I reviewed Dr. Dahl back in 2021 when I had a horribly infected cyst. I was very impressed with is professionalism and sensitivity. He is not the dermatologist that I normally go to, but he was available in 2021 and I am so thankful that he was. Fast forward 5 years and the cyst came back. This time it was not infected and Dr. Dahl left it to my discretion on whether to have it removed or not. It had only gotten bigger and I decided that I didn't want to chance it getting infected again or even bigger. He agreed with my decision and I had it removed a week later. I had zero idea how involved the removal process was going to be. My 45 minute procedure turned into almost 2 hours. But all throughout the removal, he was sensitive to my comfort, explained each step, and made small talk. The table looked like a murder scene once he was done, but he got it out and sutured me up nicely. His staff was so friendly and respectful as well. The stitches stayed in for 2 weeks, during those 2 weeks I did have to make a phone call to the office for a concern. Dr. Dahl, himself, talked to me and made me feel better and resolved my concerns. My stitches are out now and I'm healing nicely! It was a huge incision but he did a great job! My back is covered in tattoos and even with the large amount of skin he had tweak, he barely messed up a tattoo. Maybe luck or maybe skill... we'll never know. I went to my "normal" dermatologist soon after the stitches were out, for my monthly treatment, and she wanted to take a look, she was impressed with his work and thankful that I found such a respectable doctor in her absence. Staff has been wonderful too, very friendly. I have not had any issues with overbilling or anything negative as read in some reviews. I think my only complaint is their new phone system, now that they are a part of Schweiger, is harder to get through to a person. Thank you Dr. Dahl and the whole staff!! This happened to me a number of years ago, but I am still suffering from Dr. Dahl's "care." I had rough spot on my lower lip, but Dr. Dahl said it was nothing. Three months later I went back and had it biopsied . Came back cancer. Dahl said I needed a Mohs procedure on my lip. I asked him if I needed to hire a plastic surgeon to suture the lip back together once the procedure was finished and he said: "No, I use plastic surgery closing tecniques I learned at the Mayo Clinic." Well, quite a bit of lip tissue was removed and Dahl sutured the lip together horizontally. Afterwards, my mouth had a huge dip leaked drool all the time. I went to three different plastic surgeon's (two in OC and one in Beverly Hills) and all three said the mouth was sutured together incorrectly (it should have been done vertically, not horizontally.). One plastic surgeon took one look at me and told me that I'd been "mutilated." Not what you want to hear about your mouth. Anyway, I had to have Dr. Dahl's Mayo Clinic closing redone by a surgeon in Beverly Hills, who had to take out another wedge of tissue and tghen sewed it back together correctly. Dr. Holmkvist is a good doctor. Dr. Dahl is a good doctor, when he's not in a bad mood. The reason for my one star rating is not the doctors, but rather the office staff. I've been coming here years, every time I come in I give them my insurance card. I went in this year, gave them my card, they said nothing. It turned out they were no longer in my network, but the office staff didn't even know that. So I got a bill for $368. I called up my insurance company, Blue Shield, they called the office and the office told the insurance company that they were in my network. I find it interesting that the office is telling the insurance company that they're in my network, when they're not. I disputed the charge, of course my insurance didn't care. I paid the bill, but the office staff at this office is completely incompetent. I will never go back there. They don't know what they're doing, when they're telling the insurance company that the insurance company is wrong. What a joke. read more

Very pleased with Dr. Dahl and his staff. I followed their process and everything worked out very smoothly. I had cyst removed from the back side of scalp and was completed quickly and painless. The surroundings were very clean and calming. Carried a nice conversation during the procedure and before I knew it, I was walking back to my car. "You're doing just fine." Told to my mother again and again, each visit as her skin cancer got worse and worse. It turns out that the medicine he prescribed was normally used for 6 weeks only. But after we had seen Dr. Dahl for 6 MONTHS, hearing him say "you're doing just fine", we went to another doctor who actually cared. He told us that the medicine was actually causing the problem because it was not supposed to be used for 6 months. The only good thing I can say was the office staff was nice. I stopped going to this Doctor a few years ago. I found it took weeks to be seen. Then when I finally did have an appt, I waited an inexcusable amount of time in the waiting room and the exam room before he actually saw me. He rushed through the appointment and I was on my way. When I wanted to speak about an issue, he just stared at me with a blank look then dismissed my questions! The front desk staff wasn't very friendly either. read more

Worst bedside manner. Dr seems like he just wants your money. I went in to remove a cyst that had just started to get infected. The nurse also suggested I get a full body exam since I am paying for it in the new patient fee anyway but when the dr. saw me, he just looked at my cyst. Instead of removing the cyst I had, he says I need to go on antibiotics to reduce the infection. I then asked if he is going to do a full exam and he says "no thats something your primary care physician can do." Then why did your nurse suggest I do it?? I was so annoyed I just left. After a few days I went to see a dr. at urgent care and he said the dermatologist should've been able to remove the cyst when the infection was small which it was. I went back to the derm and there was a different dr who said I would need to start over as a new patient and redo the consult and pay another fee. The nurse wouldn't even let me talk to Dr. Dahl on the phone since they said he charges $85 just to talk to him for 2 mins because that is considered a consultation. Dr. Dahl is rude and has the worst service you could get from a dr. He doesnt seem like he cares about his patients. He is an old man who seems like he hates his job. Stay far, far away! No one is EVER in the waiting room. The front desk is less than professional or friendly. I agree that u wait forever to spend a couple of minutes with the Dr. He treated my son for acne and it cleared up. Then....on a return visit, he changed everything and his acne became worse than it was originally. When I went back to complain (I had not paid the bill due to being soooo dissatisfied). The receptionist said I had to pay the balance PLUS this visit in advance to c the Dr. I have a full coverage health insurance. We quickly left the building and I will tell EVERYONE I meet about this encounter. Business must be bad to treat patients like that! read more

