My number one place to get ice cream in CT! These folks have been in the game so long I remember interviewing them for an anniversary tv special in highschool when I went to windsor high. I always pick up *several* quarts of my favorite ice cream before they close for the season. Thank yall for carrying my comfort ice cream.

Cute neighborhood spot. Staff is friendly. Customers are friendly and happy. Outdoor seating overlooking airport.

Run... do not walk here. The worst part about this place is that it's closed for a few months in the winter. I have never had a bad experience, and every thing that my family or I have ordered has been fantastic. Not to mention the prices are affordable. My sister-in-law is lactose free- and absolutely craves the dole whip.. sometimes they even have different flavors like orange dole whip! When I try to make it more health, conscious decision ... I say that with the most severe air quotes... I get the hard raspberry chip yogurt and it is unbelievable. It's a dark raspberry, which I'm usually not a fan of but it's unbelievable. The peanut butter iditarod and the grasshopper are also fantastic and they have a new ice cream called gone bananas... I could keep going on... But really you just need to plug it into your GPS and head over there... Stop wasting your time reading my review and give yourself the treat of your own experience .

A local gem in the Windsor locks community that open in the 1960s, where you'll find probably the SMOOTHEST & CREAMIEST soft serves. They have lots of flavors and even sundaes, floats and hard Ice cream. There is a reason the lines are wrapped around the parking lot. If your missing Disneyworld or Disneyland they also have a pretty dam good pineapple dole whip!

Flavor options...

Take a drive to the best place in CT for ice cream!! Their variety of flavors really has something for everyone. Yeah, the line may be long sometimes but their workers are the best!! You won't regret going...and their prices are very good too.

Dairy Cream is still hands down the best ice cream to me in this area. Normally I would order the hard ice cream. This time I was a dare devil and decided to order the soft serve with the flavor burst. I've always seen others order this and kept saying to myself that looks cool. How do they make the swirls like that. Apparently it's part of the soft serve machine. I believe I got the strawberry flavor burst and oh my gosh. It was so good. The soft serve is so creamy. And the added strawberry flavor was just the cherry on top. I'll be back for sure to try the other flavors they have. If your one of those people that always orders the same thing when you go. I suggest to be a little daring and try something different. You might actually be surprised. I sure was.

Grasshopper hard ice cream in a dish.

The Grasshopper hard ice cream was way below standard. Not creamy. Seemed crystallized inside. The server couldn't even get it to stay together in a cone and had to put it in a dish. It fell apart as I ate it with a spoon. Flavor was blah! They used to serve UConn Dairy ice cream here years ago, but not anymore. Need to bring that back. They won't be serving me here anymore either.

Perfect night for an iced cream! Everyone else had the idea too. Line was at least 12 people deep. Did not take long to get my turn. The crew working was fast, efficient and polite. The young lady who helped me was obviously a veteran at this place. Having multiple windows taking orders.... Why don't more places do this? I'm in the area for business from the Chicago area, if I ever come back, I'll be a customer again.

Dairy Cream has been a fixture in northern Windsor Locks for decades. They are seasonal, opening each year in early to mid-March, closing around mid-October. As today was close to 70, it drew me in like a moth to a candle (or a mosquito to my neck). They have a ginormous variety of ice cream (soft serve and hard), and frozen yogurts. Numerous flavors for frozen yogurt and soft serve, and flavors of the day. And they have numerous products.... sundaes, shakes, cones, cups, flurries, blizzards, yada yada yada. I opted for a Heath bar flurry with vanilla soft serve - medium. Reasonable at $5.75 plus tax. It was soooooooo awesome. Plenty of parking, and numerous picnic tables. They also have 3 windows for customers, which are all staffed on weekends and prime times. Well run, they def have their act together. Service and products are all excellent! Best, by far, in the area.

THE. BEST. SOFT SERVE. PERIOD. Never icy, always smooth smooth smooth and so creamy. We go here at least once a week (okay, definitely at least twice). We generally always get soft serve but have tried their sundaes, hard ice cream as well. Sometimes you can even catch planes landing or taking off at Bradley which is always fun when you have a young child. My son loves coming here and sitting in the trunk of our SUV to catch some planes. It's one of my favorite things to do with him. Service is fast and always friendly. Everyone is smiling even when the line wraps around the building (usually after dinner in the evenings, but the line moves fast). One of our weekly staples, I recommend it to everyone. Definitely check it out if you're in the area. Or even if you aren't, just come !

Small ice-cream stand by Bradley airport that has a very nostalgic feel to it, which makes sense since they have been around since 1954. The stand has a wide variety of ice cream treats, and they utilize both soft serve and hard ice cream. They have both traditional and a ton of unique flavors for both their soft-serve and their hard ice cream. Additionally, they have ice-cream floats, milkshakes, sundaes, flurries (candy mix-ins), Italian ice, and some take-home options. They also sell hot dogs, chili dogs, chips and soft drinks. You order from an outside window, and they have their menu plastered across the outside wall. As far as seating goes...they have picnic benches throughout the parking lot I got one of their unique ice-cream flavors, which consisted of a vanilla base and a ton of candy mix-in's, inside of a waffle cone. The ice cream consistency was solid, and the flavor was fantastic. The ice cream cone was solid as well. I couldn't tell if it was home-made or not 7/10

Oh what a day! And what could make this day any betterlicius? Easy, a stop at Dairy Cream! We brought Oma & Opa for a well deserved dairy treat. They've recently been house bound and were grateful for a road trip to the store and frozen concoction. Oma a vanilla/peanut butter twist, Mama Bear a vanilla/chocolate twist, Opa & this Papa Bear each had a root beer float with a hard scoop of vanilla. We hit another common bond! The grand Root Beer Float!!! There's no other Float in our Parade!

