I've been here once and had such a horrible experience that I'm probably not gonna go back ever again. I went for some candy, and the candy bag said something like buy one for $1.25 or two for $2. When I went to the cashier, she charged me $4 for two bags. I tried to explain to her what it clearly states on the bag and, that's when she began to insult me, raise her voice, and still charged me $4 (plus tax). I told her that she was wrong and this is illegal, then she threatened to call the cops. So I left. The reviews are probably from their friends and relatives. Well, Randy came to the rescue and put together an entire ice cream bar for me - from delicious assorted ice cream cups to wonderful hot fudge and assorted toppings -Reese's , Oreos , caramel, chocolate, crunchiest, marshmallow , whipped cream with a cherry on top . My story is about the owner of this place. we have been in hospitals with my dad for a year, and these past two months he has been in bed. Sunday was the first time we went out. The moment we came out of the car and put him on the wheel chair a true summer storm started and my dad has a pump that can't get wet and his life depends on it. I panicked trying to get him in the car but that was not possible. I asked the owner for a plastic trash bag and he comes out, gets my dad inside the ice cream place, gave us towels, bags and even offered ice cream while we waited for the rain to stop. Amazing customer service from the African American gentleman working Friday night! Please give him a raise-- he deserves it all. I wish he was wearing a name tag, he deserves a whole lot of attention. A smile on his face with every customer and a whole lot of patience. He was so kind and pleasant with everything and everyone. Although there was a long line, he had a great attitude. He was practically running the whole show all on his own. An older male employee popped his head out once we left but he didn't seem as nice. There should be more employees working on the front end on a busy day like this. Despite waiting 15 minutes to get to the front of the line on a hot Friday night, the service we received made up for it. Ice cream from Richardson's is a must. You can't beat that. I am happy for one thing that I was raised on DB's soft-serve ice cream since I first moved to Randolph (as a 3 year-old). It's one of the best ones around! Plus, I don't live far from it. I always have a great experience with customer service whenever I come here. Nostalgia stays with me whenever I order a soft serve in a cone and eat it either in my car or in the lot on a sunny/warm day. I love the transition that Dairy Barn went through, especially with the colorful spray painted works in the back! They play old-school music too :) My personal favorite is the coffee ice cream/ raspberry sherbet blend. I recommend trying the dips (butterscotch is my personal favorite, cherry is okay but for some reason tasted a little like medicine for me), but be warned it gets pretty messy when you take a bite into it! I also like getting the Gelati (?) where you choose the italian ice flavor and choice of ice cream to layer into sort of a parfait :) This is way better than Dairy Queen. If you were driving by Dairy Barn, your first reaction wouldn't be to pull in and give it a shot. It's located in a run-down plaza and looks like an older Dairy Queen. But, if you were to pass it up, you would be missing out on some great ice cream at good prices! You order at a window and there is no indoor seating though they have a couple park benches outside where you can sit in the parking lot and eat your ice cream before it melts. It has a fun vibe to it with action-figures such as Batman, Spiderman, Mario & Luigi, Marvin, and others spread around. There is graffiti art and funky music playing. I had chocolate ice cream, peanut butter cups, chocolate and peanut butter sauces all mixed together in their version of a Blizzard. It was possibly the best Blizzard-style ice cream/sundae I've had! My husband bought us a soft served chocolate ice cream yesterday, my husband tried it once and he said it wasn't good and he feels like they didn't clean the machine of the soft served, my son was crying thats why he bought it for him ( but we shared it's a big serving), after a while my son seems to have a diarrhea and started crying and seems uncomfortable and he is getting temperature while i am starting to feel pain on my tonsils ‍‍ so i figured out that were both having tonsillitis and honestly it only happens to me if i eat A NOT SO CLEAN FOOD, the comfort food we were expecting turns out to be the source of me and my son's sickness right now. The server tells me $12.47, a little more than I had calculated but fine. I hand over my card, she rings me up, no receipt and that was okay. We left and enjoyed our ice cream. Dairy Barn is one of Randolph's local ice cream places. Dairy Barns ice cream is nothing special. It is really just a place for getting ice cream for the sake of getting ice cream. The hard ice cream isnt that great and same goes for the soft serve. Their soft serve flurry/blizzard thing is horrible. The soft serve ice cream is completely liquidized with some candy lazily thrown in. Might as well order a milk shake. They have some home made items like DB bars, chippywiches, and frozen bananas. The chippywich is better than a store bought ice cream cookie sandwhich. My friends and I were spending a very hot day at Blue Hills Reservation when we got a craving for ice cream. Checked yelp to find that the Dairy Barn was the closest spot. What a great find! They don't make any of their ice cream but they had lots of choices for all different types of preferences. Some of my friends got the hard ice cream. Some got the soft serve. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had Italian ice and thus were able to make "gelati". Soft serve on the bottom, Italian ice in the middle, and soft serve on the top! Loved the variety of choices. Got the vanilla soft serve with cherry Italian ice. Very good! Very refreshing treat for a hot day!
