I had planned to check Dad's BBQ out for a while and after an appointment nearby, chose to visit. I walked in intending on getting an order to go. The welcomer asked me if I was dining in and I answered that I was ordering to go. She had me stand near a desk and I did not have any more interactions with the employees the rest of the ten minutes or so that I waited. There were more employees than customers, yet I still did not get service. So, I left. I don't often rate establishments, but this was a great disappointment. If you do not want to sell food to customers, then you should just shut down. You all suck! read more

They got rid of the dark chicken completely. So you need extra barbecue sauce, with their dry white chicken. So I specifically added for extra barbecue sauce-- the woman working the drive through repeated it back to me when I ordered. And repeated it when she told me what my order was. She repeated it when she gave me the food. There was one small styrofoam to go ramekin half full of sauce for 2 dry chicken breasts. They have dropped the fried green tomatoes off the menu as well. And the 2 tiny cheddar muffins were underdone. Dads has been going downhill for a while now, but they just don't care anymore. Will never eat here again. I went there at 1030 AM, it is currently 1505, I spent my whole shower thinking about my experience at this shit show. The only redeeming qualities of this place were the staff, the fact that drinks were served in to-go cups, and their cornbread muffins. The menu I was given was out-dated, so when I went to order my $12.50! BBQ sandwich and ONE side, I was told I could no longer get fried green tomatoes. pardon? this is Alabama, who in their right mind takes fried green tomatoes off the menu in the south? No one in their right mind, that is who. The waitress said she was told, "customers could get over it." my next complaint, why in the sweet baby Jesus of Nazareth was I served on a STYROFOAM plate? Baby! If I wanted to eat off styrofoam/paper I would've drove home! don't waste your money at this establishment. ive gotten better BBQ sandwiches by buying a pound at the local Pak-A-Sak and making them myself. I will not be returning to either location. The fries were okay, but Ken's ranch? Big pass. Homemade is where it's at, but obviously that's too much work for "Dad" and his crew. Having grown up in Anniston, I've been a fan of Dad's since I was in middle/high school. Of all the years I've gone there, I always do takeout/drive through and rarely dine in. While I've ordered quite a few of their food items, I almost always stick with my go-to - the fried chicken finger salad. The salad always has fresh ingredients, comes with a generous amount of chicken, and is very filling. I also love their skin-on French fries. No matter what I order, I almost always add on a side of fries. The service is consistently good, the restaurant is always clean...they even recently built an entirely new building that's much more modern than the old one. Though Dad's has two locations, this one is my favorite. Whenever I come back home to Anniston, I try to stop at Dad's and get my beloved chicken finger salad. This place is a staple! read more

Service was great and the inside ambiance was updated and nice. The food, however, was not that great. BBQ pork sandwich was barely warm and very dry. There wasn't a lot of meat and even less sauce. Onion rings and fries were ok. Hamburger was, again, barely warm and the meat was dry. Quite disappointing since I've eaten here before, although it has been awhile, and the quality has drastically changed for the worse when it comes to the food. I used to go to Dad's BBQ for lunch all the time and the food was great and so was the service but due to my job change I don't get to have lunch there anymore so my family and I try to have dinner there but the past few times we've been the restaurant is filthy and it's not even busy. The food is terrible and service not so great. The girls are friendly but rarely check on us. Just a few weeks ago we had dinner there and my husband needed extra sauce and I was almost finished with my plate before he decided to go find our server and she was sitting at a booth on her phone. If I could give this place MINUS stars I would !! I just got a horrible hamburger in which was way over priced. If the burger had been a good hamburger it would have been ok to pay the 5.25 for a nice sandwich. What I received however was awful. First off it was cold, the meat and bun had been sitting for a while. After trying to eat this burger before leaving the parking lot, I decided to take it home and warm it up to eat it. When I got home and started to deconstruct the burger to warm it, I noticed what was on the inside. Obviously a tomato that looks like it was sliced and left over from a day or two ago, the lettuce( I guess it's lettuce) is chopped and has the texture of cabbage, there is only ketchup as a condiment on the burger, and no other condiments other than ketchup in the bag. I asked for a burger with everything. This was a horrible mess, I had to warm this sandwich up, throw away the old tomato and add lettuce, and mustard. All of this after paying 5.25 for this burger. I really hate having to write this review on a once wonderful place to eat. I have been disappointed, but this last time was a bit much. We live north of Jacksonville. I had preordered my order by phone from Oxford so it would be ready as I drove through. Half of my order was not there and there was no barbeque sauce at all on or beside my meat. Of course this was not ordered until I arrived home. When I called the McClellan Dad's restaurant back and asked to speak quite diplomatically to the manager, that particular person replied they were the manager. When I asked for assistance, this person was extremely unruly and difficult to correspond with further. their name was simply given as Bobbi Jo. This is the first time I have ever left a review on any product or service...ever. I am not much of a foodie, and I travel, so I eat a lot of McD's. So you can take my opinion with a grain of salt... I used to work in Anniston every few months and I ate at Dads several times. It was pretty good, and out of nostalgia, I decided to go back. But it wasn't real good. The shredded pork was not bad, but the portion was small. Close to child sized. I weigh in at 152 lbs. and was not full when I left. I imagine for a big guy, this was more of an appetizer. It was served on a small sized paper plate. Un-cool. The fried green tomatoes were good, if a bit too greasy. But there was no room on the small plate to flop them over and cut them into bite sized pieces. Which was okay, since there was no knife. Utensils consisted of a plastic fork. And not the good kind of plastic fork. It was a kid's middle school plastic fork. One step up from a spork. The potato salad was crappy. Pretty much just potato and too much mayo. Not nearly as good as your usual grocery store stuff. And my ex-wife's potato salad would just embarrass it. Don't bother with Dads BBQ. read more

