A friend and I decided ice cream was in order on a warm Sunday afternoon and Dairy Queen was our final destination. We walked over to find a busy drive-thru but only two folks waiting for ice cream in front of us. Score! We placed our order, two reece's cup blizzards and two small cups for the doggies, and waited... Then, the entire neighborhood of Clintonville decided to show up too! This is typically fine but in the days of social distancing, it made me a little anxious. We had to wait quite a while and actually saw our treats sitting at the counter waiting to be handed to us for a hot second. I slowly made my way up to the counter (literally weaving through other patrons), and was given our cold treats with a smile. Our order was correct, tasty, and given the circumstances, the wait wasn't too bad and the service was friendly. Having extra grace for service workers these days is necessary. They're doing their very best and it was evident here.

As an OSU grad, this was my local Dairy Queen and I'm glad it's still here in the neighborhood now that I live in the area again. I'm glad there is some outdoor seating, it's nice and convenient off indianola.

This is a pretty good Dairy Queen. The drive-thru line wasn't too long when we arrived, but man did it get long right after we arrived. Make sure to plan ahead if you are going to do drive-thru on a weekend. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant and friendly. I asked the Oreo dirt pie blizzard, but instead of gummy worms I wanted cookie dough bits. They delivered and I was not disappointed :) They mixed the blizzard really well and absolutely loaded it up with goodies. This DQ gets my stamp of approval!

Only will eat at Dairy Queen for ice cream products. Wouldn't trust the food menu. Lady in front of me ordered $100 of food so I won't be too critical of the wait. Great banana split, blizzard good. Only knock is the location. Short, awkward drive thru is difficult to navigate. Exit turning left not friendly. Really like the walk up window in summer. Get to rub shoulders with the locals.

No one has reviewed DQ yet? Pssssh. Soft serve, I love you. This is my friendly neighborhood DQ, and sometimes, even though Jeni's is definitely my favourite ice cream, one just craves a chocolate/vanilla soft serve cone, what can I say? The boy and I come here fairly regularly for a small treat - and we always sit on the bench and eat our cones and get honked at by friends driving by on Indianola. (Another reason that Clintonville rules). Last time we were here, the owner of O'Reilly's was there with her grandkids and was like, "WTF guys, that's not beer!" HA. DQ in our hood isn't so much a chain (even though it obviously is) as it is a community meeting spot. I pretty much only get soft serve cones here, but yes I have tried the chili cheese dog and yes it is amazing (and worthy of several heart attacks). DQ is so freakin' American. What can you do? It's a little slice of sweet nostalgia, a true John Mellencamp song, the Midwest incarnate. I recommend coming here if you're feeling more low key than the (wonderful) culinary adventure that Jeni's is, or if you live in our hood and want to see what your neighbors are up to. Or if you, like me, really like soft serve. Whut!

Ordering carryout, I had been waiting for 45 minutes when I finally asked a staff member if my order was close to being ready. He said they were "just starting it". In total, I had to wait an hour for a carry out order. While I was waiting, another gentleman getting carry out said his order was all messed up when he checked his bag. He was there as long as I was, and in fact , was there before me. A mother and daughter were waiting a long time for their dine in order and when it finally was delivered, they informed the server it must have been sitting quite awhile as it was all cold. Throw in a very dirty kitchen, and it finally broke my tolerance level to go back.

I love caramelized onions, so Oklahoma Onion burger was the obvious choice. I added BB sauce and tomatoes so it was a little different from the concept. Even with the sauce it was dry not juicy. The more I ate, the bun just fell apart. The tots were crispy but needed salt. Disappointed that no napkins or ketchup was put with the order. Overall the meal was okay but nothing special.

This place knows how to make your taste buds do the happy dance. We didn't have to wait long for our food, which was a blessing because I was *hangry*. When the food came out, it was hot, fresh, and basically screamed, "Eat me now!" My son went for the mushroom Swiss burger, which he devoured like he hadn't eaten in weeks. I opted for the classic cheeseburger with fries -- simple, juicy, and absolutely perfect. Oh, and as if one meal wasn't enough, my son also ordered a chicken sandwich. He declared it "the best ever," which is saying something because this kid is a chicken sandwich connoisseur. The television entertainment was the Cartoon Network, which made me know this was a special place. Preston's, you've earned a special place in our hearts (and stomachs). The burger was good, very fresh bun, fresh ingredients. The fries were pretty ordinary, but crisp and hot. The standout was the biscuits that I ordered to see what they were like. The were unique and very good. They were just a little sweet. Good texture /mouth feel. I wonder if the biscuits would make a good burger bun... maybe too sweet? The place was very clean and inviting. The qr code ordering was handy, but a bit impersonal. The server was nice and did offer to take my order personally. Not sure if I'll come back on my own initiative (not close to my house). But if a friend said let's have lunch there I'd be happy to return.

The beauty of a Saturday afternoon is there were sports on and TVs hanging on the walls. That made the wait easy. Boy do they know their stuff bc it was pretty much one hour to the minute when they called our name and escorted us to our table. We sat in a booth and took in on the collection of various items around the bar that have been gathered through the years and had some laughs at some of it. It was almost like a fun game of eye spy! They came to take our drink order and by the time they returned we were ready to order. We chatted for a bit and our food came out in what seemed to be a good time. I ordered the Patty Melt with onion straws. My husband got the Thurman Burger. We were surprised by its size when they came carrying it out to our table. Believe it or not he ate every single bite. Said it was delicious. Mine was equally as delicious. Maybe not quite as big but that was fine by me. I actually quite enjoyed that they served the 1000 island on the side. It made it way easier to eat. The cheese was nice and gooey. Just perfect. The onion straws were good too. I shared those with my husband. They were actually just as good on their own as they were dipped in any kind of sauce. That's big coming from me bc I love dipping! We got a box for our leftovers and headed out happy with a great first time experience here.

Arrived approximately 3:30pm - restaurant basically empty (maybe 5 tables total occupied). Went to check in for 2 and the host said he had reservations at 5. Huh? So I asked do you mean you can't seat us until 5? And he said no, that we need to leave by then because other people are coming. I thought that was very weird and unprofessional. I've never had an experience like that before. It's a basic sit down place, why would you think we'd linger for more than an hour and a half? Whatever, weird feeling, but we were seated. Seated in the walkway. Not like in a path but literally blocking the walkway where you step down. Why do I say this? Because people walking by kept banging into me. Not their fault. Why is there a table there? And why were we seated there when at least 80% of the restaurant was empty???? Ok whatever. Ordered food including their signature made in-house tots. Waitress comes back and says they were slammed in the morning and they're out of tots. (Man I feel bad for the people coming at 5. LOL) whatever except the people at the next table appeared to be served tots. Food was tasteless. The Mac and cheese had a weird texture like the roux wasn't cooked properly. My patty melt was mostly bread as the patty was too small for the bread. My husband had the signature chimi burger and it completely lacked any chimichurri flavor. Like at all. We were out by 4ish (plenty of time for them to prepare for their expected onslaught) and needless to say I've unbookmarked this place from my yelp.
