I was attempting to find a more healthier menu that is more farm to table and not so commercial or over the top with gastro foods. I came across this restaurant through a search and I am so glad we did. Unfortunately, we had to do takeout as it was brought to us for a lunch break and we are 40 minutes away so it wasn't at the temperature the they would have served it to or the presentation - our fault. But theirs at all. It wasn't through a delivery service either so I cannot fault anyone but us. What I can say is the food is phenomenal. The brussel sprouts are some of the absolute best I have ever had and the others agreed. The tuna was to perfection. The refinery salad, we added shrimp, also amazing. The bulgogi - no fat or gristle, tender and flavorful. We also got a flatbread- rest in pieces. Someone bumped into our sacrificial delivery person and it went everywhere. We heard it was aromatic and had it not been on the sidewalk of a downtown high traffic area it may have been a Friends cheesecake moment in the hallway. Overall, definitely want to go to the actual restaurant now. There are other items I would love to try and the consensus is that this would be a fabulous date night restaurant. We have been a long time patron of the owner's coffee shop, Urban Grounds, also located in Main Street in Tarpon Springs. We finally had a chance to try her new concept, Refined Roots. The restaurant has great ambience sitting in the up front area. We were being seated near the kitchen to begin with and it was a different vibe. We asked to sit up front and they were happy to move us. They have a little patio that is cute also. All food came out fast. Our waitress was very attentive. We started with the Urban Sprouts as the appetizer. Delicious and the whipped feta was super creamy. Our entrees were the Truffle and Wild Mushroom Risotto and Lemon Dijon Chicken. The risotto came out piping hot and had just the right amount of truffle to not be overpowering. I requested a change with the chicken and there was no issue. The chicken is normally panko crusted. I requested just a grilled chicken breast which was juicy and flavorful. Our thoughts for some tweaks would be: - leave a carafe of water at the table. The server needed to refill often - I should have asked for the dressing on the salad to be put in the side. There was too much for my liking. The dish overall was tasty! - a little crostini with the risotto would have been a nice touch. We highly recommend and look forward to trying another meal or even brunch soon! read more

To think that I ever doubted this place last review...Urban Roots has clearly always had its A-game. New items were also added to the menu, and I must say they are very impressive. In any case, let's get into it! So, I tried a few things before and after the third menu change, and I've some thoughts of the good sort. Once more their environment is clean and very classy, and they've even a patio in the back for any outdoor fans. The waiters and waitresses are still all polite, and they as well as the chef definitely listen to what the customer wants. Prior to the third menu change, I first tried the Smoked Pork Belly, which has a unique spin that seemed very reminiscent of Indian cuisine. I must admit I was rather surprised at how flavorful the cauliflower was and how well it meshed with the curry and cashews; Definitely a hit, and a show that the 2nd menu had many hidden gems which I overlooked! A month later, when the 3rd change happened, I tried the Turkey Burger Caprese (Which replaced "The gobbler" from the 2nd menu update) and it definitely brings memories of the Turkey Burger that was on the first menu...Infact, I'd say the 3rd variant actually surpasses the original recipe! The pesto spread actually compliments the turkey patty better than the avocado spread ever did. An absolute masterpiece that I intend to have as many times as I can. Not too long after,I tried one of their newer items, the Garden noodles, which felt like a unique spin on Pasta Agio e Olio and absolutely loved it. To put it in perspective, I remember a year ago at my sister's dinner reception I had tried Pasta Aglio e Olio for the first time, and I found the unique vegetable-based dish to be quite palatable and memorable...Urban Roots' Garden noodles builds upon the recipe, enhances it, and mixes it with various herbs and pistachios which brought back that wonderful feeling once more but multiplied it due to the plethora of flavors, leaving behind a feeling of nostalgia and satisfaction. Outside of food, they have come with a new mocktail known as the "Mocktail Era"; I must admit it's slightly less sweeter, but it's definitely reminiscent of a mojito which I can definitely appreciate. And of course, last but not least, their newest soup is the Spicy Tomato soup. Not much to say there, but when they say spicy, they mean well seasoned. Don't worry, you won't burn your mouth with this one! But remember, this is just what I've had; There are many things for you as a patron to try, and many I yet to try but cannot wait to! Overall this restaurant truly has blossomed over the course of almost 5 months, and while it has taken some time for it to figure out its menu, that it's always coming up with something new and innovative which always sets it apart from most restaurants in Tarpon Springs which always keeps me coming back. In spite of whatever criticisms I had of the 2nd menu change in my previous review, it was definitely for the best (I know I previously acted as if the 1st was the best, but even I knew there were a few misses on that version), and the 3rd menu update thus far feels like the best menu thus far. May Urban Roots continue to dig its roots into Tarpon Springs and leave its mark in the same way its sister location has! read more

I came here for the first time this past weekend. My boyfriend and I came for their brunch and it did not disappoint. First off, the deviled eggs with bacon jam were delicious. Sweet and savory! The ambiance inside is so relaxing and cozy. The service was great as well. The food came out very quickly. We ordered the dad bod bowl (DELICIOUS) And the badass burger. The burger was tasty but my favorite was the dad bod bowl. The steak was so tender and the cheese sauce was heavenly. I would definitely order that again! Found this incredible spot while in Tarpon Springs for a day visit and so excited I did! From the moment we walked in the staff greeted us smiling and friendly. Was very knowledgeable about the menu. Absolutely fantastic brunch date this Saturday. The food and cocktails were amazing. We had pink vegan toast, salmon toast, yogurt parfait, chicken sandwich and eggs Benedict. Delicious! We also got cocktails and those were some of the best I've had in a while! The mojito was perfect! My only concern was that the server messed up our bill, twice. We went with friends and half of our order was on theirs and half of theirs was on ours. We spoke with her and she immediately apologized and went to straighten it out. Another fantastic yelp find! We had planned a long bike ride and Tarpon Greek has historically been our go to on the way home. I love Costa, but it's anything but healthy and options to eat more vegetarian or whole food plant based are limited. After searching for "salads", I found Refined Roots and boy oh boy what a find. This could be one of my favorite restaurants I've been to in Pinellas county (more visits are necessary). Folks have called the menu eclectic; I'd reckon it to a modern American with a great farm to table vibe. If meat and fried food is your jam... Never fear. The French fries were really awesome and they have multiple options. However, if you are feeling like something healthier with more plant based offerings or gluten free, the bowls are delicious. We will be back and hopefully next visit will be for dinner where we can have some vino! The restaurant was clean, modern and cool. The bartenders are friendly and the drinks are fine; unfortunately, the menu suffers from small and overpriced portions. The worst thing they do here is serve food on a completely flat plate with a shallow rim, spreading a tiny portion very, very thinly to attempt to trick us into thinking it's a larger portion. Frankly it's insulting, as if we've never eaten at other restaurants and don't know what a satisfying portion is, but also because at their prices you do expect more filling portions. This is a place to come when you're not very hungry, otherwise you will order multiple dishes and pay the price. You can tell the markup from each dish is massive, as for example we all know what some rice and mushrooms cost. Offering a $42 steak that's not a porterhouse or filet at a bar is ignorant. I was reconsidering the 3 star rating, but then I specifically remembered how small the portions for the ceviche and shrimp orzo were, and at full price. They also don't have a "hook" dish, something unique or extra good to draw people back. Nothing on their menu makes me want to go back. Turkey burger, regular burger, chicken sandwich, grilled freaking cheese sandwich; they try to act bougie, but did a 5 year old design the menu, what's next, $30 dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets? Bottom line: has potential because of great space, indoor and outdoor bar options, but needs a menu overhaul. read more
