Dairy Land is a place to go if and when you are feeling nostalgic, when a fancy burger joint just won't do. I can picture it on triple D one day if Fiore still visited dives. That is a compliment. The food is not the standout here, the small town ambiance is. Kind of friendly workers serve kind of good burgers at really good prices should make this place rate 3 stars. Again it is the setting that bumps it to 5. The picnic tables outside, the way you have to walk through the kitchen to order. The intercom system and the lights outside and the gravel parking lot throw back to the 50's. read more

First timer. My husband got the tortilla burger as its been recommended here often. Problem was--there was no tortilla. The patty came on a hard taco shell. Add to that it was a stale hard shell. It sucked. How hard would it have been to say 'Im sorry. We're out of tortillas today. Spin again." The tots were way overdone. In short, he suggested a 1-2 star review. Now my meal of patty melt and fries was excellent. The texas toast was buttered and grilled perfectly making the cheese melty with a goodly amount of grilled onions. They didnt skimp on the amount of fries. Although i like skinny fries best, these were real tasty. With my urging, we're going to try one more visit. Heres hoping for a better outcome. read more

We were in the mood for burgers so we wanted to try this place out. We've lived in Alvin for over 7 months now and this was our first time trying Dairyland. I had heard good things from a friend. So we placed an order to go. I wanted to order a Tortilla Burger. My friend said it was really good. I assumed it was on a fresh, warm FLOUR TORTILLA. Nope. The burger patty was on flat, crunchy tostadas! I was so not expecting that. It was weird. Every time I took a bite, stuff fell out of it. I think a tortilla burger is a great idea but this wasn't executed well. It was a mess. My husband ordered a cheeseburger. He said the burger tasted good but it was too small. He will probably order a double next time so it will fill him up. The fries were very basic crinkle fries. Nothing special. We want to try the onion rings and tater tots next time. He wanted dessert so he ordered the Cherry Pie Eggrolls. I tasted one. I don't like cherries but it wasn't bad. It's basically fried cherry pie sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. My first impression was not that great but we'd be willing to go back to try other items on the menu. read more

I wanted to give 3 1/2 stars but my hubby wants to give them a 4. The food tasted good but when they toasted the bun on my burger, they burned it. Don't order curly fries. Ours were half moon fries. Granted they were curved but not curly. We did have one curly one so we split it. read more

Love the burgers here, it's nice to sit outside and dine watching the traffic go by. Good hot dogs too. Love the 50's feel of the place.

This is a classic place to get a burger and fries. Everything is made as ordered and fresh. It's one of the few places you can get poutine, or gravy fries, in Texas. While the toys, fries, onion rings and Burgers made be great, their ice cream is even better. No add water mixes here. They have a freezer with Blue Bell ice cream. Yo can get amazing milkshakes, fantastic floats, hot fudge sundaes or even a hand dipped cone. While they don't have any indoor seating or a drive thru, the outside seating has 11 benches under a covered platform with music playing all the time. Be sure to check on this awesome place for lunch or dinner. Just be sure to bring a coat if it's cold outside. read more

Alvin staple was a let down for my family tonight on the burger side of things. First time there, and mine and my husbands patties were so burnt we couldn't even eat it. Now I liked the onion rings and when I went to take the burgers back they where nice about it and offered to remake. I declined that option not only because the patty was so burnt that it was hard as a rock but the size and shape was a total turn off three stars for the onion rings and the service was pretty good. Wont be coming back and would have a hard time recommending. read more

Traces of Texas Facebook page posted a photo of food from this place. We live nearby so I thought I'd give it a try. I didn't even know it was there. My husband went over there to get burgers to go. Yummy! We both had cheeseburgers, and they were excellent. They had great flavor and tasted flame broiled. We tried the curly and crinkle fries, and the onion rings, and loved all 3. For 3 burgers, and fries/onion rings, it was $21. I thought that was reasonable. The portions of fries and onion rings was generous, and the burgers were large. I just wish there had been a way to look at their menu online. read more

