One star for multiple reasons. 1. Customer service was terrible. For a place with this many options, I wanted to know about a specific option. Some older miserable broad responded like I should know exactly how they make the swirls/blizzards and sundaes. *It was later in the evening and chilly out. It wasnt a busy day either. So I wasn't holding up the line if that's what some people are thinking. 2. Soft serve sucks I've gotten different flavors of soft serve before writing this review. The reason they're able to serve an insane amount of flavors is because of the dye and syrup/extract. None of it tastes like real ice cream, and they all just taste like a botched version of vanilla. So I ordered my cake from here from the first time and I was not impressed I was looking at cakes that they had advertised last week saying that their cake decorator was going to be going on vacation so I decided I wanted to order the cake that I saw on the Facebook page. When I open my cake I realize that the cakes were a little bit different I wanted to cake with that had the hot fudge rim around the cake like the one i saw. The response i got was well i didnt have a picture to go by because you didnt send me one. She also stated that that was the first cake she Had ever made. I went into the store to get a frape, which is always good, I ordered it and when I tried to pay for it there is now a ten dollar minimum to use a credit card. The only place i saw this posted was on the register when I went to pay. The server would not give me the frape without buying something else to bring the order over ten. First things first - the location, while it has great visibility, is pretty difficult to access if you aren't coming off the rotary. If you're driving from west Braintree you'll have to get onto the rotary and go all the way around to enter the parking lot. My partner is a self-professed ice cream lover (and snob). We tried the strawberry and rum-raisin flavors of hard ice cream. The rum-raisin was heavy on the rum-flavoring but the strawberry was disappointingly artificial. If you choose to eat your ice cream outside, you get a primo view of Motel 6 and the smell of car exhaust. For the price (~$3.25 for a regular size cup), I would rather sacrifice variety and pick up a pint of Ben and Jerry's and eat it in the comfort of my own home. read more

Welcome to Braintree, Daddy's Dairy! While Daddy's is one of my favorite ice cream spots, the locations haven't ever been too great or convenient. This one is right off the highway and will become a regular stop for me when heading to the beach or Cape Cod. Prices are good and the flavors are endless. It would take a lifetime to try them all! Ice cream cakes are available and tables inside are also available. This specific building has had so much turnover throughout the past few years, and which it can be difficult to get to from certain sides of certain roads (only one entrance from Union St southbound, and only one exit onto Union St southbound), it's one place that I think will stay in Braintree a long time because there isn't many ice cream places around (well there is inside the South Shore Plaza, but you aren't going to make the effort to go into the mall for only an ice cream cone, right!). Service is convenient and the atmosphere inside is bright, inviting and cheerful (unlike the dark and dim Daddy's Dairy in Stoughton). Staff seem very friendly, very organized and very interested in keeping this establishment well run and clean (two of my favorite factors). Conveniently located right off the highway, exit 17 off Rt 3, right at the entrance of the Braintree Marketplace on Union Street (first exit on the rotary). Great place, definitely suggested for ice cream in Braintree. read more

I bring my two year old boys to Daddy's Dairy weekly. We have had a decent experience however the one thing I do not understand is why is there always a sign "cash only". Tonight when we went there were two signs on the door. Then inside a Fancy "cash only". Usually when we go there's one sign and they always take my card. We waited in line for 10 mins. I've been coming here since it opened. Today there was a $10 card minimum which is fine but I have been using my card all along and never had an issue. My option was to chose another item on the spot while there was a large line or tip the difference. It was $4 and I would've tipped regardless but the fact it was nearly forced upon me was a little distasteful. Our ice creams were much smaller than they were in the summer even though we ordered the same sizes as usual. Lastly in terms of sanitation I noticed one employee handling ice cream and money without changing her gloves in between. That's a real health hazard especially during Covid. I called to order a specific flavor cake, the girl who picked up was really rude. She said they're closed on Thanksgiving, then said you can come in for any other cake, we just made one. So I said I'd like a specific flavor. Can I pick it up tomorrow then? Her response was " you have to order 4-5 days in advance, not the day before, okay thank you and hung up". Rude Customer service. Didn't get her name but she was an older lady in her 40s-50s. I tried to get the regular size cone, but she said she cant put the hard serve ice cream in it because they just got it so its soft, made me upgrade to a large. Never coming back to this place. It was my first time trying daddy's dairy. I went to get ice cream and they said I can only get vanilla or twist soft serve because I have a nut allergy. I then asked about hard ice cream and they said I can only have vanilla. Other ice cream places will wash the spoon and open up a new container with no problem if someone has a allergy. Went into daddy's dairy today with my 2 younger cousins. Great ice cream terrible customer service. The 4 female workers on shift tonight, didn't greet us when we walked in and we were the only customer. they chatted in the corner until I had to ASK FOR SERVICE. The girl who finally walked over still didn't greet us, she just stood there stared at us. Finally we received our ice cream an sat down to eat. Eventually more people came in, predominately white individuals an they were treated with great service an were ask if they needed anything. This is a great place to get ice cream. They have lactaid free options which is amazing because most ice cream places don't. And the ice cream is amazingly creamy and it's so delicious. I had a few instances with customer service and a few people ordering the wrong things. Such as the lady put my ice cream in a cup instead of a cone. Super bummed at Daddy's Dairy. My husband and I live very close and we have been so excited to try this place. We walked in and the lay out of a little confusing and there is marketing material everywhere. We ordered with a very sweet young lady and my husband got the Girl Scout, he said it was, "ok". I order the Butter Pecan, my favorite ice cream of all time. Not only did it not have Pecans but all of their soft serves are liquid flavoring. That's not good and broke my heart. The hard serve ice cream flavors that my family and I have tried over five visits now have all been very good to excellent. The soft serve is the same as EVERY other place.. the flavors are added when you order and are from a bottle. For a new place the service has been up to par on every visit. Prices are fair especially compared to the boys from VT. I've had a good experience on each visit and I'll continue to go back. Have to say that most of the other reviews on this place as of this date pretty bogus and are the type that give consumer review sites a bad name. If you are ordering flavored soft serve you KNOW what you are getting, so don't be a tool and give a new small business a two star review over it.
