Kids cones, super cute, great deal at only $.60 (+.20 for the choc dip) #yum #ReviewsByRL
    Raena L.

Driving home to Indy, passing through town and it looked like a great local spot. Went inside to order, although they do have a drive though. Friday special was bbq sandwich and I asked how it was and the server kinda made a face and said she likes other things better. So on her recommendation I got a pizza burger. She asked did I want pizza sauce on that and I said yes. (Because what else is on a pizza burger?)I also got onion rings and a plain hot dog for my dog, who was in the car. And a cup of ice, since I had water. I'm a weirdo who likes mayo and ketchup on my orings. They didn't have mayo so I also asked for dipping sauce and she said they had ranch so I said yes to that, too. So the burger had a good amount of cheese, not a lot of sauce. Bun was soft. Food was temperature hot (yay!). Weird meat (?) Tasted fine, but not amazing. Orings were a good #yum. Hot dog was plain (as ordered) and the bun was kind of hard on the bottom but the dog loved it. Side note: looked at my recipes after to see it was $.50 extra for the pizza sauce (on a pizza burger?!), $.50 extra for the ranch, and $.20 for the cup of ice. None of which were announced. Which you all know is a pet peeve. So, Meh. Since I was eating in the car with my doggo, I went back in to get two little kids cones: plain vanilla for him and choc dipped for me. These were only $.60 (+.20 for the dip) and totally cute. So I'd probably eat there again if I was in town. It wasn't that expensive, even with the silly add ons (just build those into the price!) I've read the good comments about the fried chicken so that seems like it'd be a good thing to try. #ReviewsByRL #NewToMePlace #trynewthings

    Drive up lane!
    Marley W.

I was on the road, traveling and searching for something that was not McDonald's for dinner. I wanted something where I could go to through a drive up and not get out of my car and something that was homegrown. I found it at this restaurant. First of all the smells while I'm sitting in line make me more hungry. I am not disappointed. Cashier was very nice and service for a drive up for chicken tenders was very quick. When I'm in Brookville, I'll stop here again.

The woman on the drive through speaker repeatedly said she could not hear us, we had to scream our order at her. We asked for two vanilla ice creams with whipped cream. Two five piece chickens. She gave us two ice creams with PEANUTS all over them. IM SEVERELY ALLERGIC TO PEANUTS! Our five piece chickens LOOKED PUTRID. They served us a spine and rib cage! I'm appalled, and disgusted. We will never be returning.

It was my first time here. I've been hearing about this place for years. I ordered chicken gizzard, cole slaw, and fries. The fries were stale and cold like they had been sitting around a while. The slaw was good, but there were about 3 tablespoons total. Too little for the price. The gizzards were tough, dry, and overcooked. Also, they had that after taste of burnt oil that had not been changed recently. It's not the worst but definitely falls into the category of do not return. Originally, I was leaving a 2 star rating, but as I was writing this, employees came out and sat one table over from me. I could hear them loudly complaining about customers taking too long to leave. I was the only customer at this point and how they needed a break. Then they began talking about picking their noses and other inappropriate things for a restaurant. At this point, it's a 1 star only because I can't leave a zero. horrible establishment.

We went for their breakfast but unfortunately, they didn't serve breakfast anymore. We got chicken sandwiches and they were very good. Cheryl G.

It's an old establishment and a bit on the grungy side, in a good way. Service was friendly and we were checked on. We sat at one of the tables on the bar side. There was some kind of delay in my husband's order and the waitress brought him an extra chicken leg to make up for it. Nice. When you walk in you're on the dining side and there is a fairly high wall separating from the bar. So you may want to mosey to the other side to get noticed. I can see where you could get overlooked for service if you're on the wrong side. The bar has a classic appearance and the decor is country. The parking lot is weird and small, looks like you could get boxed in if you're not careful. There was metered street parking too. Hours of business seem to be in a state of flux so I would definitely call ahead. I was disappointed and very surprised to see they still had Covid fear signs, enough to be annoying, including a request to wear plastic gloves for the salad bar. You kidding me? Five stars for the chicken and hospitality, one for the Covid posturing. I hope to see that long gone when we get back here again.