Dr Dahl has done a good job for me treating me for acne. He has an analytic mind and is committed to getting his patients what they need. For my case, much of it was trial and error but everyone's body reacts different to medications. Don't be thrown off by the fact that he is brief in appointments because that's just his personality. Dr. Dahl has been my dermatologist for years and I have been very happy with the medical care he provides. I spent alot of time in the sun and now am paying the price. Dr. Dahl has treated several skin cancers most of them on my face and arms. He has treated them surgically and with medicated creams with fantastic cosmetic results. He has a great bedside manner and is very meticulous in how he care for me as a patient. Their office is very timely and the doctor seldom is late. Dr. Dahl sees his patient's within 15 min of the schedule appointment time. It is easy to get an appointment with him even on short notice. His office has a patient portal that makes getting test results very convenient. His office bills my insurance and then sends me a statement for the balance. I have been very happy with the care his has provided and recommend him highly. read more

I have been treated by this doctor for years. I had been to other Doctors but they were not able to help me as much as Dr. Dahl. His care and compassion are outstanding. He spends time and listens to me during my office visits and those of my family. He is almost always on time which I appreciate since I am a busy professional. I have several medical problems which he takes into consideration in providing my skin care. Dr. Dahl has treated several of my skin cancers and I have been extremely pleased with the outcomes of the treatment. He always reminds me to avoid the sun when possible and to use sun protection when I am in the sun. Hopefully this will mean fewer skin cancers in the future. He has a very busy practice and a routine appointment might take weeks but when I explain to the receptionist that I have an urgent problem Dr. Dahl finds a way to see me in a few days. read more

My son has gone to Dr. Dahl twice now for a skin issue and the doctor has spent less than 4 minutes Total with him. He does not spend the time to try and figure out what is going on he just prescribes different medicines and hopes one will work. Don't waste your time going here! read more

Patrick Dahl was my dermatologist for years until he botched the suturing of a Mohs procedure on my lower lip. Prior to the surgery I asked him a number of times if I should bring a plastic surgeon in to close the wound and he told me that his partner" uses plastic surgery closing techniques", thus a plastic surgeon would be unnecessary. That was literally the single worst piece of medical advice I've every received. After the Mohs procedure, I was left with a deeply disfiguring depression (divot) in my lower lip. Instead of his partner closing the wound using plastic surgery techniques, Dr. Dahl, himself sutured the wound together (horizontally). He kept telling me the wound would heal properly and that the divot would go away. The wound didn't heal properly. Since Sr. Dahl wouldn't do anything more, I had to see four other plastic surgeons in OC (and one in Newport Beach told me that I was "mutilated"). Not exactly the surgical result I was looking for. The problem was that the lip was stitched together incorrectly by Dahl (it should have be stitched together vertically instead of horizontally). Thus, I had to go through a second painful surgery with a real plastic surgeon where a half inch of my lip was removed (the part Dahl stitched up) and restitched correctly. Dr. Dahl was never to concerned with my disfigurement, and that really bummed me out as I'd known the doctor for over 10 years. It is clear that Dr. Dahl put own his financial gain above what was in the patient's best interest--otherwise, why would he not have encouraged me to bring in my own plastic surgeon after the Mohs surgery so I would be HAPPY with the result instead of devastated? I surely hope that Dahl learned a lesson from my case. It's better to not over promise a patient and perform a closing you're not competent to do, instead,--especially when it involves the face and a patient's appearance. By the way, because I was required to undergo a second procedure, I have a massive dead spot in the the middle of my lower lip due to nerve damage. That dead spot will NEVER go away. I have been with Dr Dahl for many years. It has been very lucky for me that I found him. All my adult life, I vacationed in the sun belt and spent many hours snorkeling in the ocean. Now I am suffering the consequences. Dr. Dahl has me do regular checkups every three months, especially after I had melanoma - all body checks, sometimes head and arms checks. Dr. Dahl spotted melanoma on my back while it was in phase 0 and referred me to a specialist at UCI for treatment. He spotted cancer on the tip of my noise and had a Hohs treatment coordinated with a Plastic surgeon in Newport. Dr Dalh spotted cancer above my right eye and safely removed the cancerous tissue. I greatly appreciate his awareness of potential cancer and the use of the Nitrogen many time although it is sometimes painful. It saved me many future problems. I am not too critical to the surgical outcome as long as it is cancer free. If you are a person who is very critical, I would just have Dr Dahl team with a Plastic surgeon who can handle the cosmetics part as I did. His most valuable worth to me is his ability to spot skin cancer in its earliest stage so I have been able to avoided the devastating consequences of undetected cancer. read more
