First off amazing people here, great vibes and servers. The food was tasty and made well. One thing I must add is that they still had a very affordable pricing. Overtime I got used to paying $30 for some stuffed crab and fries,m or $15 for some po-boys but this place had better quality and the prices were much more reasonable. read more

Normally this is one of my favorite places....not lately. Food is overly greasy. Fries under cooked. Chicken tender batter didn't have any seasoning... and to get home and not have everything. Defeats the purpose of eating out if you have to make stuff at home to go with it. If you're out of something, simply tell the customer and offer something else. Even my toast was a hamburger bun soaked in either butter or grease. Either way I wouldn't even feed it to my dog. read more

Food was disgusting, the server was very rude and told me I had to pay for the food bc they didn't do anything wrong, I could see the worker at the front talking about me and making rude faces I am a manager as well so I know how these things work I offered to pay for the things I ate and she rolled her eyes and walked away. On a Monday we stopped at this quaint restaurant to explore. The restaurant's name "Mama's Kitchen" certainly evokes home cooking which it was. Service and food were great. Ambiance is nice and rustic. I had the Meat Loaf special and in addition to the two sides (mashed potatoes & corn), I ordered a ration of fried okra which was well prepared. My wife had oatmeal and a single huge pancake she liked both very much. We plan to return to taste other specials. The dishes there are large portions with each dish as good as could be. Served by friendly staff every time. I have been coming here for four years and I have never been disappointed. Needed a place to eat AND a -lace to park the Kraken. Not to many places q\have parking for a 40 ft trailer, but Mama's does! Oh what to eat? O was hungry for a burger and I've got issues with peppers. You, can't turn em down, so the heater cheese burger seemed to fit the bill - with jalapeños - heck yea!!! Oh. And for the side - gonna upgrade to the healthy option - onion rings! Hey - onions are vegetables, and oh were they delicious.! Not,the store bought kind but those fresh home,add rings made just right! Now to that burger. Hmmmm. Just gonna have to,wait a spell Ok, elbows dried and let me just say that jalapeño bun. I recently had a rather unpleasant lunch here around 2 pm on a Monday. It seems that the waitstaff takes breaks leaving one waitress to run the afternoon rush by herself. One person to take orders, serve food, and run the register. They seem to handle a lot of to go orders during the afternoon. Plan on dining before 2 pm. Although this place does fried food really well , it was a hot day and I decided to try the large taco salad; I thought about cool lettuce and tomatoes mixed with beef and shredded cheese. What I got was a large plate covered with chopped tomatoes, unseasoned ground beef, some cheese, LOTS of tortilla chips, and barely a 1/4 cup of lettuce! The pecante sauce that accompanied the meal was actually 2 plastic packets like you get at Taco Bell. At least the A/C was working that day and I could eat in relative comfort. read more

I have been going to Mamas kitchen for years. In the last year the service and food has went way down hill. You should not have to wait 45mins to an hour for your food. The wait staff always has some kind of excuse to why we have to wait so long for our food. The food is horrible and honestly if I was the owner I would be ashamed to even serve the food. We have given Mamas kitchen the benefit of doubt but not anymore. We will not be back. read more

While in the area, I chose to stop in and try Mama's Kitchen, my decision, was based on Yelp reviews. I am glad I did. The place was busy and understaffed, as most places are today, but the way was well worth it. I had the two piece catfish dinner, fries, hushpuppies, and coleslaw. The two filets almost completed a whole fish. Good tasting. Try it out, I don't think you will be sorry. read more

Stopped by here for supper on our way to Cypress. The food & service were excellent. My husband got the large chicken fried steak, it was huge, basically 2 chicken fried steaks, he couldn't eat it all. I had the stuffed crab. Both of our meals were really good. If your a vegetarian they have several options listed on the menu. There is something for everyone. We will definitely be back next time we come this way. read more

Good food , fried food could be drained better a lot of grease makes it to your plate . Waitres's seem to forget a lot of stuff rather quickly 3 different waitres took my drink order before I got it . Prices a little high ordered Pork chop dinner got one very thin small pork chop , had just read a review of another diner that described his pork chop dinner as very large thick juicy pork chop made my mouth water , disappointed me . Seems a lot of places have closed making compition less for customers & restauraunt both . 3 stars . read more

Passing through an unfamiliar town and needed a place to eat. Since it's on the main road through town it was easy to find. Had the burger that comes with jalapeños and choice of fries the way you like, curly, home style, and regular. The burger was cooked well and delicious. The home style wedge fries was not so much. It looked and tasted like they were cooked earlier and reheated in the oil, really too brown and very greasy. Service was attentive with ice teas refilled often although it took 30 minutes from order time to get my two person table delivered even though the restaurant was not that busy. I think I will cut them slack as there seemed to be a few different to go orders being handled. All in all( it's worth another look see if I am ever in the area. read more

Came in after fishing one Saturday afternoon, it had a descent crowd. Split sections for smoking and non smoking so that was cool. Staff were pretty friendly and informative. The food however not so much. We had five people in our group, which ordered chicken fried chicken, 12oz sirloins, cowboy ribeye and chicken fried steak. They weren't really that appealing when it came out, I had the sirloin, and they gave u a descent thick cut. It was rather dry and hard to cut into. I was very disappointed had heard good reviews. Long story short I found a hair in my not so mashed potatoes and gravy. Luckily I had left the gravy off my steak so I was able to eat it since they did not even offer to comp the meal. Just took off the tea. When we checked out I ask if they have veterans discounts she said well that's what the tea was for I said no the tea was for the hair in my food. She did not want to give me the veterans discount. I told her I was not a happy customer at this point do what you feel is right. So she did not charge us for the two pieces of frozen pie (not homemade like we hoped). I think there was a red flag. When we came in there was a table that had not been bussed. All four plates were hardly touched. Did they find a hair also? Made me wonder. She was so quick to say there was not much she could do. I could not believe they did not comp our meal. Does this happen often, probably since no one had hair nets on. Oh also had a special on club sandwich and fries that was higher than the price on the menu! We won't be back! read more

Excellent customer service, great food. I would give 5 stars, but they only had wheat toast. Had they mentioned this before we ordered, that would have been expected. However it was a surprise when they brought our food. They did offer cornbread to replace the wheat toast. Smothered pork chop was excellent, as was the chicken Fried Steak. Green beans, mashed Potatoes and gravy were also awesome. read more

3 of us went for lunch April 7th The place was full. the ambiance was awful. The table was dirty. We ordered in a reasonable time and then waited for an hour. Other patrons started walking out after they too had waited an hour. People who came in later were getting their food. Finally after 1hr and 15 minutes we were served. One hamburger was burnt all the way through. Not edible. My fried chicken sandwich and onion rings were edible, but low quality, and the patty melt was very dry. If you are looking for good home cooking and decent service avoid this place. There are better restaurants down the road. read more

My husband flagged down another waitress after we had been sitting there for 15 minutes without any water or drinks. We also had to flag her down for the check. Considering the price tag for the night, I expected the service to be better.
