I hired this handyman for an urgent toilet repair, but the experience was disappointing. He initially quoted a quick and straightforward fix, but after removing the toilet, he claimed I had to replace the floor, drain pipe, toilet. I stopped the work, but he charged me for 6 hours, including time spent at Home Depot and trying to resolve the issue unsuccessfully. He hid the old toilet in the backyard which I had to pay someone to dispose of and he tried to charge me for incidentals like a box latex gloves, a bucket and all the material that he purchased from Home Depot but took home with him. Despite paying him, he hasn't provided a receipt and won't respond to calls or texts. I later hired someone else who fixed the problem without gutting the bathroom. Unprofessional, overpriced, and unresponsive--would not recommend based on my experience. read more

We reached out to him about fixing our dryer exhaust hole in the garage drywall and he came by after we asked for a consult and left with the project finished. We we're satisfied enough where he was back a few hours later to install some updated faucets for our washer and dryer as well. Edit: The toilet valve and flapper he replaced broke and toilet started leaking again within 9 months. I'll give him negative stars if possible. Even his plumbing skills are poor. BTW, he even takes racist conversations to negotiate higher pay. Don't entertain him, if you still choose to use his service. On a recent semi-windy day one of the anchors almost ripped out of the stucco wall, 3/4 of the screws don't have any grip and are just hanging there, and it's barely attached to the wall by one screw. So thanks, now I have to patch the bad install, re-install the anchor, and re-mount the shade. I agree with a previous reviewer saying "....Questionable integrity and work ethic. A chronic liar. It's a stretch to call him a handyman." I hired him to install laundry sliding doors, tighten a loose toilet, replace a broken door, replace two bathroom light fixtures, replace bathroom air vent grills, patch up a dry wall, and touch up some wall paint. When he was finished, the sliding doors would not open without hitting the side wall. He tightened the toilet but refused to caulk the floor base. He repaired the door (instead for replacing it) leaving a visible scar on the door. Replaced the light fixtures but did not paint the wall showing the old paint.. One air vent grill was overlooked. The dry wall patch was dented. He didn't do a single thing correctly. Not a single one. Oh, and he charged me $50 to go to home depot to buy supplies. He bought some tools for the job that he should already have had, billed me for them, and took the tools with him when he finished. He even took away the paint I had paid for... the paint for my house.... who does that? I hired BJ for a home project involving framing a room, repairing a deck, moving a fence, installing ceiling lighting in the kitchen, building a microwave cabinet, installing 2 sliding doors and pouring a hot tub pad. Half the work wasn't done correctly, the sliding doors weren't leveled, he had to cut the frames for the doors to work. I bought $5000 in sliding doors for him to damage them because the labors he hired are unqualified to do the work. They break the old doors without anything to catch the glass, I had since pulled glass out of my foot several times including one piece that got infected and nearly required stitches. The old materials were left at my house, it's been 3 months some of it is still here. BJ shows up late everyday, his crew ( people he picked up at home depot) is usually waiting for him for a minimum of an hour before he shows up. BJ did a wonderful job with my kitchen wall. The previous owners had installed a refrigerator that was too big for the space. In order to remove it and replace it with a new refrigerator, the appliance delivery team had to pry off the baseboard from the wall and saw off half of the window sill. I contacted BJ and he arrived the next day, on Christmas Eve, to repair the wall. He worked quickly and efficiently and wore a mask the entire time. He also cleaned up after himself and was very polite and communicative. He also took the time to match the new baseboard to the rest of the baseboard in the condo and got the matching paint too. And he left the remaining wall and baseboard paint with me in case I needed to do any touch ups in the future. I have a neighbor who's a retired contractor and he came by once the job was completed and said BJ did an excellent job. He started his sell pitch on water softening that caused $800 to help the angle shut off valve from water damage. He replaced one not correctly installed, and the second one he intentionally damaged the line to make the water leaking all over, so he asked me to go outside to shut off the main water line. I think he could have a moment by himself inside my house. When I refused to go, he went down to shut off the main water line, but he made his way very quick upstairs to lose me. He asked me to go down to turn on and off the water main line a few times because he intentionally to make water leaking all over. He said he had to replace the angle valve. I was not very comfortable with his behavior and his sloppy works, so I asked him to stop his works and I asked him to leave. He said he just wanted to help. I told him that I was not comfortable with his works. He made more damage to the water line than before he started. The situation progressed worst. I ended up report the incident to the local police so, he would not do his tricks on our neighborhood residents anymore. He took off before the report to local police was over. I was 8 months pregnant at the time he was working for us, so NO there were absolutely no advances to make, so I think you must've mistaken my kindness for something else. I was not rushing you, in fact, I was regarding the pace of your work and simply recognized that you were not going to be able to complete the job by the time you had quoted me. Also, my dog is old with failing hip joints so getting her to move was difficult and being 8 months pregnant more difficult. I couldn't allow you to continue the job I hired you for simply because you clearly did not know what you were doing AND you demanded more money because of your slow pace. What you were paid was what we agreed to, and since the job was never finished nothing else was due. All of it doesn't add up even to a satisfactory experience. I hired BJ to replace a rotted out area at the bottom of the vertical doorstop on the rear, exterior door to my house and to find and fix a leak at the top of my door which was the cause of the rotted out wood. When he came, he did a thorough examination of the situation. We looked at the rotted out area and then he looked for the source of the leak. He found it, showed it to me and explained what he was going to do to make all repairs. I asked a lot of questions and he answered them all without making me feel stupid or that he was in any way irritated by them. He quoted me a very reasonable price and I hired him. He started working right away. After working for a while, he asked me to come over. He showed me that the situation was very different than what we both first thought it was. At that point, he could have easily told me that I needed to have him do a much larger repair job to fix it and, obviously, could have charged me a lot more for the repair. But he explained to me a way to make the repair without having to do all the extra work, which would allow him to keep to the original estimated cost. BJ saved me a lot of money! When finished, he showed me his work and asked me to look it over to make sure it was done to my satisfaction. I did find one small item that I asked him to take care of, which he did without question. A lot of companies and service people talk about exceeding their customers' expectations. I also offered for him to come over to see the job the day before. He told me he had done enough of these jobs that he did not have to see it. Then when he showed up the next day while I was at work, my adult son let him in to start to working on the ceiling. He saw that the ceiling is a double layer 5/8" drywall and he decided he needed a helper and another $150. He also left the house without letting anyone know.
