I popped into town to take my dad to a doctor's appointment. While waiting in the doctor's office I was looking through a Discover Columbus magazine and saw Lucabe Coffee Co listed in an article. I decided to look them up and turns out they had opened up a new location just down the street! I read an article about the history of the building they opened their new location in - it's pretty cool if you feel like looking it up. (Check out: dezeen.com & search "Lucabe Coffee Company") They have two locations, one in downtown Columbus and the other is their new location next to Haw Creek. The Haw Creek location shares a parking lot with a strip mall so parking is super easy. They also have a drive thru. Since this was my first time visiting I went in and checked out the space. Their building is absolutely beautiful - wall to wall windows with views of the creek and sunlight pouring in (which is def appreciated during the month of February). They have a main seating area next to where you order and another seating area above the main entrance. They also have loads of outside seating next to the creek. I bet the patio will be packed once the weather warms up! The staff was super friendly. I had a few questions about their drinks + baked goods and the barista had loads of recommendations. They also have a rotating seasonal menu that had just came out that day. Their chai latte is authentic Indian Masala (which has more bold hues of clove and cardamom, compared to a chai latte you'd get somewhere else that is focused on cinnamon and black tea). I had never had a masala chai before and I definitely liked it - but still prefer my regular chai lattes more. The blueberry scone had a drizzle of icing, which added the perfect amount of sweetness. The Garden Biscuit had tomato and spinach infused in the egg with Gouda and a wildberry glaze all on a housemade biscuit. The biscuit itself tasted amazing and sandwich over all had great layers of flavor and was delicious! I will definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Dulce de Leche is delicious!!! Hands down one of the best coffees I've had in a long time!

Favorite coffee spot in Columbus! My husband and I love coming here on slow Saturday mornings. Their breakfast sandwiches are GREAT! And their coffee is pretty fab too. We especially like the dulce de leche drizzle they can add to drinks as well. The staff is always friendly and helpful as well. While it may be a smidge more expensive than a chain coffee place, it is well worth the extra $$$. Both of Their locations also have super cute sitting areas as well.

The cutest place! Pictures don't do it justice. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, the coffee and breakfast offerings are extraordinary. Drive thru is convenient. Highly recommend!

They were so good! The interior is SO cute and unique. This location is an old bank they converted and the kids play room is in the old vault! It was such a great idea. And the food and coffee was fabulous! I got a maple Latte with oat milk and a biscuit! The biscuits are unique and build your own style. I absolutely loved it! Can't wait to go back!

I think the location is so cool, it's so creative to turn an old bank into a coffee shop.

Even with all the space they look pretty busy whenever I pass by, but that's only been on weekends, so it may be quieter during the week. On a weekend afternoon, though, you will not find quiet here. They have all the standard drinks you expect at a coffee shop and lots of fun specials, but the food selection is a little limited. I think they normally serve soup Mon-Sat but they were out when I got there. I got a bagel with schmear, a zebra (chocolate crinkle) cookie, and one of the February specials called "Opposites Attract" which was a raspberry chai latte. Everything I got was pretty good, especially the fresh, chewy zebra cookie. They warmed it up which made it just a little gooey. The raspberry chai was an interesting combination. i wasn't completely sold on the raspberry - I didn't dislike it but probably wouldn't get it again - but I think I liked the chai itself. The baristas and bookstore staff were all welcoming, and the vibe is very inclusive. I've come in and looked around the store a few times, and the staff seems approachable if you need anything but will leave you alone if you're just browsing.

Their latte prices are also as cheap as they can make them while still making a profit. A latte here would run you around $5 compared to the $8 or $9 at other cafes. They can also order any books you'd like if they don't have them in stock. Great book selection though and such friendly staff who are happy to help! This place is way more than a bookstore and cafe though- they host community events, have book clubs, hold poetry nights and more! You can really get involved in the community through a place like this! Wifi is good and free, plenty of space to study

I unfortunately didn't have the best experience here however, the atmosphere was so warm and cozy…read moreand I love the location. I ordered a grilled cheese along with a sugar pie slice and a London fog. They have other baked good options which looked good too. The grilled cheese was very small and I think cheese got into the pan because it was also cooked onto the bottom side of the sandwich. It was a very small grilled cheese. The London fog tasted quite strong and the sugar pie didn't really stand out. There were other items on the menu though that I'd love to try if I ever go back. What I think took this down to 3 stars was the service. When I went to order, I was just stared at and I thought maybe they weren't ready for me yet but they were. There was just no greeting of "Hi, welcome in" or even a "What can I get for you?" It was just a stare and silence. Now the staff were not unkind...they certainly seemed friendly but that lack of greeting didn't feel great. Additionally, they were very quiet or mumbled when calling out orders and so it seemed like many people listening never heard their order including me. I also had to ask again for the pie after having paid. I bought a bandana as well and didn't see the price tag. When I asked how much it was the staff member said it was either 12 or 15 dollars. She rang it up as 15 when later I saw the price tag and it clearly said $12. I showed the staff member and she said it was $15 and it was a handwriting issue for the price tag. I rarely write reviews less than five stars but I do think if there could be a bit more initiative from the staff and orders called out more clearly and louder for drinks so they don't spoil that would really help.

You walk in already knowing -- whoever built this, built it with love. Arlene's delivered on that promise from the first bite. I started with the Shakshuka -- a beautiful, layered meeting of flavors that moved the way good food should: with intention. Each bite felt considered, balanced, like everyone in that kitchen genuinely cared. But then came the key lime pie. That texture? Smooth like a promise. Buttery in a way that makes you close your eyes and go somewhere else entirely. The crust held its ground with just the right density before giving way in the most satisfying ratio your teeth have ever experienced. And that mascarpone topping -- cool, pillowy, finished with flaky sea salt that hit like punctuation at the end of a very good sentence. It didn't just taste good. It tasted true. Arlene's, I'll be back sooner than is probably reasonable. And I'm bringing people who deserve to feel what I felt. Sincerely, Your Newest Lover

Same great staff, same cool space, same open kitchen where a party of one like me can grab a counter seat and watch the chefs do their thing. I've honestly always enjoyed that part of the experience. Today I had the avocado toast with feta and an egg on top, and it totally hit the spot. Earlier this week I tried one of the newer menu items -- fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, plus a sample of jalapeño cornbread and Asian slaw. Incredible comfort food. And as someone who normally isn't much of a slaw person, I was surprised by how much I loved it. They also tried to tempt me with the roast beef special, which honestly looked great, but at 10:30 in the morning I just couldn't fully commit to roast beef yet. Maybe next time. The new name is a nice tribute to the owner's mother, Arleen, but thankfully it still feels like the Milktooth so many of us have come to enjoy over the years. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been in awhile.
