I have visited their sister location in Silverlake Mirate, many times. I decided to try this new place out. The ambiance and vibe was nice. The food was excellent and very tasteful. I highly recommend! The only problem with this place is the drinks. I don't recommend coming here for multiple drinks as they are overpriced for what you get. You essentially are paying for a big block of ice in your cup. I ordered a few to try, tasty, but NOT for the price of ice. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough to warrant one. From the moment we arrived, the hostess was trying to keep us from leaving due to the chaos. We were seated soon and then waited far a not so pleasant waiter. The waiter didn't bother to even greet us with a hello. He quickly asked if we wanted tape water or sparkling . The staff seemed disorganized and uninterested in providing even basic hospitality. As for the food--completely underwhelming. For the price point, I expected something at least decent, but everything we ordered was bland. Portion sizes were small, and the presentation didn't help either. We came here for the first time on a Sunday lunchtime. Our first impression was great, had a good vibe was very busy. We sat at the bar and had good service. We weren't hungry so just had a margarita and a vodka soda, and a small side of fries to munch on. The drinks were ok. The negative part of the review comes from when we received the check. $20 for the margarita, $18 for a shot of vodka, $11 for a small side of unseasoned french fries, and then an additional $1 for a splash of soda for my vodka??? Then an additional 4% employee benefits charge was added, plus tax. The best thing it has going for it is that the atmosphere is very cozy and feels like a high-end Mexican restaurant. However, the service was all over the place; we had four different servers over the course of our visit and no one seemed to know who was our main server. This led to some extremely long waits. All three of us ordered different "famous" margaritas: mine was mostly ice, another was "disgusting," and the third was too strong to drink without watering down further. The food was delicious, however when served the chips and salsa, a silica gel packet was left on the plate - what a fun surprise! Daisy is definitely not worth checking out. I saw this place on Tik tok and was immediately obsessed with the drink menu and had to come by. My boyfriend and I had a reservation for 9pm and when we came in it was super loud and pretty crowded. (By the time we left it quited down tremendously). We were seated immediately and began to browse the menu. We ordered three drinks each, my boyfriend really enjoyed the classic margarita and the famous salsa verde. I was skeptical since I usually prefer sweeter drinks but the salsa verde was perfectly balanced and a MUST try! My favorite margarita had to be the sour apple or the mangonada both were delicious and drinks I had never send before. To eat we got the ceviche which was insanely good and I will get when I go again. The octopus taco which was one of the best pieces of octopus I had ever had, another must try. We ordered one more dish that I can't remember the name but for me was not my favorite. It is a bit expensive but to me it was worth it. Overall this place is really cute and I had so much fun on my date night here. My office held their annual Administrative Professionals Day Luncheon here and this restaurant went above and beyond our expectations! We were grateful they allowed our lunch as they normally open at 5pm. We initially enjoyed the decor, music, spanish lessons by the bathroom and the phenomenal tequila. While everyone enjoyed a bit of everything (there were 29 in our party!) I personally had the margarita clasica with the house mezcal and damiana ... oof!! *chef's kiss* The food was incredible as we started with the salsas de la casa and smashed avocado tostadas. We then had ceasar salad and queso fundido.... ooohhh the queso!!! Then we made our way through tacos de hongo (mushrooms!), pollo asada (phenomenal flavored chicken), arabe (marinated pork) and the grand finale of meats - carne asada with confit potatoes... yum!!! And don't forget about dessert as the flan de cajeta will blow you away!!! The margaritas are so beautifully made. They must be tried. I tried four. The mango one is insanely good. The creamsicle impressed me the most. We tried only a couple dishes. I got oysters, which I thought were delicious. I thought the sauce they came with was like nothing I've ever tasted. I also got queso fundido which was so good!! And we got what taste like a hamachi crudo. I forgot the name of it. The service was fantastic, which is impressive considering it was their opening night. I sat at the bar where you can get full service. This restaurant I think is owned by the same people that run mirate in Los Feliz/silver lake so maybe that has something to do with it's so absolutely delicious and so stunning on the inside of the restaurant. It's a fun experience, there's no television, it's very loud, but it's very intimate at the same time. There's different places to sit there's high tops. There are tables. There are booths. There is seating inside and a tiny bit of seating outside, there is a very creative way that they organize the seating that I find very cute so you could try to have different experiences when you're there depending on where you sit. It's definitely a fun place and I cannot believe how incredibly high quality the cocktails are. They don't only have margaritas, they have other cocktails that I didn't try, but I was impressed with what they had. You definitely need to try this place if you're on the side of town. I was in awe of the interior design alone. The staff was friendly, helpful in suggestions and attentive. I really appreciated the unique spins of traditional Mexican food. I feel often Mexican food is seen as street food and Daisy showcased various authentic ingredients. The music was nostalgic as a Latina but still in fit for a restaurant where people will have conversations. I got the chile rellenos which was a fun take on the usual way it's made. The quality of food was great. The drinks were also very great even for a tequila hater like me. They truly were exceptional and deserving of the award. Wednesday night, Husband and I always do a date night somewhere local so decided to try out Daisy for the first time - absolutely lovely