    Lilac Dilly Bars
    Maggie W.

Drove from St Charles because we heard there were lilac Dilly Bars! Worth the drive! The walk up window had a line but it moved very quickly and ordering/pick up was easy. The employees were very friendly, there were a few places to sit, and the "patio" was very clean. The dilly bars "slapped" as my kids say. They were so good and such a fun treat! The other dessert items we saw come out looked amazing!

Finally open again. A family favorite where we meet other family members and spend many summer nights. Staff is always friendly and attentiveand quickly get through long lines. Hope it stays here forever.

I don't know why I like this DQ so much. Probably the novelty of it; retro decor, walk-up only, etc. Folks are friendly and it's quick, even if the line looks long. Parking might be what stumps you the most (both finding it and entering correctly; seems like every time I've been someone enters from the wrong side). Prices aren't out of line with other DQ's, I don't think.

If you're gonna buy icecream, BUY LOCAL!!! When I'm in Seattle, I buy Starbucks. When I'm in Lombard, I buy DQ!!!

Dairy Queen at Maple and Main. A Lombard tradition since 1953.

This little walk-up Dairy Queen at the corner of Maple and Main is a trip back in time. The building dates from 1953 and it appears little has changed, including the awesome neon signage which has been recognized by the Lombard Historical Commission. The sign is believed to be one of the last original blue and white Dairy Queen signs featuring the signature ice cream cone. The letters light up in dazzling pink neon. There's nothing surprising about what's served here. It's a Dairy Queen! But sweet treats only. I'm partial to the Peanut Buster Parfait or an old-fashioned hot fudge sundae. Either one is a perfect treat on a warm spring day after a stroll through nearby Lilacia Park. This DQ closes during the coldest months: mid-Oct to mid-February.

We stopped by DQ in Lombard on a Sunday night. Also, it's their 1st opening day of 2019. My son was so excited because they close from end of October to Early February (that's a long time!). Me and my husband get fantastic service and ice cream (they usually get strawberry misty cooler).

You can't go wrong with Dairy Queen! It's also fun to know that this location is the original. They have a plaque on the wall commemorating the original sign and that it's a Lombard historical site. Very cool!

Lilac Dip ice cream! Truly a Lombard original!

Visited this location again today! Even though the lines look out of control, the employees move very quickly and can get through the lines efficiently! Because this location is right at the heart of downtown Lombard -- they are also getting in the festive Lilac spirit this spring! If you need to know one thing about Lombard, it's that they are obsessed with their lilacs. It's Lilac season and Lombard is celebrating with parades and various events all over the town this month! I was super surprised that the local Dairy Queen was also celebrating. I couldn't help but feel special when we ordered our "lilac" dipped ice cream cone. Where else will you see a bright purple Dairy Queen ice cream cone? So cool and super cute! Really goes to show you how much they love being in this town and how much this town appreciates their business!

That was the only time she responded right away. We exchanged ideas and I told her what I needed. No response after that. I said I needed pricing and she said she would get it to me that day before 9pm. Radio silence. I didn't want to keep messaging/bothering her but sent her a few messages regardless because I was waiting. Nothing. Two days later I had to message again because I needed confirmation since I was already "talking" with her. No response again. Now the next day, a little upset, I messaged yet again and said "please let me know if you can't, so I can look around elsewhere and place an order." She responded immediately and said she had a hectic weekend and it was super busy. I understand, totally get it. She finally sent me pricing for cakes and cookies, but we decided to just go with the cookies. She said great and that she would get back to me and let me know which ones she could make etc..I said perfect. STILL WAITING. It's been 9 days since I last heard from her. I didn't even get to look around elsewhere because she left me out to dry. And now it's too late cause I need them this weekend. Look, I know it may not be a big order but I wanted to still give her the business. I felt that because it wasn't a big enough order she kind of just tossed me aside and stopped responding. I'm all about supporting small businesses but not at this rate. Even if she responds now (after seeing this review), I will not be placing any orders or recommending her. The people who did recommend Hira to me got something else coming their way, cause this was a horrible experience. 0 stars if I could

But, I am reviewing the Lombard location. The selection was good and fresh, although some of their items are a bit pricey. I ordered cake pops, brownies, and a chocolate chip cookie. The sales person was pleasant and quick. This store is their biggest store, and they feed the Winfield and Schaumburg stores. They make their pastries at this location, so you'll probably get the freshest selection at the Lombard location. I had bought a gift card from Costco for Sweet Reserve. I admit if I hadn't bought it, and received a discount at Costco for it, I probably would not have noticed the store. It's in a small strip mall on Roosevelt road which has hundreds of strip malls off the road. The store itself is clean and well kept. It does have a limited selection of products but they were all pretty good. The brownies are very frudgey, just the way I like them. The cake pops are sweet, but a little dry. The cookie has a lot of chips in them. Overall, I liked the place.

Close at 10pm but if you need longer later hours a 1am tea shop is about a quarter mile down the road with good options also. Parking lot with plenty of parking. My highlight is that they have booths. Plenty of tables and seating. Good menu options for lattes, iced, hot, espresso, etc. Reasonable priced and they have 20oz coffee. The service was nice as the girl was kind but she didn't seem to understand me well and she didn't know if the coffee was Turkish or not. Therefore, I ordered an Americano with their homemade pistachio sauce. It was a nice beverage. I also ordered a Turkish bread with ground beef. It too was delicious, hot and fresh. The ambiance is inviting. The pastries and mini to small cake options were quite beautiful. The nose level was very quiet until little ones came in. Still tolerable but if you are studying and it's busy don't forget your headphones. Lol. I studied for about 3 hours and I would definitely return again.

In fact, the last time I was there, the sweet young lady behind the counter complimented my style, which honestly made this 40-something feel pretty good about herself. Such a small gesture, but it genuinely made my day. I tried to snap a picture of all the cupcakes we got, but the kids devoured theirs before I had the chance. I'm not sure what the chocolate cupcake with the pretzel on top is called, but it is hands-down my absolute favorite. My husband loves the Wedding Cake and Lemon Drop cupcakes. But if you ask Marley and Mary Jane for their opinion... it's definitely two paws up. These two go absolutely crazy anytime they see a Smallcakes box come into the house because they know I brought them a little pup treat too. I love that Smallcakes offers something for the dogs as well -- such a cute touch. Highly recommend if you're looking for a cupcake spot that's both delicious and welcoming.

It's a small shop located in a plaza. It's pretty bare on the inside. I was immediately greeted upon entry and the lady who checked me out was really nice. They had most of their flavors on display as well as other miscellaneous products like dog cupcakes, decor, etc. The quality of the cupcakes were fresh and hefty. Taste was good but nothing amazing.