The facility is really nice and from what I understand it was remodeled. Looks good. Now. The food. For one: they were out of several things. Only one kind of bbq sauce that you have to ask for, and everything comes out in styrofoam. To include your drinks and your side of bbq sauce! I ordered a side of fries and it came out on the smallest of styrofoam plates- no basket of fries? Canned green beans. Okra didn't look great and was told by my crew they didn't taste good either. This road side stop filled our bellies and kept us dry from the pouring rain. Tangy bbq sauce, generous portions and the most courteous, helpful waitress. If you're in Anniston wanting to go to a BBQ restaurant, I would definitely recommend coming here before going to Betty's. The first time I came here, I ordered the Chicken & Dressing Plate. This comes with two sides, cranberry sauce, and your choice of Cornbread or Texas toast. I chose Texas toast and got the Macaroni & Cheese and Fried Okra as my sides. My second time here, I ordered the Chopped BBQ Chicken plate with cornbread and Macaroni & Cheese and Collard Greens as my sides. I really liked the collard greens, they had a great flavor. The macaroni & cheese reminds me of cafeteria food, though. The fried okra and cornbread were both good. Both the Chicken & Dressing and Chopped BBQ Chicken were not bad, but not great either. I have never eaten inside either of the Dad's BBQ locations, I've only ordered from the drive-thru. They get your food to you pretty fast. They have a big menu and lots of sides to choose from. Looked like a nice restaurant from the outside so I thought i'd give it a try. Bad mistake. Out of chicken so I tried a pork sandwich combo with baked beans and mac n cheeze. "food" was served on a school lunch tray ...portions for a 1st grader?....No problem, I couldn't eat it anyway...beans were a slurry of something with only a couple of beans...mac n cheeze was brown and cold...i tried a little of the pork because i was starving....the sauce is katsup with a little spice in it...terrible. We went to dinner here one night, on the opening night of college football 2018. The restaurant is brand new, and the decor is great. But when we went there, they already ran out of BBQ ribs for the day. I mean, the day was the opening of college football, you would think they would cook more ribs for the day. I got a BBQ plate, and the pork tasted great. The Texas toast was not that great, and the mac and cheese was okay. The last time I went there, 4 or 5 years ago, I didn't think it to be worth revisiting but, had a lunch date at Top of the River for 1:00 pm and arrived to find they weren't open until 3:00. Started looking for a place to meet and decided on DAd's and was very glad I did. Ribs were great. Baked beans were great. Mac and cheese was great. Cheddar bread was ok. Asked for half and half tea...must have gotten sweet tea with extra sugar. Waitress brought me another glass of unsweetened so I mixed my own. Pretty good. Stopped by for Sunday lunch. This was my first time here as I hears nothing but good things about this place. I ordered the half rack of ribs with cornbread and two sides of Okra. Ribs came out very nice and plenty of meat on each rib. Cornbread was a little dry but tasty. Fries Okra was a little over cooked. All in all it was good BBQ. As for the bathroom... Well... Stumbled on this place after learning that Top O The River wasn't open for lunch. I'm not familiar with Anniston at all. Hubs and I were starving so decided to try out Dad's. We shared the ribs and they were melt in your mouth delicious, falling right off the bone into our mouths. We also had fried okra and baked beans, both of which were very good.
