Walking into Foley's is like taking a step down memory lane into this adorable retro ice cream shoppe. The ice cream servers were very friendly, scooped ice cream and rung up the sales efficiently. The apple ice cream (it may have been called Dutch apple) in a waffle cone was creamy, delicious, and the cinnamon didn't overpower the apple. The Classic hot fudge sundae was like the sundaes we ate when we were kids. I would have appreciated a few more creative flavors, but Foley's still deserves five stars. read more

stopped in here on labor day. 2021,, we ordered black raspberry cone and a coffee ice cream with hot fudge and whipped cream.. we both. noticed a slight crunch to the ice cream. the crunch was from the uniform ice throughout the ice cream. not sure if that's intentional but it wasn''t pleasant. the coffee flavoring was a bit off, didn''t taste like actual coffee and neither did the black raspberry. the hot fudge and whipped cream were good, but with the crunchy ice cream, it wasn't a nice fit.. read more

In need of ice cream on a hot September day and hopped on Yelp to find a new place. We love our creamy homemade ice cream (read: ice cream aficionados) and I wanted to try out this shop based on reviews calling the ice cream creamy. The shop is quaint and charming, really playing on the old school vibe without being tacky. The walls are adorned in a beautiful antique pink and black and white checkered floors round out the character. 5 for the atmosphere. The ice cream was pretty good, although not homemade. It is worth noting that it's made locally at a farm, so points for that! My boyfriend and I were a tad disappointed not to see a chocolate brownie or death by chocolate, but each settled with great options. The peanut butter frozen yogurt was smooth and flavorful and his Kahlua fudge was creamy and chocolatey. Pricing was fair, we each had a one scoop (small) for $6 total. The owner informed us they would be open during the winter (bonus points!!) so we will be back for a late season scoop or to try a tempting milkshake. Worth the stop in! read more

Stopped by the other day for ice cream. The shop is very cute. They make their own waffle cones but otherwise has standard ice cream flavors. There are only a few tables for dine in; they were full at the time so we ate in the car. The waffle cones are very good and I enjoyed mine; however, the ice cream I had tasted a bit like it had some freezer burn. I might have just chosen the wrong ice cream flavor at the time (maple walnut). Based on this visit, I am unlikely to return. read more

The place has an old 50's vibe, checkerboard floors and pink walls with black-and-white photos, a nice aesthetic on the otherwise drab semi-industrial street. I'm having Almond Joy and loving it. The ice cream has that rich real cream flavor and texture you expect from a small shop, and while I wish it had more almonds, the ones it has are nicely toasted. AC is up a little high, but that's an odd complaint since I'm eating a frozen treat. I like the look, Love the ice cream. read more

I'm not entirely sure what keeps driving ice cream entrepreneurs to Braintree. In a town of about 35k, why there's are 4 ice cream shops, and 1 fro-yo bar is beyond me, (never mind what might be at the plaza). But I digress, Foley's is here and I'm glad it is. They went for an old time ice cream parlor feel, (black & white checked floor, woodwork, old style lighting, etc) and did a pretty nice job. It's cute and feels homier than Ben & Jerry's and like somebody gave a shit in the planning of the interior. Unfortunately, the planning of the location isn't so great. Yeah, it on a main street but not a portion with foot traffic, and there's no parking other than on street. I've never found this to be an issue, but I could see that it might be at a busy time of day. The staff is always very nice, usually high school age kids, which is impressive. Too often I find staff of that demographic are more concerned with playing with their phone or trash talking with co-workers to pay attention to customer, not the case here so kudos to them for that!. Ok, so to the ice cream. If I'm not mistaken most people that sling ice cream around here use Richardson's, don't know why, but it seems to be the staple of most independent shops. As far a I can tell Foley's does not. This is not a bad thing, but it is something you will notice if you eat a lot of ice cream. Whatever they use is good, arguably as good as Richardson's, but it's not and something is definitely different. I'm a sundae guy, and theirs doesn't disappoint. $6 or $7 depending and they're very generous with the sauces, (nothing worse than a barely sauced sundae!). They do family packs, in various sizes, to go that I've gotten a few time without issue. Make sure you pay the extra couple bucks for a can of whipped cream, not sure why but the industrial stuff they get is WAY better than the "Ready whip" shit at the market. All and all a pretty good spot, worth a drop in next time you have a ice cream craving. read more

So we did not discover the mistake till we left. We would have stayed around a bit had the girl not been borderline rude and then we would have discovered the mistake in an ice cream that we ended up having to toss. Never again! I have celiac disease and found myself in the neighborhood craving ice cream. My wife and I called ahead to see if Foley's had any gluten free offerings. The person on the phone confirmed that they did, so we decided to give the place a try. When we arrived, the young lady behind the counter was very kind and patient as she answered all of my questions about cross contamination and celiac safety. She was very knowledgeable and offered to show me the ingredients for any flavor that I was interested in so I could verify for myself, and also noted that the vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and coffee were all gluten free and kept in a separate freezer space from the other gluten-containing ice creams. They have other gluten free flavors, but since they're in the same freezer with gluten-containing flavors she noted that she couldn't guarantee that there wasn't any cross contamination. I chose coffee (yum!), and it was yummy. The young lady helping us happily changed her gloves (without me asking) and used a different scooper to safely prepare my order. I really enjoyed my ice cream and I'm happy to report that I didn't get sick! Many thanks to Foley's for a safe experience. The shop is super cute, too, and we'll definitely will be coming back here! read more

This is a great little spot, for milkshakes, ice cream w/homemade dipped waffle cones etc. the interior is adorable, very quaint which is refreshing. If you have a nut allergy you will really appreciate the attention that is given. They have 4 delicious nut free options and dedicated sprinkles & Jimmy's. They also use new gloves and scooper.
