Michelle is likely your first point of contact since she is, I believe, the Director of "Sales and Marketing" (?). Kara I believe works for her and fills in for Michelle when needed. Both are fabulous, but Michelle really knows her stuff and understands what needs to be done if you are thinking of being part of their community. The place itself is really nice and elegant, with lots of energy and positive activities. Beautiful walking area outside for memory care residents. Trails right outside to walk, are abundant and also very nice as you walk thru the park right there/golf course. Different sized Rooms make up assisted living (AL) --studio, 1 BR, 2 BR. Memory care (MC) only has 2 sizes of studios--385 and 520 sq feet. The views you have contribute to the price as well. They also have Assisted Living with their Essentials support, provides a bridge between AL and MC. Food is pretty nice. Heritage week was being offered where unique foods from other areas around the world were being featured. Service was pretty great. Kind, compassionate when talking to residents. Beautiful set-up with dishes being offered on display as you walk in. Love the front desk team. All super nice and energetic. Very knowledgable and helpful. A nice sized theater for movies. Arts and crafts room. Library space. Outside deck/seats and tables with a very calming and beautiful view. Exercise class in the morning and other activities throughout the day. Live music/happy hour. Super fun all around. If you are looking for a super nice place where your loved one will be well taken care of, and feel safe and happy, this is your place.

From the moment we walked into Cherry Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care (CHAL), we knew it was special. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, and the staff truly seemed to care about the residents. My aunt moved in about a year ago, and it was a huge adjustment - she had been living independently and had no plans to move. The team at CHAL went above and beyond to help her settle in and feel comfortable in her new home. They were patient, kind, and always took the time to make sure she was doing okay. Now, a year later, she's happy and thriving. She enjoys the staff and the beautiful facility. It's such a relief knowing she's well cared for and surrounded by people who genuinely care about her. We're so grateful to everyone at CHAL for making what started as a stressful transition into such a positive experience. I can't recommend them enough!

This review is based off of the tour of memory care and not assisted living. The sales lady was fairly new to HighPointe. We had a pretty good meeting in a common area by the main entry. I explained my relative was diagnosed in 2011 with Alzheimer's related dementia but was (and still is) in great health otherwise. She explained they have 5 levels of care (the most number of care levels out of any place we toured). The top level being $2500.00 a month in addition to the monthly room/board rate. She said based off of what I told her - my relative would probably need HighPointe's top care level at $2500.00 a month? I thought - what? Number one - you're not a nurse and number two - you haven't even done an assessment?? Finally got to tour memory care. So you have to have someone access the 3rd floor via the elevators both going to and leaving memory care - they will not give family members the code (another story related to that later). Memory care is very nice - entire floor U shaped with central dining and activity areas and a nice outdoor patio. The sales lady did not acknowledge any care givers or residents by name. There are only 4 care givers for 30 residents (a low ratio of care givers). The smallest studios are TINY - maybe 180 sq feet. It was depressing to look at. Yes they have larger studios/rooms but the $ amount per month goes up per square footage. Note to HighPointe family - when building additional new communities - design all memory care suites the same size . Your five room choice pricing with additional five care level of pricing is ridiculous. Have your architect spend a week in a memory care community. I inquired with sales lady L - so how do four care givers know what level of care all 30 residents are needing and paying for? Her reply was "they just do". Really? Care givers don't get paid much no matter where they work - so do they honestly know that Bob is a 3, Pat is a 5, Larry is a 1, etc etc? Ok so doing the math - a mid size studio along with level 5 care (which sales person said my relative would need) would put us at over $7000 a month? So we found a community within a mile of HighPointe; -has all inclusive pricing - no care levels and under $6k a month. -all rooms are exact same size in memory care -there are 4 care givers for twenty residents (much better ratio) Recently met the daughter of a resident who said she did her "due diligence " and had selected HighPointe for her mom who probably is at stage 6 with Alzheimer's. She said her mom became so severely dehydrated due to lack of care at HighPointe that she ended up in the hospital for over a week. She moved her to where we are and is so much happier with the care. Met a Director of Nursing for another community who said he had to do an assessment of a HighPointe resident for his community and he had to wait 15 minutes for elevator access to leave the memory care secured area. HighPointe you are a beautiful community but as previous reviews on Yelp and other websites point out - your memory care structure and set up needs some help. When I visited - three of your four care givers were just standing (one was seated) around. I thought to myself "where are the 25 residents and what are they doing".

Once I walked in Carillon, I KNEW this was the place. It looks like the Four Seasons! You don't feel like you are in any kind of home for older people and it honestly has such a wonderful, welcoming charm. Owners are from here and plan on staying here and will respond at ANY time and are remarkable and their staff is so amazing. Everyone commented on how fantastic the food was - even better than most of the highly rated restaurants close by for a fraction of the price. I would not hesitate to to move my own parents here. From the beginning, this facility kept contacting me every couple of months, asking if I had made a decision and pushing for my business. When I was finally ready to move my sister, I met again with the coordinator, who assured me there would be no problems. We did the assessment over FaceTime, and that's where the red flags started. The nurse seemed fixated on the fact that my sister doesn't like to take showers--something that is extremely common with Alzheimer's patients--yet showed no real concern for her actual care needs. At that time, my sister wasn't on a medication schedule, which I explained, but instead of asking important questions, the nurse didn't even bother to meet my sister until I pushed for it. When she finally did, she spoke to her for a few seconds and abruptly ended the call. A few days later, the facility contacted me to say my sister wasn't a "good fit" because of her hygiene. That told me everything I needed to know. If a so-called memory care facility doesn't even understand that hygiene challenges are a direct symptom of dementia, they are not equipped to care for Alzheimer's patients--period. Their lack of basic knowledge and dismissive attitude made it clear they had no idea what they were doing.

But the Libby Bortz Center is very good in their care. I felt guilty during at that time, but I just sold my home in Five Points and moved south to Littleton so my mom would more be more safe and I know friends that can take care of her while I'm at work. But the center is excellent in its care and also designed for people with low to moderate incomes and your timing has to spot on to get a temporary room. You will see an older TV in the room on my photo - it did have a remote control with it.

And could they please stop that? Magically after that, my elderly parent didn't need a 2-3 person assist anymore and no longer needed memory care. It was a "miracle!"

The home care service I was using at the time referred me to Phil Hotaling and what a blessing that was! Phil helped me understand so many issues when it came to being in assisted living and what was and what was not provided. He arranged visits with different homes and together we toured each one. He guided me through the questions and issues pertinent to each home. I selected a wonderful place for Mom! The assisted living home has room for 8 residents and is run by a fantastic couple who live there with their two children. Mom is happy there and I'm happy she is well taken care of by loving caring people. I would never have found this place on my own without Phil's help. Thank you Phil for your help, your guidance and just your wonderful heart and caring about your clients and their family. I would never have made it through this last year with Mom and then Dad needing care all on top of two knee replacement surgeries!
