I'm definitely coming back. This was my first time visiting this place and everything was delicious from the empanadas to paella plate. The service was great and we enjoyed eating at the little tables they have.

Maria's Paella was featured at the Sacramento Kings game and it was a must try. They featured their shrimp and chicken paella, and 3 different empanadas. I tried the paella ($12) and a chicken empanada ($8). I enjoyed both. The paella was flavored well and served with a slice of lemon . The empanada was also very good, with plenty of filling and the pastry wrap was the perfect texture. The chicken filling was a little on the spicy side with a lot of flavor. I'm glad I tried it because now, I would like to visit the restaurant for more paella options.

There was a line for paella so I figured it must be good, but I was disappointed. The rice was hard and gummy. The shrimp and chicken were bland. It was a difficult dish to enjoy. I had a few more bites before I gave up. Pass.

This review is for Kevin's churro! Fresh, hot, crispy churros. So delicious! Def will be back!!

Although Maria's looks large from outside it is actually very tiny on the inside as most of the area is kitchen space. There is 2 small tables inside a large picnic table outside. It's a good idea to order online as it can get busy in a hurry and there is limited space to wait around. I tried the paella and a beef empanada for lunch. The paella was stick to your ribs comfort food. The lemon wedge is needed to add some acid but we felt the paella was under seasoned. The star of Maria's is a sauce that seemed like a hybrid chile verde/chimichurri. This sauce made the paella and empanadas pop. We ordered several types of empanadas but haven't gotten a chance to eat them yet. If you like paella come on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday as those are the only days it is served at the brick and mortar. Maria's is a great spot to grab some handmade Spanish food.

This place brings life to the neighborhood. I have seen Maria at the farmers market for years and have been wanting to try the amazing smelling dishes. The place looks super cute. When you walk in it's literally just a counter and a couple tables but I think it would be uncomfortable to sit because people are standing there to order. This place is definitely best for to go orders I would say. There is a window where you can see the kitchen which is pretty cool. Kinda funky layout but if getting it to go it doesn't matter. On to the important part the food! It was so flavorful! I had the paella and Al pastor empeñada. The paella was chicken and shrimp cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The empeñada was great too! It did have chunks of pineapple in it which I didn't care for but the meat had tons of flavor. If you are looking for a quick flavorful meal definitely check out Maria's!

Order: Breakfast (chorizo), al pastor, chicken mole and chicharron (pork belly w green salsa). Fave: Al Pastor 3.5 for the empanadas. They're okay but with the sauce it's good. I think their dessert ones would be better. Need to try their paella. Conveniently on 16th down from Sunhouse cafe. Great service, tight space. I can picture myself having a seat there when the windows are open.

What a great find in a busy street. Ive passed her stall in Midtown Farmers market, but happy to see storefront! Empanada fillings were generous & flavorful-- particularly the chicken mole ( tho a bit of extra mole sauce on side as a salsa would be lovely. The chicken was plain, but salsa spiced it up. My husband was critical of empanada dough-/ not flakey enough for him I hope theyre able to get space next door for indoor dining. Their cafe chairs were cute & comfortable. Parking available in front, but hard to get out since on busy 16th street. Next time, Ill park on side street

SO GOOD!! First of all such a cool stand! The signs were beautiful and the giant paella pans were so cool! She made it right there in front of you, so you could see how fresh it was! The flavors were so good and it was PACKED full of protein. The added lemon squeezed on top added the perfect amount of zest to the whole thing. The empanada I had was delish too. Was expecting it to be super rich since I got pork belly but it wasn't too bad! And only $5! I got a half size of the paella for $15 which also isn't too bad considering the amount of shrimp and chicken it had. The chef was super friendly and made sure everyone in line had their paella ready to go so even though the line was long it moved very fast. Overall I'm craving it writing this review and will def need to check out their storefront!

