good...but was it close to FORTY FREAKING DOLLARS good? I don't think any fast casual BBQ place is. You order at the counter and they bring it over to your table Meats are by the lb, but you don't have to get a full pound - so you can sample a little or a lot. We had the feast for 2 and only had 4 potatoes left over. Son got 1/2 pound each of smoked bologna and sausage with a side of Mac n cheese and corn - He's 6'4" and needed a box! Cute inside with plenty of seating and paper towels on the table with a full sauce bar. Country music playing inside and a TV for sports watching. This place finally opened in Oldsmar! We kept looking for the opening and when I checked the site there were reviews, so open! Our Sunday luncheon group this consisted of my wife, my eldest daughter, her daughter and a friend. We arrived around 12:30 and were immediately seated. A trend I guess is to order and pay at the counter, so we probably took longer than we should have. The two twenty-something girls each got a Pulled Pork Sack Lunch with a drink and chips for $9. The rest of us decided to try the Feast For Two, including Brisket, Ribs, Sausage, Wings, Potatoes and Corn, for $50. I also ordered half pint of Coleslaw, pint of Brunswick Stew, and a quart of Beans. I jokingly asked if they ever heard of North Carolina Vinegar Sauce, almost NO one has heard of it. They answered they not only heard of it but they have it and sells bottles of it. Then they offered me a taste to make sure it was what they said. It was!!! Ahhh! The song "Almost Heaven..." came to mind. AND they also carried the South Carolina Mustard Sauce. WoW. Just Wow. The girl's Sack Lunches came quickly. Our Feast was about 10 minutes wait, but well worth it. They bring it out and normally season all the meat, including salt, but we declined since my wife, and I are on no/low salt. So, they spread it out on the table. The Girl's loved their sandwiches. The Brunswick Stew was best I ever had, not a lot of veggies, almost all meat. Brisket was great, nice slices and just enough fat, cooked perfectly. Sausage was loved by my wife and daughter. Ribs, Coleslaw, and Beans were very good also. My only regret was that the Feast did not include Pulled Pork. Maybe a suggestion or swap in the future. And there was so much meat, we took the leftovers home and made two more meals of it. Then before we were stuffed, we had to try their Peach and Apple Cobblers, so I got a pint of each. We all tried each of it and were divided on which was the best, both were delicious. Most of the Cobblers came home with us also, for the next day. Very friendly and welcoming, excellent food and nice prices. I will be back very soon for the Pulled Pork sandwich. This is an interesting little place in the shopping strip behind Thornton's on Tampa rd and Forest Lakes blvd. On Tuesday night they have trivia starting at 6pm. We had their adult grilled cheese sandwiches which have chunks of brisket along with the cheese. Their cucumber salad was delicious but the collard greens were chewy and lacked flavor.
