If I could give them a negative review I would. First we went there with a reservation and it took forever to get in. They were sold out of almost everything. The food was good so I can't complain. The steak was a nice size. The waitress was rude. They gave me the check and everything looked okay and I signed. I live in Pennsylvania so it's a decent drive. I looked at my bank account and noticed they charged me for two different amounts it came to almost 250$! I called them and they said they didn't charge me enough. One you didn't have my permission to charge me again and two the check was perfectly fine. That's called fraud. They told me I could come back and look at the receipt. I was already over and hour way from there. I told them I would be talking to my bank and they told me go ahead. I got all my money back that they second charged me luckily. read more

Had Dinner tonight wife and I both had prime rib I ordered mine rare and it came out perfectly done and my wife ordered hers medium rare also come perfect. Baked potato and salad bar, candy carrots. We have gone to Dad's before their renovation.. sadly disappointed! Music from bar area starts at 7 pm and is so loud thru the wall made it difficult to have a conversation. Sad to say steaks don't have the same taste. The Meat has a strong flavor like feed lot beef. Couldn't finish my filet minion, tasted like liver.. thought since they renovated menu might also be renovated but same menu. Quality of meat not up to par. OMGOODNESS!!! My parents and I are in Thayne WY for a family reunion. I always use YELP in decided where I go to eat no matter where I go; YELP steered me right yet again. We started off with the Artichoke parmesan dip and it was homemade for sure; from the dip to the chips. I shared a small 12 oz prime rib with my mom and they gave us two plates, both with all the fixing and garlic toast. All I had to do is cut the bake potato and prime rib to put on my moms plate.... ONE OF THE BEST PRIME RIBS I HAVE EVER HAD. My dad also had the prime rib, but he added grilled onions for $3.00 more. They have a full service bar and the waitresses are attentive and very friendly. Please make a reservation and if you are planning on the prime rib let them know as you make the reservation; something we did not know, but it worked out.... they had enough prepared. read more

The food is great. We try to stop at Dad's whenever we are in town visiting our children. This is about once a year unfortunately since we are from California. I wasn't visiting Star Valley, merely driving through. This was a quick pit stop. Smokey bar. Old town type feel. The patrons here are exactly what you would expect. Old friends all very familiar with one another, joking around with the bartender, staring at the out of towners (me) that walk through the door. There's an entire dining room/steakhouse, it isn't just a bar, but we stopped by in the middle of the day, so it wasn't open, but the bartender was taking reservations for that night, which makes me feel like this place gets packed. This is an awesome small town bar/restaurant. I love stopping in at places like this because it's totally foreign to what I'm used to. I love it as much as I love cocaine and infidelity. read more

This is a place my husband and I frequent when we visit my mom in Etna. Small, consistant menu, cozy dining area with an open kitchen. Always friendly service and a yummy salad bar. I know a lot of the time you have to call ahead of time to reserve yourself some prime rib on the busy nights. (I think it's the prime rib anyway, but could be a cut of steak that's popular) Haven't tried the bar at all, but the restaurant is a good place to stop if you're passing through. read more

This place is amazing. The best prime rib I've ever had. You can tell the cow had just quit mooing not too long prior to when I got there. The service was awesome, and even though they were busy they seemed to take care of us pretty well. Everything there seemed local, but in Thayne you really don't have too many other options. It was really cool to see how they fit the kitchen, salad bar, and dining room into the back of the building into such a small space. Even though it was small it totally worked. Didn't feel cramped at all, but if anything kind of nostalgic the way it is set up. I'm hoping to try their burgers next. Can't wait! read more

Just had a great dinner there tonight. They fit me in without reservations, but I would suggest calling in advance because they fill up quick. The prime rib melted in my mouth. Served with delicious sweet carrots and fresh sauteed mushrooms. The service was excellent, the ladies who work there are top notch. For those who like a cocktail, a full bar is available. Best steak place in the entire valley! I love eating there! My husband usually takes me on dates there. The waitresses are so nice and always so accommodating and to my 3 year old. They always give her some coloring books and crayons so she can keep herself entertained. You do need to make reservation on special occasions. The food is phenemomal, the drinks are perfect, and the staff and owner go out of their way to make sure everyone feels welcome and are well attended to. We spent three nights here. Yum! Can't stop thinking about our meal here! Servers were nice and attentive. We didn't have to wait long for our food. Salad bar was nice and fresh. We had reservations which we highly recommend. We had also reserved a prime rib which is probably a must if you want one. We also ordered the filet and that was very tasty. Both entrees were so tasty on their own. This little place is a gem. I was in town for a half marathon and one of the volunteers recommended Dad's. They were all booked up with reservations, but went out of their way to get us a table out by the bar. My wife and I had the prime rib and my son had the salmon. Everything was delicious and service was great. This is an old school local bar with a little restaurant in the back so it fills up quick-- and according to the locals you need to get there before they run out of prime rib. A fairly limited menu, so if you are looking for something fancy this is not it. But boy was it good! read more

This is the best steakhouse I've been to! The place is warm and friendly and the staff are very nice. They have decent prices and all the locals come here. Their prime rib is great, and you have to call ahead to reserve it. I also love the bacon wrapped scallops and their salad bar is THE BEST. In Afton from Salt Lake City on business, we drove to Thayne in search of a good meal, and found it! You can enter through the bar or around the back, which brings you in at the kitchen/salad bar. We were quickly acknowledged and seated. I asked for the salmon medium rare, and was delighted to find it cooked to perfection, moist and flakey.
