    Korean bbq meats!
    Nikki P.

Fun fact, Dae Gee means pig! Because that's what you'll do here. Pigging out and getting yo protein on. Ambiance - A chill and urban environment. Good for dates or groups. Very nice bar area when you first walk in. Service - Our waitress Mary was super friendly and helpful! I was disappointed that I had to ask someone to change the grill. Most KBBQ places will change the grill for you, so the meat doesn't burn/stick. Food - Galbi (short ribs), beef bulgogi, and pork belly were good. For sides, the cheese corn, dumplings and cucumber kim chi were good. Make sure you ask for dipping sauces for your meats (sesame oil with salt!) They're clear on not wasting food and not spending more than 2 hours eating. Overall, this place was okay. I'm glad to see more Asian spots open up in the area. But if you didn't know any better...this place is somewhat passable. Also the AYCE price is crazy bro. Prices are more expensive here than most KBBQ spots on the West Coast. PROS: Apple/Google Pay, RSVP online, THEY HAVE SOJU!!and this is all you can eat (AYCE). CONS: Prices are steep ($33/person for lunch; $45/person for dinner). Table is small so you feel crowded with the banchan (side dishes) and plates of meat.

As much as I like (East) Asian food, I also love a place which embraces its Midwestern identity rather than rejecting it in blind pursuit of some kind of "authenticity". That's why I liked Haru's corn-based ramen and Chef Otto Phan's (Kyoten - Chicago) corn-based tamagoyaki so much. Japanese people would seethe and mald over putting corn on their ramen. I'd say it went well. And hence I have to give special props to Dae Gee FW's version of corn-based cheese corn. Unlimited with your AYCE. They sure have a lot of good corn around here. Comes with that legendary Fort Wayne level of service, too! I approve. If you don't like corn for some reason (curse you), you can also opt for some pretty-mid-but-passable gyozas instead. Still, speaking of the AYCE, I have to mention its price: $45 US dollars?!!! You don't have wagyu or spider crabs in here, buddy. I get that you have monopoly power at the moment considering the sole competition is UNIQ (ugh), but that wouldn't be the case for long. And that's AFTER limiting the galbi to only one piece per person! It's a good thing "value" isn't my top priority, but it's hard to say the same for a lot of other diners. Have you seen all these 1-star reviews?! The tteok mandu guk was also pretty good, small bowl for a small price the way I liked it. It reminded me a lot of the old Seoul Garden before heartless capitalism took over and it turned into... whatever it is now at the Union Market. All these "American portions" do get tiring after some time, especially if you have to try out different foods. They also provide pineapple slices to "flavor and grease the pan", which is... an odd idea, to be honest. Some pork belly is already a much better option for both purposes, anyway. But I guess they're trying to make it their "thing". I'd say the $45 sticker price is already their "thing" enough if things keep going this way. Oh, yeah. The BBQ is good too, I guess. Kind of the same thing you'd get everywhere, if Fort Wayne had more K-BBQ. TL;DR A chain trying to be the "local K-BBQ" spot and mostly succeeding at it, albeit with high prices.

I was really excited to try this place but expectations fell short. The rice was cold and the sides that came with were just ok. Our server sat down the little sides and didn't explain what they were or if we were supposed to start eating them by themselves or what to do. The gook was a bit fatty and lacking flavor. The main course was ok too, nothing special. Based on the menu, you had the option to have it cooked for you or to cook it at the table and our server never mentioned which we would like so she brought it out already cooked. Isn't some of the fun supposed to be cooking yourself? The chocolate mousse was ok. The strawberry cheesecake was the best part of the meal. I liked it a lot but it does have basil mixed with the topping so others at the table didn't like it. The building is nice, clean and renovated since the previous owners.

