The hubby and I live close by and have used their services many times over the years. Every time we go, we get superior service with a smile and the cost is $25 for testing a 95 Hyundai and an 09 Cube (separately). Very reasonable! This place is listed for other things, but I think this place is only for emissions test. I'm a new resident to Georgia, so I needed an emissions test. There was no line, I got the test done in five minutes, and it cost $20. He accepts cash or card. He also gives a hardcopy of the emissions test result in case you need it (which is also good to check on your end to make sure the VIN matches). LOVE, LOVE Gary. When I went to get my emissions here, my new (to me) truck, purchased from the dealership COULDN'T PASS EMISSIONS because of a burnt out fuse for the cigarette lighter (I didn't notice because I don't smoke). Gary offered to fix it for me for free since there wasn't anyone else in line -- when people started to line up behind me, he asked his mechanic to do it. Worked like a charm! What a GREAT guy -- can't say enough great things about him. And, he is open until 6 p.m. M-F, and only charges $20. This is my emissions guy forever. read more

Not a very pleasant experience with the employee working here. Could be the owner, I don't know? The sign says "Fast Friendly Service", well it was fast, but it was far from friendly. I am sure working at an emissions inspection place is probably a dream job for few, so I get that you might not be in the best mood. I'm not asking for cheery, just polite and respectful or even just not-rude and unpleasant. "Please" and "thank you" are good starters when someone brings you business. It said "all cars welcome" however the employee did not seem to know where the engine was in my car or how to access it, and so he had to ask me for help. I've never had an emissions place have to ask me for help in doing their job before. When he was done with the inspection he whistled at me to get my attention, like I was a dog. He then said "twenty" indicating I owed him 20 dollars for the emission inspection. Not twenty dollars please, or it will be twenty dollars, just twenty. What can I say? If you don't want my business there are a dozen other places I could go, but if you are going to take my money, then it might be a good idea to be polite and courteous. If you can't be polite and courteous then you can expect a negative review on yelp so others simply know what to expect. I don't typically write negative reviews. They get two stars instead of one because they did do what I paid them for. While I can't say I was expecting much in the way of 'customer service' from an emission inspections place, Dad's Emissions employee made enough of a negative impression on me that I felt it noteworthy and worth sharing so others know what to expect. I, like most, only get an emissions inspections once a year, so I rely on reviews to decide where to go. If you don't care about being treated respectfully, then go for it. It was a cheap, quick emissions inspection, no line. However, perhaps there is a reason there was no line? If you want to be sure to be treated like a paying customer, or maybe even just like a person and not a dog, I recommend going someplace else. As always YMMV. read more

There are MANY places cheaper and for me, just as convenient. Off Ponce between the Farmers Market and N. Decatur you will pay $15. Friendly service! I needed a weekend spot and their machine was down temporarily but they offered a coupon for the inconvenience . The employee politely came out to my car to explain the situation rather than just locking the door or putting up a sign. I returned on a Sunday for my test and was in and out in 5 minutes. I should add that I passed 3 other stations that were all CLOSED on Saturdays. So extra kudos to Dads for weekend hours ! read more

I went to the new Dad's location at Pure Gas Station in downtown Decatur (249 Ponce de Leon) and got the same excellent customer service from "Dad" Gary and from Darren - yes, I had to go twice. When I didn't pass the first time with my 1998 Honda, they ran a diagnostic test and gave me pointers to correct the situation. I can't say enough about how helpful and courteous they are. read more

I went here the other day to get my emissions done. I got there around 8ish and did not have to wait. The emissions dude was really polite, and told me to wait a few minutes for it to be done. After a little hiccup with the credit card machine I was on my way. No problems at all in comparisons to my previous emission inspections over the years. read more

Waste of time. I waited for over 1/2 hour and then I was told that their system is down and that I've to come another day. While I was there, their computer was freezed several time and the guy kept rebooting. Initially I was told that it would take 5 minutes and after like 30 minutes they asked me to come another day. This place charge almost double then other places and still they don't want to upgrade their computer. It's a SHAME, I will never recommend this place to anyone, what a waste of time. read more

Go here. You will be glad you did. "Dad" is professional and efficient, but he adds a charming politeness that will make you feel fussed over. He has you stay in your car and the test is over in a couple of minutes. Side-benefit: he offers a service if your engine light comes on. Stop in and he will run a quick test to analyze what might be wrong BEFORE you take it to your mechanic. I have not tried it but I sure will. I called Dad's at 4:06 on a Sunday just hoping I may find somewhere open and not only did he answer but I found out they closed at 4:00 but he was willing to wait for me!! I told him I would be there in 15 minutes but got turned around and even though it took more than 30 minutes he was still there waiting. I couldn't believe it! I showed up around 830, the closed sign is up with a traffic cone blocking the entrance, no one is in sight. Tried calling back and it just continued I ring. I had the worse luck trying to find an emissions station that wasn't closed during it's "business hours", had functioning equipment or not surrounded by shady looking people. There was no wait at all at Dad's and I got to sit in the car during the quick procedure. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. Best of all is that they are open on Sundays!!