Delicious food. Empanadas to die for... so many flavors to try. Delicious sauce for empanadas. I tried 4 different kinds: beef, Al pastor, chicharrones and chicken. I ate them all without taking pictures. I will be back to try all the flavors. Sweet option is the brownie dulce de leche. Veggie option-Mushrooms spinach and vegan cheese. All the empanadas are stamped on the front so you can identify each of the different types. Each empanada is filled with bold flavors ratio of meat and dough is perfectly balanced. I also ordered the Chicken and Shrimp paella. Every bite was filled with equal amount of protein and rice. If you want to try delicious food come and try Maria's paella and empanadas, you won't be disappointed. Thanks Maria.

AKA a drag queen walking around and serving a guava Spritz to individuals that were of age to drink and a little bit of trinket making if you wanted to do that. I will call out that if you have a large party it is difficult to find places to sit because there are not a lot of tables underneath the covered area. There's also two tables outside the fence but one of them does not have an umbrella so just being mindful of if it's a sunny day you're going to get hot. So I will be honest I came in a little skeptical about how the food was going to taste because a friend of mine had stated they had come to forgotten bakery about a year ago and he said that he was not very impressed with the food and drink options. I am happy to report that when we went everything was delicious with a capital D. The empanadas that we got: beef chilean, guava; were absolutely phenomenal. The crust of the empanada was perfectly golden brown, and the texture was firm enough where when you opened up the empanada that held its shape well and the feeling inside to not fall easily. Of all of them I would say my top pick in the topic of my husband was the Chilean empanada. We are a suckers for the combination of sweet and savory together and then having that buttery crust is brought everything together. Also the oat milk latte was yummy creaminess is the easiest way to describe it. It went down a little too easily which almost made me get another one but I am sensitive to caffeine and I told myself I'll just have to come back later and get another drink from them. Lastly it is definitely off the beaten path, but so worth the trip to check out this fabulous little place.

They were sweet, but not overly so, which is the way I like it. We also got the bandeja paisa plate that was just ok. We felt the meat was on the dry side but the standouts were the plantains. With authentic flavors and food items, there's not many like it around town. Bodega serves up food from the Caribbean Islands. One of their most popular dishes is their jerk chicken. They have this both as a chicken wing appetizer and as a plated dinner. I personally really enjoy white meat when it comes to chicken and the dinner plate was leg and thigh so I opted to go with the wing appetizer. My only complaint about it was its size. I thought it could have had more wings as I thoroughly enjoyed each one with the jerk sauce I added to it. The wings were very crisp on the outside and full of flavor. Adding the jerk sauce or their house made hot sauces enhanced the flavor even more. I could really see myself coming just for these wings! I also had the Cubano sandwich. This hot, pressed sandwich has ham, cheese, pickles, and mustard. It's a popular item that also is bursting with flavor. The combination of all the ingredients was mouthwatering. It comes with a side of fries to round out the meal. Service at Bodega was very nice. We found the servers to be very patient with us and the food came out reasonably. I didn't want to write this review but I had a concern about something about the menu. I ordered the tequenos de pollo as an appetizer and the menu didn't say anything about it having cheese in which was perfect. I got the order and it in fact had cheese. I'm lactose intolerant and really sensitive to dairy so I asked about the cheese being in it. He confirmed it was in there, so I asked if they can just take it back- the waiter said no. I then asked if they can just take it off the bill because I couldn't eat it. He said no to that too. My husband doesn't eat meat and my son is lactose intolerant so it was going to be food wasted and money down the drain. I was pretty shocked because I've never been to a restaurant where they can't reasonable accommodate the guest. I then ordered my entree and the chicken was very dry and overcooked. I was not satisfied but I knew they wouldn't let me swap it for something else. Unfortunately I'm not going to rush to come back. The waiter was friendly enough but not accommodating. I get nervous when it comes to food allergies because now I know that some restaurants aren't disclosing food allergens which is actually not allowed. There are folks out here with life threatening allergies, so these places need to be careful. I'm glad I'm not one of those people but it's still disappointing.