We had really high hopes for this place as a KBBQ place in Fort Wayne, but unfortunately I think this dinner left a lot to be desired and the franchise has a ways to go in providing a quality experience. I've lived in Vegas and visited LA and Seoul throughout my life, so I'm very familiar with authentic Korean barbecue. I think it's a unique, fun dining experience, especially for people that might not be familiar with it, and when we visited we were happy to see a lot of customers enjoying their first time with this. I would love to see more people try KBBQ here - the restaurant itself is modern in design, and the service was friendly and prompt! But there were definitely a few key points that were missed that diminished my experience here, and it would be great to see Dae Gee improve in the future: First, the cleanliness was sadly not great at my particular table. A pair of tongs were dirty and caked with food in our utensil cup, and my water cup had a bit of caked food on the inside as well. This was unpleasant, but I do understand that with the opening of this place being so recent it may have just slipped under the chaos. The grill was changed once during our time, but it wasn't until we were already on our last portion of meat - and by then, the grill was like charcoal. I think more regular changing is important so the smoke isn't overwhelming, and the restaurant doesn't have vent hoods like in other KBBQ places to help with this. On a side note, the tongs here are very tough to use... As for the food itself, it was just okay. We got the unlimited meal, for reference. Portion sizes per order were extremely small, but the meat quality was fine (the pork belly was very thin compared to what I'm used to, but that's a minor note). I do think that the variety of dipping sauces in typical KBBQ places is important to the meal, so I was disappointed with the ones offered here (a gochujang-based one and their signature sauce). A simple sesame oil, salt, and pepper sauce is standard, and it goes a long way in breaking up the monotony of the grilled meats; so for me, having it missing was sad. The banchan was fine as well, though nothing stood out. I think the most disappointing part was not receiving the corn cheese and dumplings - part of the unlimited set - as they were out of stock. We would have liked to be warned about this before ordering the set, but we were not. And for a VERY pricey $45 per person price tag, I feel like that's something that should have been disclosed. Overall I'm happy to see Fort Wayne get more KBBQ places finally, but for the high price (higher than any all-you-can-eat KBBQ I've had) I would expect better. I hope they can make changes as time goes on and they settle into a more regular routine, because I'd love to see this place thrive in the growing food scene here.

My partner and I recently visited Dae Gee for the 2nd time and were, once again, wowed by almost the entire menu. The shrimp entree with lemon and onion was so delicious that I could write a review just on this dish. It was cooked perfectly and tasted so good. The Korean BBQ my boyfriend ordered was tasty on every level, though you do have to cook it yourself. Luckily, he's a very good cook and knows just when to remove the meat and vegetables from the heat. Our banchan was equally delicious. The fish cakes and pickled radish were my favorites, and he enjoyed the kimchi and beef bulgogi. My only complaint this time around was the honey walnut pie, which is $8. I got a dry, not very sweet slice of pie. We also could have had better service from the kitchen, which didn't have his shrimp or chicken for a while after our request. Still, we very much enjoyed our meal, and the leftovers will be amazing, too!

All the food options that come with the unlimited. Cooking the pork belly at the time.
    Kourtney S.

Service was good, they are quick to remove the extra plates and Amber was helpful. Food was pretty tasty. We did the unlimited to try all the options on the grill. They do have the grill's' temperature set too high so the meat sticks so we honestly turned ours down and it was much more manageable to cook and not burn. I will definitely go back because overall it was a good experience.

First time eating here and I am definitely coming back. Staff was very welcoming and nice and informative. Environment was amazing. Food was DELICIOUS and definitely worth the all you can eat Korean BBQ. Definitely an amazing experience and will be returning again!!

Been meaning/wanting to try for a while, but have never got around to it. Ok experience, but there's some areas of attention needed. Pros: Friendly/quick service, outstanding brisket, excellent bbq sauces (I particularly liked the vinegar and spicy sauces), and large portions. Cons: Over-priced, average at best sides, extremely smoky in dining room, and dirty/run down restaurant. Overall our experience was good, but the smoke in the dining room was a real problem that actually had my eyes burning/watering while we were eating (it literally looked like an AARP Club Catholic Church bingo event, it was that smoky inside the restaurant), the food is stupid expensive ($35 lunch, one person), and the sides just weren't good (bland coleslaw and broccoli salad). The restaurant also needs a facelift and desperate deep clean... It had that dirty, grimy, sticky feel on the floors and tables (presumably from all the smoke in the dining room). I still consider Shigs n' Pit to be the far and wide the best BBQ in town, but Lucille's has the potential to be really good if they can make some adjustments, improvements, and clean the place up.

