The manager was eager to kick us out of there, asked us for ID which I showed her my wife age 40 didn't have her ID on her but I did have her passport copy and she wasn't drinking as a designated driver. manager decided that she didn't want us in the bar and asked us to leave. I am so tired of bad service. We just went in to sing a little karaoke and maybe have a drink or two my wife was not even drinking anyways I don't think I'm ever set foot inside there again. I sat down at the bar, ordered one beer. The female bartender gave me another one without asking. I politely told her "I didn't order another, I'm good." As I was waiting for friends to arrive. I see the bartender talking to one of the male employees. Male employee walks over to me and says "you've got to leave." Obviously very confused, I asked why. He said the bartender said I've got to go. I explained I had not even finished one beer and she gave me another one, that I didn't order. I have been told by the bouncer that I'm not coming in, because I walk wobbly (I have a injured knee), and therefore I must to be drunk. When I told him, that I was drinking sweet tea only and if he have a problem with that, he said he have a problem with my attitude, and therefore I'm not coming in. I asked to talk to who ever is in charge, I have been told that he's inside and since I can't come inside, I can not talk to him. I called cops, they gave me sobriety test, which I passed, but told me it is a private establishment, so they will go and talk to him, but they can not do anything else, so I left. We tried Dads Karaoke for the first time on Saturday night. Song list is great and updated. The first KJ we had was Young Animal and he was doing a fantastic job, but it happened to be his last night there after being there for 4 years and he kept everyone in line and didn't bump anyone. The KJ that came after him was Marc Rivers. He on the other hand kept bumping people left and right. He would put you ahead of other people for a price. $5 will bump you up a couple of spots, $10 for into the top 10 spot and $20 in the top 5. It would've fine if it was public knowledge but the only people that knew of this were "some" of the regulars. It wasn't fair for most of us, and ironically, we weren't the only one's complaining. Last weekend my dad & I wanted to grab a few drinks along with my friends & I instantly thought of this place. When we get there everything is going good, we order drinks and are having a good time, till we went up to the bar for round 2. The bartender (a man with facial hair and glasses) took my order and brought us drinks. Before I could do anything with the change he gave me, he hits his hand on the counter twice then points at the tipping jar and says "you stiffed me on your first round which was $60 and now your ganna do it again?... recommended tipping is 20%...just saying" and walks away. First thing first I ALWAYS tip my bartenders and he was NOT my bartender for my first round a lady was and I did tip her. Second I was already going to tip him but once he said that to me it made me extremely uncomfortable and made me feel like I OWED him - super unprofessional. My dad had his own awful encounter with the bar staff. When he went up to order a drink he paid in cash and when she came back with his drink and change my dad noticed that she gave him the wrong amount of change. He tried to get her attention but she kept ignoring him and moved to the other side of the bar. She kept a good amount of his change as a "tip" for herself. Safe to say we left asap. I use to love coming to this bar - if you were looking for a chill bar to sing karaoke this was the place and I would always recommend it but after these interactions I would only recommend this place if you want to be met with money hungry bartenders who would rather pressure you into tipping what they think they deserve or if you want to be given wrong change and have the bartender pocket the rest as their tip or if you only use a card for your transactions. I walked in a few nights back thinking nothing about this place, except that I had been in the area and had an hour to kill. As I entered, there was a couple singing 99 Luft Balloons, who doesn't love to hear that song get butchered and they were getting after it. Sunday karaoke is the best....no matter where you are! This place has karaoke 7 DAYS A WEEK! I had low expectations when I approached the bar. The parking lot was small but nearly full and the sign over the door said just "Dads" in a dingy neon light. There's a large wrap-around bar in the middle on the right. Not only is this a dark dive bar with dim lights but when you sing you stand on stage with a HUGE wall of books behind you! Were they real books? No idea, but it was kinda funny. Daily specials are uber cheap and the bartender was great...he popped out from behind the bar to wait on seated customers between orders. The KJ was hilarious and kept the flow moving pretty quickly. They have an immense song book! Tons of country music, too...I was in Texas after all. The only drawback is that I left REEKING of cigarette smoke since they allow smoking inside. read more

This place is great, if maybe just a little TOO popular. Parking is bad, really bad, there's roughly 30 spots that they share with the sushi joint next door, anything surrounding it has signs of "Towing Enforced At All Times," please please please don't blame me if there's a different experience but of the dozen or more times that I've been, I park under those signs and have been fine with my car still there and not ticketed after spending hours inside. The bathrooms are pretty wrecked,the floor in the stalls is missing most of its tiles, they never have paper towels and the soap dispenser is almost always out, but if you're not carrying Purell around in this day and age you must like germs anyway. Alright, so far I'm making this place not sound so four-star... It's a great bar! the bar is oval shaped, so theoretically there should always be a spot to squeeze in and order cheap drinks, this isn't the case on most busy weekends so have a bit of patience on those days. The singing is usually pretty fantastic, wait times can be lengthy once you sign up for a song, but that gives you plenty of time to sit back, order some cheap shots and enjoy people drunker than you belting out Mariah Carey. I love this place. I love the people who frequent this bar. I love the divey laid back atmosphere. I love the cheap drinks. I love the music (Karaoke). I love the location. My friends and I come here to unwind after a long day of whatever. I'm not interested in going to the "club". This isn't that kind of place. This is a Cheers kinda place, where you see the same faces, there for the same reason your are. Just to chill. The staff is super friendly, including the KJs Its a karaoke bar, so expect lots of different types of people singing lots of different types of music. A wide age range. I'd say mostly late 20's to middle age. They have a full bar and beer on tap. They do not have a kitchen, but allow you to bring in outside food, or, as we have done a few times, have food delivered. Its right off of 410, North central. Pretty much dead center from where all of my friends live. So the location is a perfect! Parking is always packed, but there is extra parking in the back. Over priced sugary drinks 75 cent more on each drink for a splash of Red Bull this was ridiculous because the initial drinks recipe has to have Red Bull as a ingredient so why charge extra like if was a add on, so a couple of drinks and the tab was $55.21 so we closed that tab thinking we were leaving but since my son wanted to sing and got on the list I had to wait I so I ordered a bottle Miller lite beer she brings me a beer that was frozen and started foaming obviously on purpose because she already had a problem with explaining my receipt. Anyway I didn't drink the beer or said anything just ordered a white claw she charged me $6.00 for it. I been to so many different bars and never paid $6.00 dollars for a white claw so when my son came back I ask him to order a white claw just to check is she would charge him the same, and sure enough she charge him $4.25 for the exact same white claw 5 minutes after overcharging me. This is one of the few bars in San Antonio that has karaoke as it's main form of entertainment. It's tucked away off of highway 410 at a location with little to no parking in the lot; most people park on the road or across the street. You sign up by the DJ if you want to sing karaoke, but the wait time is usually an hour. This had been the third time I have come here and the same outcome each time: bad service, no seating, terrible bathrooms, and drunk people by 11pm. The bar fills their bottles with cheaper liquor (i.e. Crown Royal/Makers Mark with Kentucky Deluxe). This last time the bartenders were taking multiple shots behind the bar, and did not charge the tab correctly. $30 for four well drinks? I'm surprised the place is still open, but it seems like the majority of people and crowd that go here have been for years. read more
