Not only does the owner really care about his customers, but there has never been a time we have placed an order and the food would be less than 100% top quality. I highly recommend the mac & cheese, greens yams, and baked beans basically all of the sides and none of the meats have ever disappointed me! So I recently got a desk drop at my desk that the following Tuesday we were going to have a catered work event catered by Daddy O's Smokehouse.I personally had never heard of this restaurant,so I was more than intrigued at the idea of trying a new business and a BBQ one at that. So on the day of the event I saw them setting up in the back lot and boy did it smell pretty good. They were serving over 200 people at this event so my expectations were held in check. This is what they served that day and what I thought about them. Tri-Tip-My favorite item of the event-perfectly made,seasoned well,textured perfectly-left me with a smoky taste in my mouth for hours-9.25/10 item BBQ Chicken-I'm a pretty harsh bbq chicken critic and I was more than pleasantly surprised on this one-tasted great-smoky flavor-juicy-a solid piece of meat-8.1/10 item Potato Salad-another surprise on the high quality taste here-tangy yet rich,very creamy,potatoes held their shape-I enjoyed it thoroughly-7.75/10 item Baked Beans-They were just ok-they tasted good when mixed with the potato salad-I'm not a baked beans guy historically,so I'm the wrong audience for this dish-7.0/10 item. I am deeply disappointed by the service I received at Daddy O's Smokehouse on July 4th. I placed a catering order four days in advance for a 2:45 PM pickup so I could enjoy a holiday meal with my family. I arrived at 2:30 PM, checked in, and was told I could wait in my vehicle due to my disability. I appreciated that courtesy, but unfortunately the remainder of the experience was unacceptable. After waiting nearly 40 minutes with no update, I returned inside and was told--without any attempt to verify--that my order was not ready. I was asked again to wait in my vehicle. Twenty minutes later, I returned a second time and received the same response. During this period, multiple walk‑in customers were served promptly while my pre‑ordered catering tray remained unprepared. At one point, I was asked whether I wanted a credit, which felt dismissive given that I simply wanted the food I had ordered and paid for. My order was finally brought out at approximately 4:05 PM, more than an hour past the scheduled pickup time. Staff placed the tray on a table and walked away, leaving me to inspect it myself. The proprietor briefly appeared but did not engage, and the tray was left unattended. Other patrons observed the situation and offered assistance carrying the food to my vehicle due to my mobility limitations. Only then did an employee step forward to help. The BBQ at Daddy O's has always been excellent, but the service I received on this occasion was unprofessional and disrespectful. Given the significant cost of the catering order and the disregard shown throughout the process, I will not be returning. Good day Daddy O's Smokehouse, Sir I am an old man and at no time disrespected your employees nor raised my voice. The insinuation that this occurred is insulting. You can tell they put real time into the smoke because every bite had that perfect balance of charred bark and juicy inside. The portions here are no joke . Very generous and definitely worth the price. I loved the classic sides like the creamy mac & cheese, fluffy mashed potatoes, tangy coleslaw, and the sweet yams that tied everything together. Everything tasted fresh and seasoned just right, not bland or "out of the box" like you get at some spots. On top of the food, the whole experience just feels like good comfort BBQ done right. The sauce on the side was rich and smoky, but honestly the meats were so good they didn't even need it. This spot is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Last week went to a place in midtown.Also very good, but didn't do it for me. Here I was able to get the best barbecue.I've had in at a price that compared to others.Is hands down no competition. The brisket is tender with just enough fatty bits. The ribs smoked just right and the epitome of tenderness. Had the potatoe salad and BBQ beans. Both great! A dinner roll was also thrown in. As far as value goes, the brisket lunch plate for twenty dollars came with three long strips of brisket two sides, a roll in barbecue sauce. The place I went to this past weekend for ten dollars gave me two 3-in pieces for $10. I was shocked at that....I am ecstatic here at Daddy O's. read more

As we were having just a small Christmas Eve dinner, we decided to forego our usual roast and decided to order brisket and ribs with their catering options. Compared to some other places the prices were very reasonable, placed my order online and the next day I received confirmation that my order would be ready at the time I selected. I had a few catering pickup orders that day and they never confirmed my order so that was demurely a plus! When I picked up the order, we were a little early but luckily it wasn't a problem. The portions were very good and it was definitely enough for 4 people and then left overs the next day. The ribs were tender and meaty, the sauce was very different to my usual sauces, I usually prefer sweeter maybe honey bbq sauces but this complimented the seasonings perfectly. The star of the show was the brisket. I follow this shop on Facebook and I've been meaning to try their brisket for years but I'm never in the Rancho Cordova area. This was amazing and totally worth it. I need to come back and try their steaks. I highly recommend everyone try it, the owner is great and he knows brisket. This is the only place I will get it now. During the pandemic I became an amazing chef. BBQ is my specialty. That's why