I love going to the Dairy Cottage to get ice cream. Their milkshakes are so Yummy. They do serve other kinds of foods that are good.

The food was great and the service was also great! First time we had ever come there.

Best fried chicken and potato wedges that we call JoJo's in a three county area. If you like your chicken crisp with a little pepper, you won't beat this. Get a bucket and take it home. It reheats well. Add a cyclone for dessert and make sure you try the fountain drinks. They have red cream soda and they can add squirts of flavor to your sodas. Elevates the experience. read more

I haven't been there in 25 years for no fault of them, I don't live in Indiana. Today I had the 3 piece chicken dinner & wow for $10 it can't be beat came with 2 sides & a roll. Driving home to Indy, passing through town and it looked like a great local spot. Went inside to order, although they do have a drive though. Friday special was bbq sandwich and I asked how it was and the server kinda made a face and said she likes other things better. So on her recommendation I got a pizza burger. She asked did I want pizza sauce on that and I said yes. (Because what else is on a pizza burger?)I also got onion rings and a plain hot dog for my dog, who was in the car. And a cup of ice, since I had water. I'm a weirdo who likes mayo and ketchup on my orings. They didn't have mayo so I also asked for dipping sauce and she said they had ranch so I said yes to that, too. So the burger had a good amount of cheese, not a lot of sauce. Bun was soft. Food was temperature hot (yay!). Weird meat (?) Tasted fine, but not amazing. Orings were a good #yum. Hot dog was plain (as ordered) and the bun was kind of hard on the bottom but the dog loved it. Side note: looked at my recipes after to see it was $.50 extra for the pizza sauce (on a pizza burger?!), $.50 extra for the ranch, and $.20 for the cup of ice. None of which were announced. Which you all know is a pet peeve. So, Meh. Since I was eating in the car with my doggo, I went back in to get two little kids cones: plain vanilla for him and choc dipped for me. These were only $.60 (+.20 for the dip) and totally cute. So I'd probably eat there again if I was in town. It wasn't that expensive, even with the silly add ons (just build those into the price!) I was on the road, traveling and searching for something that was not McDonald's for dinner. I wanted something where I could go to through a drive up and not get out of my car and something that was homegrown. I found it at this restaurant. First of all the smells while I'm sitting in line make me more hungry. I am not disappointed. Cashier was very nice and service for a drive up for chicken tenders was very quick. My husband and I were in the neighborhood, visiting the Ritzi jewelry store in Brookville. Afterwards, we wanted to grab a quick bite to eat and the owners of Ritzi recommended The Dairy Cottage. To be honest, the restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside. On the inside, though, you are greeted by friendly staff and the aroma of fresh fried chicken. For lunch, I ordered the Super G Boy burger with Jojo fries and Cole slaw. My husband also ordered a burger with onion rings. Everything was served fast and piping hot. My burger was delicious, as were the onion rings. I also have to mention that I ordered the unsweetened tea as my beverage, and it was fabulous too. I'm very picky when it comes to iced tea, and the iced tea served at The Dairy Cottage was perfect and refreshing. I would definitely stop in again the next time we're in town. read more

It was my first time here. I've been hearing about this place for years. I ordered chicken gizzard, cole slaw, and fries. The fries were stale and cold like they had been sitting around a while. The slaw was good, but there were about 3 tablespoons total. Too little for the price. The gizzards were tough, dry, and overcooked. Also, they had that after taste of burnt oil that had not been changed recently. It's not the worst but definitely falls into the category of do not return. Originally, I was leaving a 2 star rating, but as I was writing this, employees came out and sat one table over from me. I could hear them loudly complaining about customers taking too long to leave. I was the only customer at this point and how they needed a break. Then they began talking about picking their noses and other inappropriate things for a restaurant. We moved to Brookville when I was 14.Dairy Cottage quickly became a family favorite and we told everyone to eat there. Now I would not recommend eating there. The chicken is inconsistent, they don't clean fryers enough and when they are the chicken is way over fried or maybe even refried. Of all the places we've traveled, there is no other spot that has chicken and JoJo potatoes as convenient and as perfectly seasoned! Stopped in for lunch for the first time, and my wife even said to the lady at the register we had only come through the drive thru before for ice cream. I asked what their G Boy sandwich was and she said it was like Frisch's Big Boy. So I got a Super. When we got our food, my burger had tomatoes and bacon on it, two things I don't like. The tartar sauce had almost no flavor and the burger itself was mostly bland, but good enough to eat. But it was barely warm. The cheese wasn't melted fully. It's been a while since we've been to the Dairy Cottage for dinner. We love their ice cream,but tonight we went for dinner. My wife had the GBoy and I had the fish hoagie. We both got the basket which came with coleslaw and a side. We both had their JoJos. Everything was good except the JoJos. They were very greasy and limp and the grease had soaked through the potatoes. They used to be crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. I complained about them and they just shrugged. Such a let down. It's a great idea but executed poorly. It's basic store bought food just made in a commercial kitchen. Krinkle cut fries that aren't even seasoned. The chicken tenders were just salt and pepper basic seasoning. Actually over peppered. McDonald's has better quality nuggets. Blt wasn't bad but I mean it's bacon lettuce tomato. Really can't mess that up unless you forgot something. Food didn't come with any sides, also wasn't really informed of anything. From the looks of the fried food I would honestly say the fryers are old or unclean. The bathroom was exactly how the place felt. Cold, cheap, poorly executed and made to look nice so that you don't notice the crappy details. The price is right if you had the quality of food. A place like this I would expect homemade bbq or even honey mustard but even that was store bought single use baby rays sauces. I don't see this lasting long if they keep pushing for cheaply made food. read more

The service is great and the food is what you would expect from a place like this. I often get their BLT sandwich thats cheap and delicious! Their chicken is also good but stay away from their gizzards. I went there on 3 different occasions to try to get gizzards and finally when they had them in stock, I was disappointed to say the least. Overcooked and over breaded with no salt or pepper on them! Worth a stop for some local eats. Fried chicken rivals KFC recipe. Very juicy, tender and flavorful. Chicken tenders are good size but not what the kids are used to eating from other places. Chili dog seemed small even though they do load on the toppings. Homemade orange sherbet and fried chicken were highlights of the meal. read more

The fried chicken always pleases the whole family although I'd say their mashed potatoes aren't the greatest in my opinion. I always get a soft serve cone to end the meal or some of their home made sherbet. If you're near Brookville, IN it's definitely worth a stop. read more

First time to eat there a week ago. Had a few people tell me about how good the fried chicken was I I thought I'd give it a shot. After all, there has to be some reason they're backed up to the door every Sunday when we go by? Ordered the 3pc chicken platter, with coleslaw, potato wedges and a roll. The chicken didn't disappoint and neither did the potatoes! Chicken breasts were large, slightly crispy and juicy. The wedges had a slight crispness but not dry, very flavorful. Their menu is expansive with many of your favorite comfort type fried foods, as well as hoagies, burgers, salads and more. They also have quite an ice cream selection if that's what your after. The staff were approachable but I wouldn't go as far as to say overly friendly. Establishment was clean and the atmosphere nice. We'll be back to try more. read more
