We visited October 18th 2024. I had the chicken strip basket as did others in my family. We all agreed it was extremely overcooked and tough. It was also extremely over salted. Darn near inedible except we were starving. The Bible on the counter asking for highlighted passages was ...interesting. I wonder how people of other faiths feel about this faith being showcased in a place of business? Do yourself a favor, go to the Dairy Palace around the corner. read more

Just had one of the best fast food meals ever. The fries were hot and crispy and the belt buster and grilled chicken were absolutely yummy and exactly to order The bathrooms were bright and clean. Loved the Bible and the worship music. Even if that's not your thing ... the staff sure acted like you'd want Christians to behave :) read more

Pretty consistent food but prices have really gone up and service has declined overall. Dine-in is a better experience than drive-thru. Some drive-thru experiences here will test your patience. read more

I read some of these negative reviews and needed to counter with a positive one. I have stopped here off and on during my weekly work trips into Van. This place has always been clean and the customer service has been very good. The food is as good as any Dairy Queen I've eaten at too. The manager, Crystal, is always friendly and has a great smile. It's hard to leave without one if you've seen hers. I saw several of Van PD eating there today, and any place that Law Enforcement deems trustworthy to eat at has my trust as well. Anyone looking for good service, good food, and great smiles needs to stop in. But they won't open the door before 10am... I learned that the hard way! read more

I'll start this review off right, the completely forgot my order. We went inside to order our food and take a break from driving. I ordered for myself and the rest of my family and had two things brought to me about 10 minutes after we got our drinks. The young lady who brought it said the rest of our food will be brought out shortly. After seeing several others get their food who ordered after us, we began to wonder if they forgot about us. After this happened with more people, I went up to the counter and the same girl looked at me. Without acknowledging that I came up there, she continued serving other people -- someone behind her giving orders was telling her to do so. I didn't go up to talk to her since it was getting busier but saw she had went to look for my order and ask the others working if they had cleared it from her screen. Honestly to the restaurant's excuse, there were several others that came in after me and it was clear that they were pretty busy. All that said, I felt like she could have at least said something to me. Instead, I overheard the conversation between her and the two other workers there that she had thought that they gave me my food and they thought that she had given me my food. After realizing that I was in fact standing there empty handed, they made it. About five minutes later, the guy delivered it to me and said, "Sorry about the wait." The food was okay but the overall experience was not great. No apology or acknowledgment that a mistake was made, virtually no care in relation to customer service standards. We will probably skip this location in the future when passing through. read more

Pro's: The ice cream was good (even if, after multiple requests, the server inexplicably disappeared back into the kitchen without dipping my daughter's cone). Also, the fries were edible, if under salted. Con's: The food was largely inedible. My burger had a distinctly unpleasant smell to it and tasted disgusting. My daughter's grilled chicken sandwich was similarly inedible. The restrooms were vile. The general atmosphere run down and uncared for. The servers were oblivious and trying to get there attention to discuss poor quality of the food was a lost cause. Unless you're going just for ice cream I'd recommend staying away from this DQ. read more

Not a fan of this location. Therefore, I look forward to my mini road trips to Louisiana where I can get what I want and the correct order. The drive-thru attendant was so ditzy I couldn't believe my ears. I wanted two brownie sundaes with banana. You'd think that was an easy order. However, for him, it must've been extremely complicated. I was the only one there at the joint so you'd think the attention would be on my order and everything would be peachy, nope. I had to wait 10 minutes for the sundaes, then another 7 minutes because he forgot the bananas. My sundae did not look appetizing at all. No whipped cream, no cherry, no almonds. Just HUGE chunks of banana, brownie bites you'd put on your fro-yo, hot fudge and of course your vanilla ice cream. I recommend ONLY getting a cone, but there could be a possibility that you'll end up with a bowl of ice cream with a cone sticking out on top. read more

This Dairy Queen couldn't be any worse if it were situated in one of Dante's lower rungs of hell. To start the food might be palatable for non-human species. I ordered the nachos with cheese and was reciprocated 10 minutes later with what looked to be a slightly melted slab of block cheese that could only be described as disheartening and severely bland. The restroom however, is where the real action is located. There was a long creepy hallway outside of the main dining area, there were multiple lights flickering above the desolate and rugged tile hallway to the restrooms. It was very reminiscent of something you would find in the scene of a Wes Craven movie. Sufficed to say I decided it was not safe to venture down that beaten path without my friend Virgil, who decided it was safer to wait in the car than accompany me. So inevitably I decided I would be better off to hold "it" in. To conclude, I have never been more uncomfortable or frightened at a fast-food restaurant in my life. This was the first and last time that I have ever ventured into a "Dairy Queen" and it has left a strong and undeterred stain in my mind much like the walls and kitchen of the "restaurant." Tried the new owner DQ out and they are no better than the previous owners. The food is just down right sub par and salty. They have they're cooks put salt on all burgers which according to DQ GM for this location gives it flavor. It just gives a bad aftertaste. I would not recommend this DQ to anyone..... If your comming off the interstate just keep going there are very good places to eat in Van just not Dairy Queen. read more

My burger was delicious, service was good, and my Blizzard was made properly. There were no problems with the family's food. I am docking stars because there is no changing table in the bathroom. One thing I hate is having to go back out into the blazing heat of a Texas summer and change her in the car. I won't be back until kid(s) are out of diapers. read more
