Popcorn shrimp

Amazing meal! Loved the popcorn shrimp to start out and the halibut entree. The salad bar and sides with my entree were a nice touch as well.

Menu

The steaks are excellent, and the staff has always been very friendly. The steak fritters are fantastic!

Popcorn Shrimp Dinner - comes with one side and either the salad bar or soup. Huge portion of shrimp for $26!

We're from SoCal and for the past four years, every time we've passed through Thayne, we have visited Dad's Bar & Steakhouse. We have been to pretty much every restaurant between here & Afton, and it is, without a doubt, the best restaurant with the best food--no competition. Period. The staff are always friendly and very helpful; the salad bar is incredibly fresh (and very clean); the portions are massive considering the price, and the steaks are phenomenal. Always cooked perfectly and super delicious. You can choose to eat in the "steakhouse" which is a smaller room with several tables and the salad bar, or you can choose to eat in the bar area which is a bigger room with more tables, a bar (obviously), and a stage for live music. We've dined in both areas. The live music is always really great. We really enjoy Dad's and will continue to visit when stopping through.

A great restaurant for local eats, especially for meat and seafood lovers. A must order for this place will always be the Prime rib. They have hefty servings so make sure to come with an empty stomach. One thing to try that ISINT listed on their menu is the Cake!! One of the best slices of cake I've ever had was from Dads Bar! They make it in house and it is amazing, I had the pistachio coconut cake and it was mouth watering amazing. A perfect finish to my amazing meal, just wish they had it listed on the menu so I could save room for dessert! Service was a bit slow, but they seemed to be short/understaffed at the moment. Regardless, the staff were very kind, friendly, and helpful. Cute on the inside and very homey feeling. 10/10 spot to stop!

The folks working here were very nice and checked back. The food tasted alright. Pretty standard bar food it wasn't amazing but it was about what you would expect in a bar in small town. I would go back but it wouldn't become my regular place to eat.

Prime rib, garlic mashed potatoes, brown sugar carrots and garlic toast. Mmmm

This place is a local icon. Been here for forever. In my 50 years of eating here, we've only had a bad meal once. The prime rib is what they are known for, but it's all pretty damn good. It's been remodeled in the past few years, so it's clean and brighter than it was. Service is always on point and drinks are strong. It's our go to when company is in town.

It was so tasty just to good to share!

Atmosphere is dark and very smoky. It's hard to eat mediocre food when everyone around you is smoking. Would not suggest.

I just had the worst meal I've had in a long time tonight. I went to Colter's because it was a…read moresteakhouse and I wanted a steak. So I ordered an old-fashioned for a cocktail and it came in a water glass with ice filled to the top, I had to take the ice out of the glass in order to drink it. It was not good. Then I ordered the T-bone steak with the baked potato and the only side veggie available, which was steamed vegetables. The steak was $30. When our plates arrived at the table we could see the steaks were pretty pathetic, really thin, and mine was definitely not a Tbone. I had ordered mine, medium rare and it was well done but more than that, it was so gristly I couldn't even eat it. The baked potato was good, but the vegetables were so full of garlic and so soft and mushy yuck. I would never refer this restaurant to someone who wanted a good steak dinner. I felt bad for our waiter because not only was he the only waiter there, he was the cashier and was also checking people into the hotel .

The new executive chef has really transformed this steakhouse. Went in on a Friday night to give…read morethe new chef a look see. Initial order took a bit of time, but after that OK. Had to get the prime rib special, not disappointed. My meal flew out of the kitchen before I could get half way through the salad. And I like my food HOT and this was much appreciated. Portions were unreal. I think the prime rib was on the menu at 14oz, but I'm pretty sure mine was 16-18oz. Veggie side was huge as was the baker and enough to feed two people. Good people and Outstanding Cuisine.

Plenty early enough for us to still get on the road early for a leisurely drive through the Grand Teton in the morning. Our room was nice. Since we are elderly and our room was on the second floor (no elevator) , it was very convenient to have a room close to the stairs. We were amazed that there were no USB ports at all in our room. Who doesn't provide USB ports? The front desk staff were very helpful in providing information on nearby businesses where we could buy USB charging ports for our iPhone charging cables and our portable batteries. We enjoyed all the other amenities in our room. We loved the facilities themselves. The restaurant was outstanding! We were greeted enthusiastically as soon as we crossed the threshold. Our server, Jamie, was superb in every way--her demeanor, her knowledge of the food items, her interest in the fact that this is our "Birthday Road Trip" and her quality service. We are so glad Jamie raved about the Huckleberry lemonade and encouraged us to try it. That lemonade was delicious! The food was outstanding ! The portions were so large, as much as we hated to, we couldn't finish those huge steaks or all of the corn appetizer. The garlic mashed potatoes and garlic beans were delicious. What was especially beautiful about the beans is that they were cooked just right. Jamie served us bread with what she explained is their signature whipped mascarpone cream with honey . It was so very good. We loved being in the restaurant and lingered after our dinner. We loved the ambiance, the service (Jamie helped us celebrate our birthdays), the music playing in the background, the room temperature and the fire burning in the fireplace. It was a wonderful dining experience and we hated to have it end. Looking forward to breakfast in the morning.

It's a small thing but it sets the tempo to offer some bread. The service at Gun Barrel moves on the slower side. Food took 30 minutes to reach the table after ordering. I'd say that's a bit tardy for a steakhouse. The decor is exactly what you'd expect and it does a good job of feeling like a hunting club cabin. Wish they'd put a fire in the fireplace though, if it is an actual functioning fireplace. I ordered the ribeye. The steak had good crust, flavor, and seasoning. It was pretty damn tough. I had to revisit the menu and yep these were choice cut steaks. Kind of pricey for choice meat at that. Even the cap of the ribeye was needing to be chewed on repeatedly in order to swallow it. It was tough even by choice standards. It was a shame because the chef knew what he was doing. The temp was right, it was seasoned well, beautiful crust... just a crap steak he had to work with. A quick word on my side of mashed potatoes. They were okay but you get a pathetic amount, maybe about a cup worth. Just another thing that makes this place feel cheap. My date ordered the salmon. It tasted fishy and had no seasoning on it at all. Like zero salt or pepper. The fishy taste was notable, like it was starting to spoil but they cooked it up anyway instead of throwing it out. I would avoid this place.

The vibe here is super cute and full of character -- I took so many pictures because the decor alone makes this place worth stopping by. We came in with a pretty large group of about 20 Baddies, and even with the crowd, the staff was quick and friendly. Some of our group stayed here while others headed out to eat, but this was the perfect little spot to relax, people watch, and hang out with the locals. They've got pool tables, bar seating on both sides, and round tables if you just want to sit, chat, and enjoy your drinks. Definitely a fun stop while visiting the area! And don't forget to stop by the steakhouse downstairs, unfortunately it wasn't open when we got there but hopefully on our next trip as it opens at 4a d after hiking and up since 2am we didn't wanna wait, but you should!
