I know why people eat here. There is no other choice. Positives: Service is great. I think every server there, six or seven of them, checked on us at least 3 times. Large ribeye was tender and cooked to order. Nice value for choice meat, $33 Value: two meals with drinks were $75 with tip Negatives: Time. Took over a hour to get food. Salad hot plate and salad was warm and full of bitter produce. No dressing could save it, premade dressing anyway. Service is slow, got a side salad with me meal, and wanted some crackers tried to stop waitress and she walked by me so fast and didn't stop like I was a homeless man peddling for money. Never got crackers. Inside is basic kinda dark. Arrived about 5:50pm looked over menu and ordered by 6pm, got food about 6:45pm. We were a party of 2 adults and a child. These is not a please to eat if you have kids due to long wait time, and to be honest I almost order food to be door dash here so we could eat before our food got cooked here. read more

Southern-style cuisine here. Grilled steak, fried chicken, fish, and shrimp. I had the ribeye, and my lady had the chef salad. Both dishes were deliciously prepared. The service was spectacular. Our hostess quickly sat us, and service began immediately with drinks. The steak arrived sizzling. The ambiance is hometown crowd and families socializing and eating comfort food. It's not too loud but not super quiet. There were lots of smiles and bunches of laughter, just having a good time. All are welcome; it is a mixed crowd, suitable for young and old, no matter where you're from. You're greeted immediately with beautiful smiles. PROS: Attentive service, welcoming, location, and great Southern food. CONS: Not pretty to look at; needs a remodel. Don't expect speedy service. My husband is a son of the South, and whenever we go to visit his family in Alabama he insists that they take him to get some good catfish... this time we went to Stampede Steakhouse. He was not disappointed... He said the fish was well cooked and flavorful. He enjoyed the coleslaw and fries... the hushpuppies were a little grainy, but otherwise pretty good. I ordered the steak sandwich. It was a nice sized steak; tender and cooked exactly as asked for. I loved the fluffy steak toast, but otherwise the sandwich was crying out for something else... I did put mayonnaise on it, but I longed for something crisp like lettuce or tomato... maybe some mushrooms..? The steak was juicy and the sandwich was already falling apart so maybe that's a good reason to not have anything else on it... I enjoyed it, nonetheless... My hubby's cousin ordered the grilled filet which is her usual, and she stated it was exactly as she likes it... Since we travel often to Talladega, I have no doubts we'll be back... maybe I'll order a formal steak next time... or some of the other yummy things I saw on the menu... read more

Stopped in at lunch,as a business owner myself,I can honestly say this was an awful experience!! In 100 degree weather there was no air people were getting up and walking out!We had heard it was a higher standered place to dine but at this point I would hate to see the ones who praised this establishment..I will be making a formal complaint with the health inspector.I and some of the other patrons got to discuss the sweat the staff was dripping into our meals. When a business can't afford to keep ac for the diners it's a very digusting thought. I do not recommend this establishment at all. read more

We come here a couple of times a month. Talladega has very few decent restaurants to choose from. The sides are nothing to write home about, but we do enjoy the catfish nuggets, pork chops, and their Parmesan crusted chicken. Staff is friendly. read more

Stampede steak house has great food. I enjoy their food very much but they cannot cook hamburger meat. On Thursdays they have hamburger steak, I was going in there Thursdays to get it and I stopped going it is always burnt. I would always tell them I do not want it burnt. This was to no avail bc it still was burnt everytime. When it's overcooked it is extremely dry bc all the juices are gone. Nothing I said ever mattered so I quit going. I tried to tell the owners but I couldn't find them there ever. All she had to do was turn it down it was cooked too hot and too long. read more

