I have been a patient of Dr. Hick for about two years. His bedside manner is comforting, as he is not only knowledgeable but also very compassionate, which helps me deal with the potential melanomas that have accumulated on my face and arms over the many years I have spent in the sun. Most can be treated with freezing. Recently, one of these 'potential' melanomas tested positive and was located along the top of my eyebrow, requiring Mohs surgery. I have had one other of these procedures on my cheek done by another dermatologist, and it left a pronounced hole that I have attempted to cover with my beard. However, the placement of this one was much more concerning as I imagined it leaving a gaping scar above my eye. My stepfather had one done on his forehead that was difficult to miss every time you looked at him. The Mohs procedure was quick and painless, with short waits to hear whether the test samples' margins were clear of cancer cells. Dr. Hick then did an amazing job of keeping the incision small, even though it required two attempts to clear all the margins. What I most want to brag about this professional is the care and time he took to suture with tiny thread, which, to my surprise, left me with a scar that very few people have noticed. Dr Hicks is a great Dr. The problem is his office staff. They make up stuff to get you to leave then they don't do what they say.

I have been going to Dr Hick for several years. I recently moved from Manhattan Beach to Westwood, but I have continued to stay a client, despite the drive down to the south bay. Dr Hick is honest, caring and compassionate. He will tell you if a treatment you are considering is worth doing. He will honestly assess your skin, and not try to upsell you if he feels it unnecessary. I find this integrity often lacking in his profession. He puts his patients first! Highly recommend Dr. Hick. I've been to so many other derms and med spas for acne/aging/pigmentation concerns and after seeing Dr. Hick, my skin looks better than it has in years. I honestly didn't know my skin could look this good. He was extremely thoughtful in administering my botox, gave honest recommendations and did not over do it - which I appreciate. Pursuant to my conversation with Caitlyn on April 16, 2020 and a $480.00 invoice, you have referred to Leonard & Associates collection agency, and in an attempt to resolve this problem, I sent you a letter explaining that I am unhappy with my procedures' outcome. Since I have not heard back from you, I am getting ready to start a malpractice lawsuit for the procedure that Dr. Hick underwent on my right hand, which looks much worse than before the operation. I had health insurance at the time of the procedure even though Dr. Hick were paid in full, which was directly from my insurance company. Dr. Hick has also sent me an invoice for $480.00. A question from my insurance company would be if this operation were an essential or a cosmetic matter? I have before and after photos of the scar. The girls at the office will put you on hold for long periods of time till you get tired and possibly will hang up the phone. Kathy said Dr Hick only works one day a week from 10 AM till 2 PM with 1 hour break for lunch! I am not sure if these guys are for real and squeezing peoples' pockets. I was worried when I relocated to L.A. that I wouldn't be able to find a good dermatologist, but Dr. Hick has been fantastic! I could tell it was a busy day, however he sat and listened to all of my questions and gave thought out responses. I absolutely recommend Dr Hick. I had an elevated rash/bumps on my finger that was very apparent and made me self conscious. I was told from other doctors that is was related to eczema and even received eczema cream as treatment for it, but that did not work. When I saw Dr Hick, he identified exactly what it was IMMEDIATELY. The treatment he provided showed instant results and the rash/bumps diminished within the first week! I was fortunate to have had someone refer me to Dr. Hick just over a year ago. I've been to his Laguna Niguel and Anaheim locations. Both offices have extremely friendly, helpful and efficient staff. In this past year Dr. Hick has done three Mohs procedures on me and all I can say is he is brilliant. He has a pathologist on site that is able to determine if he has gotten clean margins during the actual procedure. This completely eliminates the possibility of having to repeat the procedure or having too much good tissue removed unnecessarily. Last month I visited a Newport Beach plastic surgeon, to inquire about removing a small scar on my forehead. This doctor said he couldn't because of some reason I still don't understand, but he did offer to do an (unwanted) eyebrow lift and neck lift for thousands of dollars. Long story short, Dr. Hick just removed the scar, it took about two minutes and it's healing just fine. Just learned Dr. Hick also teaches at a medical school in Los Angeles. I love this doctor, he is easy to talk to and really listens to his patients. I see him at his Anaheim location and the office staff is always friendly and very efficient. I have been to several Doctors over the last few years due to a skin condition on my lowers legs. I tried many creams and other treatments to no avail, my legs were only getting worse. It finally got so bad that I was hospitalized with cellulitis in both legs. When I found Dr. Hick he listened to me and decided on a course of treatment that has completely cleared up the skin on my legs.