I grade bbq establishments a little harder when it comes to my reviews. A lot of times I know I can make a much much better meal at home. Well that definitely is NOT the case with Daddy O's chicken AND pork ribs (beef are my specialty). They both were very tender and delicious! The collard greens were a little salty and the bbq sauce tasted watered down and more tomato based than sweet and hickory like I prefer. When you come in, there's a couple of menu boards right at the register. They have classic BBQ options, and they have a wine list. To the left, there's books about African history and black figures, along with some bar seating and a wall of wine bottles. To the right, there's lots of seating at regular tables. There's also seating outside (similar to the ones you see at public parks). The temperature inside is okay, but when it's warmer outside, it becomes warm inside as well. I'm not sure if they have A/C, but I didn't feel it. There's decent parking available. The staff are pleasant, but the service can be a bit slow. I once was standing at the register for a couple of minutes before anyone approached me. The wait for food can be between 15 and 35 minutes. When I saw the price ($30-$35), I thought it was steep, but when I tasted the food and saw the portion sizes, it was absolutely worth it. There's lunch and dinner options. I would recommend getting the dinner option because you already get portions enough for 2 people, but you get an extra roll. I've had the brisket, ribs, mac & cheese, collard greens, and rolls. Everything tastes amazing. The brisket and mac & cheese truly are perfect. I appreciate that they cover the food with foil in the box, have the rolls above the foil, and place it in a plastic bag (because juices will spill from it). I'm extremely picky when it comes to BBQ because too often the meat is dry and the sides taste like they've been sitting out all day. My kids and I stopped by this place on Thursday and picked up a couple of two-meat plates to go. Both were loaded with ribs and brisket. One came with mac and cheese and BBQ beans, the other with mac and cheese and candied yams. From the moment we got in the car the smell of the food was mouthwatering When we finally sat down to eat, the portions blew us away. The brisket was incredibly juicy, the ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and every bite was packed with flavor. The sides were just as delicious! I ordered the two meat combo and had to pay extra for each meat! Make it make sense. Payed an extra 5 dollars for brisket to get 3 pieces that were tough and chewy. Extra 3 dollars for the ribs which were just ok. I have never been to a bbq restaurant ordered a meat combo and had to pay extra for the meat. Im a sucker for southern bbq and that's a really tough find here in California. Traditional southern bbq, like the food they serve here, is insanely time consuming and takes a serious amount of experience to accomplish. It's actually one of the more fascinating cuisine options because it's so simple, but so easy to screw it up if you don't have the patience and experience of a live wood fire. Now, I didn't see the smoker til we headed to the car and algae already devoured our dinner. If you're not familiar with smoking meats, this smoker is the exact opposite of your fancy pants pellet smoker. This massive smoker requires a pit master and every detail is mastered by hand and by eye. It's absolutely amazing how they can toss a slab of ribs and brisket in a smoker and let it work its magic. I'm obsessed with this place and I want to learn how to cook like this. Food: 2 meat 2 sides and 2 rolls Brisket - deeply mahogany exterior with the fatty side rendered to perfection and seasoned exceptionally well. Simply salt and pepper I think. Tender, juicy, fatty, moist perfection. Burnt ends too and it was delicious. Pork ribs - absolutely delicious and perfectly seasoned. Fall apart as you take a bite and flavor explosion. No need for sauce but I tried it because I always want to taste flavors and combos. Really well done and super flavorful. Collard greens - not exactly the favorite of west coast peeps but I love collards. I love the simple and soulful preparation of greens and the texture and salty flavors are fantastic. Collard greens are an absolute staple of Southern cooking and this version was excellent. I love the flavor profile of collards they have been cooked properly. Beans - really flavorful and the right level of sweetness to offset the fatty goodness of bbq meat. Really good. Slaw - meh, it was okay. I'm not a big fan of slaw but I wanted something cold and this is decent. This is my new go to BBQ shop and I cannot wait to go back for more and try the Mac n cheese and tri tip and chicken and sausage. I am super impressed with this shop and I have mad respect for the staff, who clearly put in the effort to accomplish authentic and genuine bbq. Mad love fam. read more

This place is small, but the food is DELICIOUS! My husband got here around 5:45ish, service was quick and the food came out about 10-15 minutes later. Its a small casual place to have dinner or lunch with your family or yourself. The chicken was SUPER juicy and tender and the ribs were sooooo flavorful and tender. The BBQ sauce was immaculate, chef's kiss. I will say, if you dont like your BBQ sweet, you may not like it. I enjoyed it, it remind me of sweet baby Ray's bbq sauce, but better. The potatoe salad was soooo good and the slaw was just okay for me. I prefer a more mild slaw, don't get me wrong its good, just has a more vinegar taste to it, just preference, but give it a try! My only dislike is that the store itself closes at 7, but unfortunately if they run out of food, they close earlier and by the time we got off work at 5 and got home and then went there, they were already sold out of mac and cheese, yams, and brisket.
