HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! We ordered dinner and they forgot a majority of our meal. So like anyone would do, we went inside to get the rest of our food since we still had our recipe. When we were in there we overheard the high schoolers that work there playing rock, paper, scissors to figure out who would "deal with the customers". We also overheard them laughing while instructing each other on how to mess up orders such as "leave that out" and "put it in anyway". This is extremely rude, gross, and unprofessional. Updated review after 4 years: This DQ has gone down hill. The staff don't seem to give a damn and every time I come here they forget multiple things in my order. Not only that but the fries are stale and usually cold. I don't know what changed in the last 4 years but if you want DQ go to the other one. read more

*Updated - I go here a LOT (an Olympia too), generally the best DQ in the state when it comes to pouring LARGE sundaes (most are starting to skimp on filling the base of the bowl and doing the 3 bumps and 1 swirl for a large, at the price its really becoming a rip off for soft serve when other restaurants offer it for $1, I guess DQ has cornered the market because McDonalds can't keep their ice cream machines working, but that's another issue entirely lol) Anyway, I ordered some food, a couple plain sundaes and a Peanut Buster Parfait and asked if I could substitute the peanuts for caramel sauce as I can't digest peanuts properly. The girl on the mic said, it will be an extra charge. I asked why as I'm substituting not asking for extra. She said its because its a different topping, I then asked, if you substitute pepperoni on a pizza for sausage it doesn't instigate a new charge because its a substitution. She wasn't hearing it and gave me the canned excuse of "I don't make the rules". So I said, OK and pulled forward. When I pull forward, I'm given my receipt to show that they charged me for 3 individual caramel squirts of $0.90 each!!!! So they still made money on the fact that I didn't order peanuts (which for arguments sake are more expensive than caramel) and charged me for the 3 caramel squirts (totaling $2.80), but didn't give me back the cost of 3 layers of peanuts which by policy would probably be $0.90 each layer), not to mention the topping saved by ordering PLAIN sundaes (another $1.80 credit pending), they've already saved money on the sundae toppings and peanuts (maybe I should have ordered caramel on the sundaes but asked to put them on the Parfait, or maybe that is too much information for them to process, see I can attempt to nickel and dime you too... anyway...). I questioned it, she said, "Well, I told you over the speaker", I then replied, I apologize I am hard of hearing and didn't hear that. At that point the drive thru window was surrounded by 2 additional employees coming to this girl's defense and attempting to "attack me", one of them was a larger girl with the WORST attitude and customer services I've ever experienced. They said, we don't make the policies, and she didn't do anything wrong, I said, "I understand that but do you understand my point of view and frustration and see my logic?" At that point the largest gal didn't want to hear any more from me, she pointed at the number on the window and said, "if you have a problem you can call this number" (which I called, left 2 messages, and got no response). I said "Oh... I will call that number, but I'm trying to understand the logic here", and she then said, "do you want it or not!" Very abruptly. I said, "Yes I do, but this is ridiculous" So they started to hand me stuff, the parfait was dripping and I asked, "can I get a cup since this is dripping or are you going to charge me for it too?" One last plea I asked that girl, "I apologize for snapping at you, you're good, you guys are usually awesome and I know its not you, the charges just caught me by surprise" She had a little glassy eyed (I know I upset her, and I feel bad, she's just a kid and I wasn't fair in attacking her), and I think I got a little smile so that's good, but I added, "I just want to hope you see my side, and maybe talk to managers that this isn't good" At that point the larger gal stormed over through the whole kitchen so quickly I thought she was going to bust through the window like the Kool-Aid Man and pummel me, she basically, came halfway out the window pushing the little girl aside, and basically yelled at me for "attacking" the girl again. I wasn't even upset in that last interaction as I had to move on. After the visit I left 2 voicemails I was more upset about the hidden charges for substitutions (NOT EXTRA), as the days have gone by I am no longer thinking of those other 2 ladies as protecting the pack especially the bigger one, but also attacking me and not willing to work with me to alert management to policies that are not in the best interest of the customer. Back on topic, regarding the hidden charges, this is the most ridiculous business practice that I've ever heard of, as I stated above, This solution should not have an additional charge. This is a horrible business model and a way to fleece your customers by nickel and diming them. If its too expensive to pay employees a fair wage and set accurate prices and policies, you should not be in business. You should be allowed to do like for like substitutions without incurring additional charges. And that doesn't even get into if I don't want a item on one things, but put it on the other, that too can be a substitutions if you want to go there... Especially something so menial as substituting a sauce for a physical item, especially in this world with advanced health problems and allergies. I used to get only the chicken strip basket whenever I would go to a Dairy Queen, but for the past many years it has begun to taste cheaper and cheaper. I miss when you could actually see the butter on the toast, when the chicken strips weren't flat, and the fries weren't a single soggy potato nest. Why 4 stars though? The burgers. I don't know how, but they manage to make, in my opinion, the best nationwide fast food chain burgers. And I'm only counting ones that are literally all over the country, not like Sam's that has like 10 places around Nashville or something. The burgers have actual char on them and it's great. The ice cream is great, and if you are only coming for that, it's hard to go wrong. I have yet to catch someone not doing the Blizzard flip in my just over 2 decades of going there. One of you has to slip up one day, and when that happens... I probably won't ask for a free Blizzard because that seems rude. Give them a break! Fast food work is hard! Night manager is unprofessional and rude. Her drive throu employee took our order wrong when brought to her attention she had a attitude and told us we ordered wrong. She was rude and was yelling at my husband, not even letting him talk. I have never seen such disrespect from a manager. I tried to explain to her as well and she talked over me as well... did I cuss at her at that point.. yes I did, I had had enough, she then found out they did mess up our order but still did not apologize, instead she said we could just pay for what we wanted, not give us the money back for what we didn't want.. Got three combo meals and when one of them was missing and my sister had to turn around and go back in the drive thru the guy in the drive through was staring at her like she was dumb and then when she got the meal and left she got home and noticed that two of the chicken strip baskets didn't have the right amount of chicken strips. A+ We stopped on our way to the beach over spring break for a quick bite, yum! We ordered at the drive-through, the staff was wonderful! Our cashier was friendly and helpful, even with several cars behind us. The food/drinks came out fast! Everything was there even the sauces! What should be hot/cold was hot/cold! The food looked great, our chicken/fries were golden brown and hot! The "treats" were ice-cold and artfully made. We received a good number of napkins. The stores inside and outside areas were all very tidy and well kept. We did go inside to use their clean bathroom before we left. We have been coming here for many years and have never had an issue. The ladies working today at 2pm were terrible. We were asked to park, which is never an issue for us. We understand you get busy. But we waited 20 minutes and watched people who were parked after us receive their food so then we asked about ours and were treated very rudley and then we finally get the food and all of the chicken strips are torn into pieces. We have eaten here many times and never received our food in this condition. I think someone has some anger issues that need to be worked out elsewhere. read more