Here is a recap of our food choices: -Wings: predominant smokey flavor, fried and dipped in one of 8 sauces. The wing was nicely cooked - no pink insides. The skin of the wing was a bit cripsier than i would prefer. The Alabama White sauce is mayo based, slightly sweet with not much seasoning or spice. It made the wings nicely moist. The teriyaki sauce is bold, thicker and has a slight back end kick to them. -Cole Slaw: nice fresh and crisp larger slaw pieces, thin mayo base, sligtly sweet but a bit watery -Macaroni salad: thin mayo base that actually came off also a little watery, elbow noodles were cooked perfectly, side veggies had a nice crunch to them, sauce was mildly sweet -Chicken tenders: moist and tender, no real Smokey taste detected, seemed to come off a little dry and tough -Corn "spoon" bread: mild corn taste, bread was moist and sweet, nice blend of corn bread and corn casserole -Tomato & Cucumber salad: very fresh and tasty. Mission can be found on west Coliseum Blvd just west of Olive Garden. It's a little tricky to find drive to get into the large parking lot. There is lots of parking as this large store which accommodates many customers. Seating for large parties together may be difficult here. As you enter you make it to the cash register where you place and pick up your order. The menu is posted on a large board above the front counter. Mission has a large selection (see picture) of different meats and sides. Most items are ala carte unless you get a combo meal. I would suggest that their prices are comparable to those at other local BBQ places. Every entree comes with freshly baked corn bread. The decent size piece is moist and has a slightly sweet flavor. The luke warm bread is more cake like than a traditional corn meal taste. A pat of pre-packaged butter is also provided. This makes a nice complement to the coming meat. Mission provides six different BBQ sauces at the table (see pictures). They also provide vinegar and a more mustard based sauce. I tried three of these sauces. All had a nice flavor for you to consider. Here is a brief description of the different food items we had: -Smoked Chicken: very moist and tender, so tender that the meat literally fell off the bones; skin was nicely coated with a mild BBQ rub - only a slight amount of salt & spicy aftertaste; nice mild Smokey flavoring -Smoked Turkey: also very moist and tender; slight Smokey flavors -French Fries: nice thinly cut fry; coated with a heavy-salty BBQ rub; nicely crispy without being oily; definite bold BBQ rub flavoring -Baked Beans: much like you would expect, moderate sized bean bathed in a smooth BBQ sauce; BBQ sauce is slightly sweet with a mild BBQ taste - no after spice kick; small pieces of brisket added for extra enjoyment; very good side! -Cole Slaw: lite mayo base; two different cabbages plus carrot pieces; sesame seeds added to give it a nice mild-mayo taste Overall...Mission does a nice job of providing freshly made BBQ. The team was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was clean and spacious. This is a challenge for a self seating area that has lots of customers. Here, you felt like you could relax, take your time and pace yourself.