The overall Yelp rating of this place is 3.5 at the time of this review and I think that is pretty spot on. Unfortunately Yelp doesn't allow you to rate with a decimal system so I struggled to rate this a 3 or a 4. That being said I decided to go with the latter because I really enjoyed the regular cheeseburger. I also had a tortilla burger which I will omit from this review. If I rated that I would probably be in the 2 or 3 area. The marriage of two round hard shells with burger ingredients needs a divorce right now. If you would like to see my Youtube video review of this my channel name is Dvdeez Nuts & Popcorn. For some reason they threw in 3 shells which I assume was a mistake. There is no drive thru here nor interior seating but they do have outside seating. I'm not 100% sure if this would be considered fast food but I'm gonna assume it is and rate it as so. In my opinion Whataburger is the gold standard when it comes to fast food burgers and their regular cheeseburger had some similarities to it. The pickle to onion and tomato ratio was pretty spot on to Whataburger. I even thought the patty had a slight tinge of the same seasoning or flavor. It's not as large as a Whataburger but it's a good tasting burger. The fries were crinkle fries and honestly they tasted like fries I've had at a family bar-b-cue a thousand times. They were just ok. Would I drive 15 miles to Alvin to eat here again, no. Would I eat here again if I was in the area, yes. On a side note I heard their milk shakes are awesome so I will try that next time. They get their burger meat from a place called Stanton Meat Market. No processed meat here. read more

We visited Dairy Land for the first time last night while attending our TX Classics meet. We arrived with a large group of hungry people and the service was quick and friendly. Everything was made to order & served up hot & fresh. I ordered the tortilla burger & friend pickles and my husband ordered the corn dogs. Our food was absolutely delicious. We topped off our meal with their apple & cherry egg rolls with ice cream which was also made to order & super yummy! This classic little outdoor diner didn't disappoint. This is a great burger place. We tried the Tortilla burger and the Phema Char Burger. The tortilla burger is two crunchy corn tortillas for the buns. Other than it being dry because of no sauce, we ordered the Char Sauce on the side which made it more complete. The Phema Char Burger was perfect just the way it was delivered. I went through about 4 napkins because it was elbow dripping good. It was so yummy. And I love crunchy ice, theirs was better than sonics! Tasted clean and perfectly absorbed my Dr Pepper! read more

This place isn't what it used to be under new ownership. I've known the owners for many, many years. I am disappointed in what this place has become. I came here all the time growing up. So did my dad, my grandparents, and my great grandparents. I no longer live in Alvin and was visiting for a few days when we decided to order Dairy Land for dinner. We waited 25 minutes for our order. Now, I know they aren't always the fastest but it was extremely frustrating to sit in the car and watch three employees stand in a circle talking and laughing. Even dancing around together at some points. Finally went in to ask when our order would be ready and got lip from a young female employee. Our meal was cold. Fries inedible. Patties too small for the buns. Soggy buns. So, we called in to see what could be done to right the wrong and not only did their employee(s) raise their voice, they became extremely combative instead of owning that they provided poor service and food. Learn to accept responsibility for your actions, kids. It's a virtue that will help you all throughout life. I guess when ownership hires a bunch of high schoolers, you get high school service. This place could be so much better if the people who run it hired better cashiers to take orders. I've been here three times and get really irritated by how slow and reluctant their cashier is. She doesn't say hello.. quite frankly she just stares at you and waits for you to order. Pretty awkward. Every time I have been, there is no line infeont of me and I get to place my order quickly (it has only been desserts so far). There always becomes a line after I order, and my dessert takes up 15 minutes to come out. How hard is it to make some fried? No common sense skills as to how to handle clientele and orders. This has honestly driven me away from taking a 30 minute drive out to Alan. On a better note, the stuff they make tastes good that I've had. Their are fried Oreos and their brownie Sunday good. Do not get the chocolate nut Sunday. All it is, is a few peanuts and a scoop of chocolate. I give this place two stars because of how this place is managed. read more

On my way home from dinner I saw this place. Wanted ice-cream for dessert. When I see dairy land I conjure up thoughts of ice-cream. The place reminds me of when I was a kid they had walk up ice-cream places all over. So as I got up to the window I was sorely disappointed. They did have "some"ice-cream but it was all hard packed bluebell. There wasn't any soft serve. I was about 4th in line and after standing there around 10 minutes to place my order any not moving. The teenagers that work there are to busy to even take down the order right. The cashier was new and had no idea what she was doing & the rest of the staff were just standing around laughing. I had to wait about 20 min for my food and I was the only one there just ridiculous!! And then the charged me $8.50 for a meal and wouldn't give me a drink. When I mentioned it they said sorry the cashier is new and didn't charge you for a drink. You got to be kidding me... just a horrible place don't go here!!! Not worth it to way to overpriced for a dry burger. read more
