I absolutely love this Dairy Queen. I have been coming here since as long as I can remember. (except the time it was closed & turned into Treat Street- bleh) I will warn you though, there aren't many ice cream joints around so you might find the line to get into this place out in the street, no joke. Just pull in and park. Sit outside and enjoy some 'you' time. I have never, ever, ever had a problem here, even as busy as they MOST OF THE TIME are. The drive through isn't big enough for the cars to fit on the line so instead of parking inside the parking lot and ordering at the window the cars block the right lane of the street. There are three lanes on the road and when on coming traffic is approaching the far right lane drivers have to come to a complete stop and wait for the middle lane to clear so that anyone that needs to proceed can do so by having to switch into the middle lane due to their customers blocking the right lane. When I called the store to complain the employee Raina said " Well the city will not do anything about it" What? I really love when they have the apple pie blizzard that was my favorite it had really pieces of apple and cinnamon toast quench whip cream on top with cinnamon sprinkle. I'd like to give this place 5 stars, great service, cheerful and quick employees, good treats, however... But I noticed last summer when we came in that it smelled like the bathroom had backed up. No big deal it happens to everyone.. we got our treats and went home. But when we went in tonight it smelled really strongly of porta-potty again. I'm not sure if it's the disinfectant or if they genuinely have chronic sewage problems but my youngest son has asked that we not go back until it smells better. Why are there 7 people working at this DQ at any given time? We walked in and ALL SEVEN PEOPLE stared directly at us. It was like we were being interrogated for our order. When we ordered, no one said anything... I repeated myself because I got no response, and a girl shouts "I'm getting it, right here!" I stepped back for a second. Maybe I was just ordering in a way they weren't used to. While I waited for my blizzard I watched the 6 other teenagers that run the joint push each other and talk about who has a new boyfriend at school. A large motorcycle drove by so the girlfriend and I turned to look outside. When I turned back around, the girl had my blizzard with her hand out stretched for me. Again, not even saying a word. This location is always fast and efficient, it's close to the house, it's a location that does not serve hot food menu items but does have a convenient drive thru window! Mom's blood sugar must have been low on our way home because she wanted DQ and since she was buying, who was I to say no? DQ is always consistently quick, accurate and friendly. Today I was at the drive thru and witnessed many health code violations in terms of hair containment. The employees working on the line did not have their hair up, and I even saw an employee use her right hand to scratch the nape of her neck and stroke her greasy bangs with her left hand. Immediately after, she gave a cone to a customer without washing her hands or putting on gloves. The last thing I want is a coarse, greasy, thick, black strand of hair in my food or a grease mark on my cone. Okay, we are somewhat still new to T-Town and the ways here. We are finding out the some of the same name places to eat don't serve the same food. This DQ is a classic example. We pulled in to get a burger and Blizzard but found out fast they don't serve burgers or anything that isn't frozen. We left still hungry but with blizzards in had. This place is very good, and one of the cleanest DQS I've seen. They are well organized and quick with orders. It gets very busy at times and when it does your put with in five minutes ten if cats are lined up to street. The associates are always smiling and theh are willing to work. The ice Cream is amazing the best part eat there or drive thru. Off of 22nd between wilmont and Craycroft if your in the area and you would like something cool/ refreshing to eat or drink definitely stop by this dairy queen it is one thing that you will definitely not regret. My family lives close to this location. We aren't "regulars" but we have been here six or so times in the past couple years. The customer service is very hit or miss . I normally wouldn't take the time to reviews such a basic place with limited options but my experience has been kind of strange so I thought I'd share.. My two small children, husband and I normally order the blizzards when we want a quick ,sweet and unplanned treat. With that being said, our latest experience was probably the last because DQ added a extra " ingredient",. Yes they were kind" enough to add napkins to my son's blizzard,.free of charge!! Yes you read that right : napkins!! We didn't Discover it until on our way home ., my son kept finding pieces of paper ., (as in literally pulling it out of his mouth ) after the first bites he took! I initially assumed it was paper from the cup shedding off of the inside of the cup for some reason maybe a "faulty" cup? It was dark outside and we were on foot , I couldn't see paper so I took a bite.,.. and behold !! there was tons of paper in my mouth. I was finally able to easily identify the source of the mystery paper by the time we got to a different store on our way home ., . Dairy Queen napkins . We were too tired and it was too late to go back and say anything. The waste of money is not even a big deal to me but my son was so excited to get a treat!! He hid his disappointment well but I sure felt terrible for him. He's 8 years old doesn't whine or cry or throw tantrums and is so patient. It was a real let-down ., I think I took it harder than he did simply for the fact that he didn't deserve that :(... I work customer service myself and I honestly don't complain plus I always tip . So I'm hoping this was an accident and wasn't some retaliatory measure because someone was having a bad day . Being a waitress for over 10 years I understand how sometimes someone's hair ends up in food (as disgusting as the concept is it is just inevitable once in a long time )etc ., it's bound to happen and it's not intentional . It happens everywhere despite precautions to ensure it doesn't happen. But trying to figure out how Dairy Q stamp napkins ended up in ice cream from their machine straight into a cup ?? So,. I will give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it was an accident but some accidents are just hard to overlook.. This is the first time I have visited this Dairy Queen since its renovation and it looks great! There were four people working and the drive thru line was decent and the lobby had some customers as well. Due to the number of staff there was only one person working the inside who's name was Carter. He consistently had a smile on his face and was having fun with his coworkers too. He managed to make orders very quickly as I never felt as if I was waiting a long time. He then talked me into getting the new Royal blizzard as opposed to my normal Oreo, and I have to say I was satisfied. He was very fast and talkative, and if I feel like having a laugh and enjoying a blizzard I will cross my fingers that he is working next time I come in. Five stars. read more
