I arrived before the lunch crowd. Waitress quickly came over and took my order. I had the chicken fried steak with grilled onions and gravy, fried okra and mashed potatoes. All were excellent. Also at a very reasonable price at today's market. It was a very pleasant atmosphere. I will be going back soon, and try one of their daily lunch specials. read more

It's a good cafe. It's the usual hometown/regional foods that anyone with a stomach will enjoy. My family and I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Sandwhiches with sides of our choosing. The Chicken Fried Steak part of the sandwhich had almost no seasoning and I liberally added pepper and salt which improved it immensely. The sides aren't included with the sandwhiches which is a bit of a let down but not overly so. I ordered the onions rings which had a wonderfully crackly batter. The perfect kind. The other sides were fried squash and French fries. The service was on the slow side but it was also busy and it's a mom/pop cafe which is to be expected. Great food in a small town that's absolutely worth the drive. We went for a drive in my car after finishing updates on it. Got hungry and decided to Yelp for a place to eat. Hung a right off 71 and rolled into town. Fresh patty that was cooked perfectly. Onion rings and cheese sticks were breaded in house. Food was outstanding. Kinda busy for a late Saturday lunch but the staff was great and took care of us. Here's a hint- at the register is a sign for restrooms! Great small town cafe with fresh food! First time going there and I am so impressed! Too bad I didn't get a picture of my chicken fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes (real) and fried squash! Found ourselves passing by Orsak's around dinnertime. My dining partners had ate there previously and suggested we stop in. While we were there, several people came in to eat and several more stopped by to pick up orders. I would not describe it as "busy". Staff appeared to have significant downtime during our visit but didn't use it to engage guests or do anything resembling work. The menu had plenty of choices, making it easy for everyone in our party to find something to order. A chicken special was ordered by a couple of my dining partners and I had the chicken fried pork chops. I think there was a good serving size offered; however, the meal was just okay. My pork chops didn't have a lot of flavor and my mash potatoes were warm, not hot (just cool enough to be annoying but not cold enough to complain). I really did like their ice tea and on the one check of our table, scored a refill. I always hate Yelp's scoring system; wanting to give the cafe at least a 3.5 but not willing to give 4 stars. I always have issues with small town restaurants who want and need business but don't bring their "A" game all the time. I'd probably give another restaurant a shot if I found myself passing through a second time. read more

Small diner/cafe with huge burgers, tasty stew and daily specials. Good selection of desserts and many Blue Bell flavors. I stopped in after a bike ride and tried the chili stew. The stew was very tasty...basically a chili-flavored beef stew with ground beef and big chunks of potatoes and carrots. It was different and delicious. The waitress says it is a local favorite. I ordered the vegetable side of the day, which was a cup of canned peas. They were ok, but I prefer fresh or frozen peas over the mushy canned ones. As I sat on a stool at the counter, the guy to my left ordered the daily special: roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy. It looked good and he appeared to enjoy it. To my right, a couple split one of the huge "build your own" burgers. They looked tasty and I may have to try one on my next visit. Orsak's also offers various soups, salads, chicken, steak, and seafood. In front of me on the counter were some brownies that looked really, really good. They were sitting next to a baking pan and appeared to be freshly made and just taken out of the pan. These monster-sized brownies are about three inches tall and are served with a scoop of Blue Bell ice cream. Speaking of Blue Bell, there are about ten different flavors on the menu. Worth a stop if you are in the area. Prices are good, but service was small-town slow. Very relaxed atmosphere, though. read more

Growing up in the 90's/00s in Fayette county, one of my best memories was my parents taking us to eat at Orsaks. Fast forward a couple decades, and how far it has fallen. Unless my visit was a fluke, i was absolutely appalled at the quality of food and lack of service we received. We came in a lo little after 8 PM on a Thursday, and there was only one other couple in the entire restaurant, but several staff sitting inland talking. We were finally helped, I ordered a platter of catfish, shrimp and deviled crabs, and my friend ordered chicken fried chicken. My catfish was absolutely disgusting, it had that slimy feel/taste under the breading. The shrimp tasted of unchanged grease, the crabs were ok, but I was so turned off by that point, I couldn't really enjoy it. My friends chicken was ok, but lacked any semblance of seasoning and it tasted fishy, like it too had been cooked in the old fryer grease. To say the trip was disappointing was a understatement. Hopefully the venue gets its problems addressed, but as it was, I could only say I would recommend avoiding till it does. read more

ORSUCKS- Worst dining experience in memory. It took 45 minutes to receive one cup of cold potato soup that smelled and tasted like Veg-all canned vegetables, and an inedible bowl of chili that was nothing but old hamburger meat floating in grease. Literally. We also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich that had kraft singles that were not even melted. Cannot understand how it can possibly take so long to scoop already prepared "food" into a bowl and make a grilled cheese sandwich. There were wait staff everywhere and it was as if we were entirely alone. It took 20 minutes to get our waters refilled while we were waiting for the meal we ordered. We stopped here on our way to Houston because it had great reviews, but were very disappointed. While we did have a wonderful, very attentive waitress, it took an hour to get our food from the kitchen, and the food itself was bland and greasy. The selection is minimal. The atmosphere was great, as it is clearly a local favorite, but the food itself was... not great. Let me amend; the food is bad. In addition, when I went to the bathroom, the toilet didn't allow toilet paper (must be thrown in the trash), the soap dispenser was broken (soap could be gotten from a ketchup bottle) and the charming wicker basket that contained toilet paper also housed three large, dead roaches. My brother-in-law got the double burger that he almost had to unhinge his jaw to eat. I went with the country fried steak and mashed potatoes and was not let down.