Talladega seriously lacks in decent restaurants and this is no exception. I tried the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and turnip greens. Flavors were pretty much hospital cafeteria quality. The cornbread was in its own ward though, so dense and hard I could even eat it with a fork. But to top it off I was seriously aggravated by what I feel was a very misleading action on the part of the wait staff. We had a large group and rather than giving us our individual tickets they were placed at the register. So as we waited in line to pay we'd tell the cashier what it was we had and she'd pull out the ticket. When she told me my total I thought it was a bit high and I asked her a drink had been added to my ticket since I had water. I motioned as if I wanted to see the ticket. She glanced at it, told me no it had water on it, shoved it to the other side of the register against the wall where I couldn't see it and then shot me a dirty, impatient look. I conceded and thought maybe I thought the wrong price for the meat and two lunch special, signed the register receipt with added tip and left to return to my meeting. But as I drove back home to Birmingham I realized why the price was higher...they had added gratuity to the ticket..which I totally understand is common practice with large groups but the fact that they didn't let us see our tickets and we all ended up blindly adding double gratuity was not right. I spoke with my other coworkers and none of us had the chance to actually see our tickets and all ended up adding extra gratuity. For the crappy lunch I received that was neither satisfying in taste or substance in a nasty restaurant with greasy tables and gross carpet that makes your feet stick to the floor...I'll say that I will not be patronizing again or recommending to anyone. I actually left and said to my passenger...we would have had a better experience at Burger King. read more

Not a lot of dining options in Talladega, and if I weren't with locals, I'd never have ventured into an old PizzaHut building with a Steakhouse sign on the roof. We visited for lunch, and I ordered a porkchop with collards, mac and cheese, and corn bread. It also came with some banana pudding. I thought the food was good and reasonably priced. Not everyone at the table ordered from the meat and three lunch menu; those dishes took quite a bit longer to prepare. I guess not a lot of people go there for a hamburger or chicken wings for lunch. So if you are in a hurry, just order from the lunch menu. read more

Holy cow the ribeye steak is delicious. I ordered steak and shrimp, but wish I just ordered steak. And, I love the old Pizza Hut "hut" buildings, which this clearly is. Atmosphere is cozy, and Pizza Hut of today has lost that atmosphere that it had in the 80s. Wait staff is very friendly and helpful. If you are ever in Talladega Alabama and are looking for a good steakhouse. This is the place to be. Kayla and her husband Brandon the owners have a wonderful staff and service is great. They have a great menu selection and you definitely have to try the Cowboy Poppers as an appetizer. You will have to ignore my post from July of 2017. Apparently they were going through some staff changes and different food distributors. But all that has changed now and you definitely need to put this place on your next meal excursion through Talladega. read more

We entered the restaurant and was greeted by employees operating a loud vacuum cleaner while patrons were eating their lunch. There was a sign the stated "Wait to be seated" but we were told to seat ourselves, which was perfectly ok with me. The server immediately greeted us with and smile on her face and presented us with menus and took our drink orders. The menu is very extensive and a little overwhelming as it covers 4 pages that is full off food options. I went with the daily special which was the grilled chicken fingers or pork chops, I chose the chicken along with 2 sides, mashed potatoes and gravy and fried okra. My daughter got the Doug's Hamburger Steak which was not visual appealing but tasted amazing! My chicken fingers were a bit on the small side, the potatoes could've used seasoning, and then there was the okra! The okra was the star of my meal! It was cooked to crunchy perfection. Our server returned to our table several times to check on us and refill drinks if needed. I will definitely be back as it's the only restaurant in town aside from fast food and Mexican. Context is everything here. This is a good restaurant where you can get a decent meal at a decent price. It's a place I could eat at every night and it'd be like having dinner at home. Personally, I don't think of it as a steakhouse but a family restaurant. The menu is varied and it's not hard to find something good. The food is unpretentious, basic in preparation and, frankly, spot on. I had a steak and my wife had the Monterrey chicken. Everything was what it should have been and we really enjoyed a good meal in a friendly atmosphere . The service was great and the individuals were better. I've travelled the world and a lot. I recommend the shrimp and some of their country style sides, but would not consider this a place for steaks unless its chicken fried steak. My husband and have eaten here on several occasions. My favorite is their country fried steak. It is breaded and not over fried. Lunch is very busy so it helps to get there around opening at 11. The only complaints are the sides are not kept warm and the cornbread is cold and heavy. read more