What was previously a surprisingly elegant dining space with exquisite steaks and specialty items in an Indiana casino, is temporarily their main restaurant. Service still excels and the food is tasty. I ate the crab cakes (appetizer) as an entrée and couldn't finish. The texture was perfect and the taste was very good. My dining companion had the filet accompanied by the asparagus and said it was fantastic! In addition to a few steaks--there is a chicken entree, sandwiches and other lighter meals on the menu. It was a Friday night and we were about 15 minutes early for our reservation. We were greeted at the door of the restaurant as soon as we walked in. We were immediately ushered to our table. Our waiter was at the table a few minutes later to introduce himself and see if we wanted anything to drink. I ordered the Second Circle martini and the hubby got an iced tea. Our excellent waiter was Patrick. The Second Circle martini is Woodford Reserve bourbon, Ruby port, maple syrup, and Bitters. The martini was good with the overriding flavors being the port and maple syrup. Really did not taste the Woodford but I liked it. Someone brought a bread service to the table and poured water. Patrick took our order for starters when he brought the drinks back. We ordered the steak tartare and the chicken livers. I have had the chicken livers here before and already knew that I liked them. The chicken livers are served on a bed of frisee lettuce, sweet red onions, and aged balsamic vinegar. This perfectly complements the crispy on the outside and tender on the inside chicken livers. The hubby liked the steak tartare better. The steak tartare was made with black garlic, egg yolk jam, shiso, a bone marrow cracker, and togarashi. Both were tasty ways to start our meal. Patrick took our order for dinner when he brought out our starters. The hubby ordered the 14 oz New York strip and a loaded baked potato. I ordered the lobster bisque and coho salmon. In addition I ordered another martini, the vanilla espresso martini. Patrick brought my lobster bisque out shortly after that. This was very tasty and reminiscent my favorite lobster bisque. The only thing I would change would be to make it a little bit thicker but it had excellent flavor it had a little bit of pernod cream and a few bites of lobster. Our dinner was brought to the table and he set the baked potato in between us because it was huge any thought we might want to share it! The hubby ordered his steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly and he said it had great flavor. My coho salmon was cooked perfectly as well and I had never eaten wheat berries and they were slightly crunchy giving the dish some texture. We both really enjoyed our main dishes with no complaints. To top off the night I ordered coffee with cream and creme brulee. He brought my coffee to the table in a stainless steel pitcher and he brought a pitcher of cream and he had also taken the extra step to warm up my coffee cup. This was awesome! I love my coffee to be very hot and this was perfect. A little bit later he brought the creme brulee in the hubby and I shared it the burnt sugar on top was nice and crusty and we had to crack through it just like you should. We had a very enjoyable meal and will definitely be going back. I would suggest asking for Patrick on your trip in as he did an excellent job.

If you hear banjos, RUN. However! It's worth the drive and the possible buckshot injuries to get yourself to the Laurel Hotel for their Friday and Saturday buffet. You can choose from either the Country Buffet ($13.95) or the Seafood Buffet ($17.95). There's really not a huge difference between the two, as long as you're not a rabid crab/frog leg fan (which we are not). There's still a variety of seafood (mostly of the fried variation) on the Country Buffet. The chicken and dumplings are worth the price alone. Filling, flavorful and homemade... can't beat that. There's green beans, mashed potatoes, pan-fried chicken... just like you remember Grandma making them. In fact, this whole place kind of smells like Grandma's. Comfort food, old stuff and just a hint of mothballs. It's very clean, though, and the waitress we had, Terry, was very helpful in explaining buffet protocol. We left very satisfied... drove right home and went to sleep on account of the food coma. We'll go again, I'm sure. Apparently you can also take the scenic Whitewater Valley Railroad from Connersville to Laurel in order to eat there. I'd almost suggest that over driving, as State Road 121 is nothing short of treacherous.