ACME by Full Cirlce - definitely a destination for smoked wings!…read more This was my first trip to Acme for wings. I was VERY pleased with the large-jumbo smoked and then grilled wings! I have been here for Legalize Marinara pizza which was also excellent!! The team here is always friendly, welcoming and hustles to serve! We started with some fried pickles and Mac & cheese bits. These seemed like a must try and good value on the 3-6pm Monday through Friday happy hour menu. The fried pickles are a dill pickle spear with a moderate amount of breading. The spear has a nice tart dill taste without an after taste bite. It remained fairly crisp after being fried. The breading was fairly plain to taste. It was soft and only slightly oily. It comes with a cup of pretty standard ranch dressing. I liked the spear and would order these again. The Mac & cheese bits were very small. The inside has a couple of elbow noodles bathed in a mild cheese sauce - I thought they would be much bigger. The noodles were very soft and somewhat mushy. The cheese sauce has a standard creamy American cheese flavor that covered the noodles well. The breading was moderately thick, soft and plain to taste like what was on the fried pickles. I wouldn't order these again. Acme's wing offering can be found under the appetizer section as 8 wings for $14. The broad selection of homemade sauces can be found several menu pages later. We went on a Thursday night at 6pm. On this night they had $1 wings. Normal nights it's an additional $1.75 per wing beyond the initial 8 wing offering. This is pretty pricy for the average wing place. However, these wings were large to jumbo sized, smoked and then grilled. I found good value in the price of these large-smoked wings. The wings were smoked to a point where you pick up a pronounced Smokey flavor. The meat was moist and tender. They were nicely cooked to a white color with a tinge of pink at times. The wing was then grilled so that there was evidence of charred tips and skin parts. The smoked and grill proceses made for a delious wing. It appears that Acme has about 19 homemade sauces. I chose the blueberry-cherry and spicy garlic Parmesan. Other members of my group had various BBQ flavors with different degrees of heat. They said that they really liked their choices. I look forward to coming back to try more flavors. In general...I would say that Acme designs their flavors to have a "hint" of the intended flavor designed to not over power the smoked meat flavor. That's what they accomplished. The blueberry-cherry was thicker in consistency like you would expect. It was not "jelly" like in taste, sugar or sliminess. The sauce grabbed ahold of the wing nicely. You picked up hints of blueberry and cherry in the blend. Neither dominated the taste and there was no spicy kick here. Nice non-BBQ taste! The spicy garlic Parmesan sauce was also thick and stuck to the wing nicely. I didn't pick up any spicy flavor or after kick. The sauce seemed like it was poured on the wing pretty heavy. It was fairly light on garlic and cheese flavors with perhaps a more buttery-oil taste. Also a nice taste but not near as bold in flavor as most other places. Overall, I really liked their wings. The smoked and grilled flavors were excellent. The blueberry and garlic Parmesan sauces really accented the wings well. I would encourage you to give Acme a try for wings!

They were good, but neither were smoked. I like smoked meats on the grill, and these seemed to be marinated in Italian dressing and baked. The meat didn't have a char taste. I decided on the pork with greens and potato salad. Again these items weren't as I am familiar with, as they didn't taste homemade with a depth of flavor. The meal was served with white bread. So we tried the spot because my fiancé wanted good barbecue that reminded him of Chicago. The…read morefather and son duo were extremely nice and welcoming and offered us free samples of the food. We really really love the sides, We had dirty rice, mac & cheese, collard greens, yams and beans. Now for the mains we had rib tips in mild sauce, they use a vinegary base which we were not biggest fans of but only because that's not how we are used to having them but it was nice to try something different. And I had the fish and chicken combo, I had perch as my choice of fish. It was my first time trying perch and I don't know if I liked it too much but I feel like it might've been over fried for my liking, it came with hot sauce which helped. It's worth giving a try for some Indiana BBQ, i'd be willing to come back and try some thing else!

They have a good selection on a front and back laminated menu with various dishes from pizza to ribs, chicken and pork dishes. There are also vegan options such as Mac and cheese. For a barbecue place their prices are very reasonable with a daily special I noticed posted in the wall going into the bar part. My granddaughter used some app they are tied into where you can buy songs to play, that seemed popular with everyone. Our table was clean although I do t like being seated by the kitchen entrance when there were plenty of tables elsewhere to be seated. That's why the 4 star, I don't like the in and out of the staff and congregated talking by everyone by our table. I was concerned seeing an employee scratching at his nose in the hallway coming from the bar to the kitchen not stopping to wash his hands, maybe he did in the kitchen part. The food was good, ranges from sides, aka carte to different size platters with what looked like the entire menu on it! The food smells good, the wing sauce was abundant, dripping and delicious, the fish sandwich was very good. They also have take away which was doing a tremendous business while we were there. Located in a small strip mall there is a lot of parking, also handicapped, and easy access into the restaurant. The food and friendliness of the staff was a great experience.