fun festive ambience with great decor, great vibes pleasantly surprised and we were sat on the bar immediately as walk ins no reservations so ordered a couple of rounds of their classic margaritas which were absolutely fantastic ! We also tried a few dishes on the menu -ceviche , carne asada w chips and house flight of salsa and chips . Food was OK but overall we had a good time ! Then the interesting part starts when the time comes to ask for the check. Very cute guy behind the bar noticed we were waiting for our server for a while to close out and offered to help. I paid him a compliment that he had great energy which he did behind the bar and he then brought us the check which was $118. We put $200 cash down to close out . He made an offhand comment "free to stay guys I'm gonna clear everything up " he proceeds to do everything else but get out change back and 5 minutes 10 minutes 15 minutes go by we don't get our change . We now had to ask three different people for the change then the original guy comes back offering to give us a "discount" because we waited so long and asked if we want to play a game to make up for the inconvenience, I said jokingly anything involving shots I am in so yes sure presuming ofc that we would be offered a couple of rounds of complimentary tequila shots to make up for the time that we had to wait for our change and ask so many people which is kind of annoying , but he then comes back with some sort of an electrical device. Instructed us to hold hands us 3 and then proceeded to literally give us electric current shocks from the device saying this was a game hmmm wtf !!! Why is this OK? Why is this allowed? Why is this even a thing at a restaurant and who thought this was fun ? I'm completely mind blown and it totally ruined our whole experience my husband is so mad wanted to ask for the manager but we didn't wanna make a scene so we just walked out in disbelief. First time at Daisy and I absolutely loved it!! The restaurant itself is so aesthetically adorable. They offer $10 valet, which is very helpful for a restaurant on Ventura blvd. Yvette was our server and she was great. Knew the menu very well, and that's quite important here as the menu is half spanish half english. She answered all our questions and was very attentive. The food is delicious!! I got their guac and pork taco. Honestly, I was ready for average, but wow was I surprised. I got above average. The guac was so fresh and flavorful! The pork was so soft and juicy, and the sauce they use with that taco, OMG DELISH. I was happily shocked at how delicious the food was. Mind u, the taco only comes with 1 for $10 but that and the guac filled me up. My friend got 2 pork tacos and she was full. We got the sour apple margarita and Cadillac marg. Both a 10/10. So this place missed the mark because of a few specific things. Bottom line. It was a one and done for me. I'm not going back. Here is the good. The decor is awesome. Really cool looking place all around. The people working there were nice enough. Nothing special. Just fine. The bad - The prices for some of the food were ridiculous. $8 for a street taco as small as the palm of my hand. 2 or 3 bites max. Cocktails were like $20 and up. Simpler drinks were cheaper. Its a mixed bag there. It felt like too much. Some cocktails were good, some bad. For that price they should all be incredible. 4 drinks plus 20% tip was over $100 for a random weekday night. They're very particular about seating. There was an extra person who showed up and they didn't want to move an extra chair over to fit us. To start the appetizers are delicious the smashed avocado is a must with the chicharrón de ribeye and the tostada are perfect nice and crunchy. we also had cayo de hacha ceviche delicious perfect amount of spice for the main entrees we had the tacos de pulpo y los tacos de hongo super delicious definitely coming back for those also the tostada de cangrejo was insanely good. When you walk inside you feel like this is going to be fun! And it is dependent upon who you are with of course. The food was decent and service was good as well. Not special though. As we are all now being forced to adjust to a $20 -$25 drink in an 10 ounce glass with a 6 ounce square cube center stage in the glass, I was hoping that this new margarita bar would be more economically accessible so we might enjoy it more often. When I say we need a good local Mexican restaurant, I am never thinking guest or pretentious food options. I will say the drinks are tasty and not overly sweet or cloying. There just isn't enough in the glass to whet your whistle, let alone quench your thirst. And when I consider what can be made at home at a small fraction of the cost, it gives me pause. And I think maybe having a couple of drinks with friends before an uber ride would be well worth the effort when going to these shots-disguised-as-cocktails restaurants in Los Angeles. Now, the salsa ($12)? It was next level! The flavors were bursting with joy and danced all over my palette. Again, not enough chips and I remember when salsa came without a charge. The queso fundido ($23) was delish, but it was also such a thin layer of cheese in a shallow cast iron plate, it made it difficult to scrape up the thin layer of burned edges cheese ...and it certainly didn't have a gooey pull because there wasn't enough to cover the two chips, let alone dip into. Not how I think of queso, when only the tip of the chip is submerged and the rest is left naked and feeling drafty between my fingers. The Caesar salad ($18) was meh. We enjoyed the ceviche ($25) but there were more onions than fish and only three out of the four of us could actually taste the fish because there just wasn't enough to go around. Lots of liquid and onions though and packed with flavor. It reminded me of fish in an authentic Mexican taco by the beach. The Branzino was delightful. It was light and delicate with charred ends. It was $39 which isn't inexpensive, but in LA it's a bargain comparatively speaking and it was the largest part of the meal. We finished off with the tres leches cake. The fideo was served with luscious shrimp on top. It was delicious. The beef was full of flavor and tender. The mushroom tacos are delicious and filling. I would have taken pictures but I was so excited about eating the food. I rarely have a meal that every dish was great and full of new flavors. But that was one of these meals for sure !
