I tend to be kind of hit-and-miss when it comes to Dairy Queen's food selections, though while I was out running errands today I was in the mood for some ice cream. So, I stopped in to this Cumberland location of Dairy Queen Grill & Chill. This is an odd location with a few closed businesses and a vacant church across the street. However, i've always had a certain fondness for this DQ location despite the fact it's seen its better days. The parking lot has a handful of potholes - including one right as you turn in that will be a bit jarring if you don't see it. I do believe this is actually in Cumberland - so, technically, no Indy pothole jokes here. This location has both dine-in and drive-thru options. I hit the drive-thru, but then stuck around to actually eat my lunch. I snagged a $7 meal deal that included 3 chicken tenders, a small fries, a sundae, and a regular drink. You can upgrade to a small blizzard for $2 more. There aren't too many places you can eat for under a ten spot anymore - that's a definite plus. The service was solid. It wasn't anything remarkable, but the employee was friendly and timely. The food was solid. I always think it's weird to call a small dish of ice cream with a topping a "sundae," but I get the point and it is what I was craving. So, it was fine. I didn't see iced tea on the menu, a bit disappointing. Three Cumberland police officers were present. Business was steady throughout my visit. While this is Cumberland, it's really right on the line. I think right across the street is actually Indy. They do have accessible parking. Most DQ locations do accessibility fairly well. There's an outside dining option here, though it really wasn't warm enough today. I'm surprised I'd never reviewed this place. While I won't say I get here often, I often do stop in when I'm in the area. Overall, things were what I'd call "just fine." I'll definitely return - not because it's 5-star dining, but because it's a comfort spot with decent food at good prices and ice cream I get nostalgic for once in a while. read more

This location isn't worth going to. They got a bunch of young adults standing around just talking. It took 20 minutes to get a burger.

My dad and neighbor loves the place! They enjoy the food and convenience of the service and the hospitality provided. Location and inside eatery is comfortable. read more

DQ was my first job over 20yrs ago. I still can't get enough of this place. The price for a cone has almost doubled but it's still the same soft serve that I love. read more

Ordered a birthday cake online for my husband 5/5/25 to be picked up 5/10. Got a confirmation email. Went inside to pick up and pay 5/10, they couldn't find the cake. Employee tried to get manager to come speak with us, no one came out. After 20 or so minutes waiting, I finally picked a generic cake out of the freezer but i will NEVER get a cake from this place again. No apologies from them, nothing. read more

Thursday 7:15pm-7:48pm...my wait time to get to the window to get my order. I placed a Mobile Order at 7:26pm while I was in line, a large Oreo Blizzard & the $6 Chicken Tender Meal. I got to the window and had to wait until 7:50pm for the complete order. The food was okay, but had to be warmed up, because it was already cold when I got it. The staff was friendly. The food and service is lovely!! Dinner or lunch, both are wonderful. Loved the filet and the shrimp. Also great salad.

This place is always swamped at dinner time. I think they try their best to keep up. The food is always hot and delicious. The service is ok, could use some work. They aren't rude but not friendly either. Getting in and out of the drive thru is not easy. read more

I have to agree with fellow reviewers in that this Dairy Queen is very clean and well kept. Even the bathrooms are nicely done. It's attractive, fresh, and new looking.This may be one of the reasons the place stays so busy. The menu is typical of the chain as far as choices and the items we've had have been tasty. I did detract one star because the banana split we ordered was what I would consider flimsy. It was a little low on ice cream, it was skimpy on sauce, and even though we asked for whipped cream, nuts, and cherry, we only got whipped cream-no nuts and cherry. Also, the vanilla shake we had was not fully blended. It wasn't so much a shake but more like ice cream in a cup. I don't know if they are so busy that they are in too much of a hurry to make things properly, but it's showing in the end product. read more

Agree with Andrew M - this is one of the cleanest and friendliest DQ's in the area. It may take longer for your order because they are always busy even when it is frigid outside!! This again was a great outing for a group of senior citizens. We to eat here with 13 people and they had a great time and the food was great too. There was plenty of places to sit and plenty of room for my wheelchairs and walkers to sit and eat and move about. Parking lot was plenty bid for my bus to get around and park. The restaurant was clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful to all of my people. This is a great place to go to lunch. read more

This Dairy Queen is easily the beat fast food place on this side of town. The entire staff is always so polite and friendly. I love that fact that they have American flags (5 to be exact) posted by the entrance to the parking lot since we just celebrated Veterans Day. The employees working the drive through are so friendly. You don't feel like a burden when interacting with them. I will always come back to this Dairy Queen. read more

I disagree with the majority of reviewers here. I am a DQ blizzard addict, and have been to dozens of DQs in the Midwest. This is the best DQ I have ever been to, hands down. The service in the drive thru is top notch - the workers are clearly having fun and are very efficient. 90% of the time I get an overflowing cup when I order a medium blizzard. The interior is updated and super clean. There is also a nice area with a few tables to sit outside on a summer evening. Like another reviewer said, this DQ is right off of the Pennsy Trail (paved walking / biking trail). The trail is just to the North, behind Meijer. Look online for coupons. read more

This is the best DQ around. I always have great food and service. Some days they're really busy but I can understand that. Any time my order was messed up the manager was quick to fix it. Nice friendly people and clean. I wanted to write this review because I just was out of town and went to the one on Rockville road. Horrible. Made me literally sick. The chicken wraps were made w sour ranch, barley any lettuce or cheese. This DQ here always makes them so yummy and perfect and fresh. My only stop for now on even if I'm out of town I'll wait till I get back home. I'm happy to wait for my food here! read more

Spend near $40 on food and ice cream... Went through the drive thru, they hand out the ice cream first, then ask us to pull up and wait for the food. I appreciate fresh food, however, the ice cream was melted before even getting home due to the extensive wait for food. One would think to not give the ice cream until the food was done. You are supposed to be able to turn a blizzard upside down and not lose a drop. I haven't had one that could pass the test yet.