I am glad they reopened. This one is nice for a DQ and the personnel are very friendly. I just miss the Chocolate Covered Cherry Blizzard that they use to have but decided to cancel. Not much you can say since it is a DQ and we only come for ice cream. read more

On our way home from a hearbreaking football loss, I decided to freeze my sorrows with a Tag-A-Long Blizzard. For those who haven't tried one, the soft serve is flavored with peanut butter syrup, and those delicious Girl Scout peanut butter patty cookies are blended in. Yummy, right? People were getting mad at us for blocking doorway which is inches from counter. Employees only help one customer at a single time with only one register open although 7 employees behind counter. Ordered 15 dollars of blizzards. Employee could not take order correctly even after asked several times to make sure it's correct before making it. After waiting over fifteen minutes for four small specific treats, half of them were melted in the hot muggy restaurant before ever leaving the doors to enjoy. Employees did not want to refund money back for trash they made melting and pouring out everywhere. I was not planning to come here today, but I had an hour to kill before an afternoon appointment. Ok, I hadn't been to a Dairy Queen in ages. The inside is like a cute retro 50's diner. Although they have a drive-thru, I used the walk in. Oh wow, they have a waffle cone Sundae! I decided to try that, thinking it would be "environmental" (translation: Since it's served in a waffle cone, they wouldn't need to again place it in a disposable container). I was wrong about the "environmental" thing. They still served it in a disposable plastic container. Maybe it's a hygienic thing. But why can they serve you ice cream cones without disposable containers, but not the waffle cone Sundae? Ok, maybe it's because I ate it "in" (meaning, at a table). Ok, I guess that works. Oh, the employee behind the counter: When I placed my order, she made some "clarifying" comments. I thought they were helpful and not designed as "traps" to get you to spend more money. (see my review of another well-known fast food place where they let you "have it your way"). On the other hand, when I ordered the waffle cone Sundae, she did act like she hadn't heard of it and didn't know it was on the menu....... until I pointed it out...... But I give her a thumbs up for making "clarifying" comments and not "traps to extract more money out of me." If you come here in an RV, you would have to park nearby at Wal-Mart, Staples, or Top Foods and walk over. I came here in a car. UPDATE: I came here again in Feb 2015. I wanted to get some sort of ice cream dish, but saw the Chicken Strips on the menu and though that sounded good. It was on special today, only $4.99 (without drink). I ordered it. Typical fast food, wasn't the best or worst I had ever had. BUT, the dipping sauce! That was wonderful! For a fast food place, I'm surprised at how good the dipping sauce was! It was a white sauce type gravy, and it was warm. It tasted like it was freshly made from fresh stuff. It didn't have that "chemical, who knows when they made it" taste. Worst dirty restaurant ever! We rolled thru on a Friday evening on our way to Ocean Shores and it was filthy, we ate...yuck. Then we forgot our sundaes after we ate our meals, so we stopped in Sunday afternoon with our receipt. She made us write down the coorporate office number to see if they could help us. After working here for 4 years I can honestly say it is one of the cleanest restaurants with the best fast food in Aberdeen. The managers are always making sure the store stays clean and takes pride in great customer service. A great place to work and a great place to eat! read more