Dairy Cream is so good and honestly worth trying out whenever you're in the Windsor area! I appreciate all places that offer non-dairy options. Honestly, I always risk it being lactose intolerant but when a place has nondairy ice cream as good as their full on dairy ice cream? A big heck yeah from me! It was my first time trying the pineapple dole soft serve and it was refreshing on such a humid day! My partner got the peach and vanilla twist. It was subtle but was basically peaches and cream. This is such a great joint which is no wonder there's always a line - but no worries! The line always goes quickly! The workers there are always so upbeat and so kind. I highly recommend Dairy Cream!

Always a great authentic Mexican experience here. I personally like the bar seats for dine in, but…read morethe booths are fine. Bartenders are friendly and attentive. Ignore that this used to be a Friendly's, because inside it feels like a true Mexican restaurant. Great food, and an awesome house hot sauce. Queso is equally banging. Come hungry because you will leave with a ton of leftovers if not. Portions are great. Whether you're a traveler stopping for some food, or local, this is my go to Mexican by far in hartford county.

Still good, still pricy, still great staff…read more Came here as our "barometer" meal. One to compare to our travels to Mexico and to mazatlan itself. Server was very friendly, we ordered tacos, enchiladas, and grilled shrimp. While waiting, a roving mariachi band serenaded each table. The rendition of baby shark was a highlight of their particular set. The food was well cooked, tasty, and plentiful in portion. None of the bites in question felt underseasoned, rice and beans were not bland , and the birra tacos were great with jus. The issue is pricing. It's pricy for what you get. Very little is under 20 dollars with many plates going 25 or more. It's good food, but that quality doesn't match up to the price you pay. Given that it's close to the airport, airport pricing is to be expected. That's just my biggest gripe. Besides the price, it's very acceptable Mexican fare and you'll be heavy in stomach but light in wallet. A good option for famished travelers who want to splurge

This is my first time here! The restaurant is located at 50 Ella T. Grasso Tpke, Rte 75, Windsor…read moreLocks, CT. This is a 50's diner. I like the music. The decor is all 50's from the chairs, walls, food, etc. Here's their story: "September 11th 2001 changed my life forever. After 19 years as a flight attendant, I decided it was time for a change. Thanks to my dearest mentor and friend, my dreams have come true. Actually, this all dates back to the year of 1952. My friend had a wish, too! Naif Makol, Jr. loved to eat his burgers when he was only knee high to a grasshopper, at which time, he asked his daddy if he would buy him a hamburger store. "Bah" astonishingly honored his son's request, and the family was in Burger Business. We dedicate the vision behind our concept to an exceptional man, Naif George Makol, Sr., without whose foresight and extraordinary business sense this could have not been possible. Our country was a great place to live in back in the 1950's American families enjoyed simple pleasures like drive-in movies, cruise nights, and car hops. Much has changed today except the memories of a time gone by. Naif Jr. has never let those joyous memories fade so in saying that here we are today. Naif and I wanted to create a place representative of a time when families gathered together listening to Dion or little Richard on the radio or cruising into their favorite soda shop for burgers or dogs. Skooter's took on a life of its own once we collaborated about the open kitchen concept and sit-down counter service. We've created a warm, family atmosphere which we hope you will enjoy. Our goal as proprietors is to provide you quick in-and-out service in an upbeat, happy environment at an affordable price. We want to be your home away from home. With Jonathan Karas as a key part of our family and the central force of our operations, I'm sure you will enjoy what he has to bring to the table (pun intended). We hope you delight in the simplicity and of course the great tasting yummy food." For my drink, I'm having a black coffee. It's my first caffeinated drink in a long time (no decaf available). I'd have a milkshake, but they're extremely heavy. Ah! REAL coffee! For my soup, it's Sausage, Pepper and Onion. Rice too I see. It's very good! An unusual soup, I'm also trying the chili. This is good! I got the last of it! Peppers is an odd ingredient. I can't leave here without trying a hot dog (Frankfurter) with sauerkraut. This is good! I liked the buttered bun. No shortage of sauerkraut. For my entree, I'm having a Grilled Lemon Chicken sandwich. This is really good! Notice the square lettuce leaves. For dessert, I'm having a slice of blueberry pie. This is a HUGE piece of pie! It's nice and chilled. I haven't had this in decades! It's delicious! What a great meal here! Those onion rings are freshly battered and are huge! One of them was 4 inches across! Oh yeah! This is great!

The hustle and bustle of serving the food quickly and hot is fun. Not to mention watching everything being put together. I had not eaten here in over 20 years, and tonight it most like gets put back on my rotation. The hamburger was the hand packed one (the only way to go) with bacon, and it was cooked perfectly. The fries too were excellent- I assume all fried food here will be good. The hot dog (Blue Seal brand) was good. I got it with chili and cheese. What threw me off was it was actually chili with beans, normally CT dogs are more a meat sauce. Anyway, it was enjoyable. The New England style hot dog roll was the disappointment, it didn't add to the flavor. (If there was a Dave Portnoy of hot dogs, the better rolls would be 'Texas toast-like'). We sat at the stools at the counter which was fun. This place isn't trying to be a '50s diner, it is one!
