One of the hidden gems in this area. Love taking my out of town friends here when picking up them up from Burbank. Love the vibe and we dress the era. The drinks are excellent.

The Rendition Room has become my go-to place anytime I'm in the LA area. Easy to get to, no hassle parking & multiple venues at one location. I travel often throughout the US and speakeasies are what I search for. The others should use The Rendition Room as their criteria. The food (delivered from Vitello's) was delicious. Sausage & Pepper skillet this time. The adult beverages were again, spot on. The primary focus here is the superb mixologist & cocktail naming master Scott. I did the Baked Bourbon Old Fashioned this visit. Great conversation with history of the drink included, fantastic enthusiasm, and wonderful entertainment. All while making every patron feel important & included or as private as they want. This trip also included The Velvet Martini Lounge (upstairs) for after dinner live music. Also a great find. Scott, thanks again. TIL next time.

This a review times three. I was introduced to this sweet establishment a year ago by my Son who used to be a bar fly , but now drinking less is more a a bar gnat. He had been self taught learning about the differences of the properties of alcohol behind my parents open bar at a young age. It is especially for us at The Rendition Room with the incomparable, affable Scott that feels like home. We can comfortably discuss all sorts of things under the watchful eyes of Scott always making sure we are taken care of. The Ambience is a wonderful treat either sitting at the bar, in a comfortable booth, or languishing in a cozy stuffed chair by the magnificent Wurlitzer.Something about the beautiful bar with its beautiful glistening bottles of different shapes and colours of liquor that is so relaxing to us. I during college in San Francisco spent enough evenings on North Beach with my Father back in the day. The Galaxy and The Moulin Rouge weren't as homey as The Rendition Room. They also didn't have Scott who entertains as he gracefully moved about the bar like a linebacker making sure one and all patrons are tended to. He pops up when the lighted glass is pushed forward on your table, signifying a particular thirst or hungry need of sustenance. My second visit was with my Lady and she absolutely loved every minute of our meeting with Scott. I fully intend to bring a few friends back with me very soon. I will call it another visit to home.

Ambience and house rules when you walk in!

Had a wonderful night!! The food and drink were absolutely delicious. Scott was an absolute rockstar and clearly knows how to take care of anyone who comes in. He made me quite literally the best drink I've ever had. We LOVE a theme and this is the perfect place to dress up and feel immersed. Shout out Scott for being the best server ever

My friends and I spent this past New Years Eve at The Rendition Room and it was wonderful! The drinks were lovely and the overall ambience was cozy and classic. The staff made us feel so welcome and even let us take photos behind the bar. I've never felt more at home in a bar!

Ambiance: nice dark moody atmosphere. Loved the private booths Food: nothing special and didn't really love what I was eating Service: the guy was friendly and a pleasure to be around. Very prompt and responding to needs Drink: well crafted drinks but don't think it's LA crafted standards with those LA prices Overall impression: would recommend to others and come back

After my husband surprised me here a few weeks ago, we couldn't wait to come back for drinks. I'm again blown away by how intimate and private the Rendition Room is. To say the service is excellent is an understatement. The cocktails are always so well crafted. The quality of food is on point and I enjoy every bite. Make note: Dress code enforced, 90 minute limit and reservations are required.

I had reservations at 9pm and arrived about 8:40pm and was brought in 9pm. I had the Seven Seas & Marilyn. The drinks were crafted well. I love the entire atmosphere of the bar. I also had the white pizza and the crust was so good. I would love to come back here again!!

My first time at The Rendition Room after enjoying Velvet Martini Lounge many times. We came on a Wednesday, and what makes Rendition Room simply great is that your bartender is your "everything". Drinks are different than other drinks in the Vitello's many bar choices, and being a cocktail snob, I gotta say the cocktails made by Scott, our server and bartender, were awesome! And Scott was a witty fun informative server too! The food comes from the main kitchen, which was fantastic as usual. The ambience and the service and the cocktails were top-notch! It was 10 out of 10! A really really wonderful experience!

I finally made it to The Rendition Room and it did not disappoint! I came here on a date with my favorite person (ME) and if i'm not feeling selfish...maybe ill share this little secret of a place with others. Arrived at around 8pm and was escorted behind the bookshelf at Vitello's and into the Speakeasy that is The Rendition room. Totally suave atmosphere. Dark, sexy, cool vibes (reminds me of myself). I took a seat at the bar and was greeted by my bartender/waitress, who was wonderful and accommodating. After taking a look at the menu, i knew I wanted to start off with the tiki drink (can't remember the name but it was very strong - definitely take your date here to seduce them, the drinks make it easy). It was totally delicious. For food, I opted for pizza and it was massive and a great price ($18) I can definitely see myself here splitting a pizza and being very satisfied. I only spent an hour here before my I had to fly away to the next part of my adventure (like the fairy I am). But, I definitely will be back to The Rendition Room.

    Short Rib with polenta

Came here to check out the venue, love a nice hidden speakeasy. It did feel like you're walking into the past when you enter the room. Dimly candle kit room, fireplace, old jukebox, private booths. Prior to entrance, you walk to a bookshelf, and have to pull a specific book to unlock the bookshelf which then opens when you pull it. Very fun and mysterious! Scott was our everything: host, mixologist, server and concierge. If we needed anything, he was on top of it. We started the night with the meatballs, which were cooked well and had a nice sauce. Drinks came around the same time: the Tiki on Tujunga and Seven Seas. The Tiki had a nice balance of juices with rums, where you could taste the rum mixed with the dram of all spice, but wasn't overpowering as the juices cut it just right. The Seven Seas had more of a sourness to it, maybe from the lime juice, but was still a good drink. For entrees, we tried the butternut squash ravioli, the short rib with polenta and the carbonara. The ravioli was flavorful inside, but the outside felt dry. It needed a sauce, some butter and/or some fresh grated parmigiana on top. The short rib was cooked well and had a nice flavor. The polenta, however, did not taste seasoned at all, and had a much more grainy texture. I guess I was expecting a nice, creamy polenta. As for the carbonara, it was the most flavorful of the three dishes. The downside was that the poached egg on top was a little over poached to where the yolk didn't run when cut. With the entrees I also had a Mayan Skies cocktail which, for me, was the best out of the three. Nice spice level and the fresh mango puree really elevated the drink Overall, I would say to come here for the ambiance, Scott and the cocktails. It really is a nice, hidden gem in Studio City that would be great for a hangout or a date night. As for the food, it comes from the adjacent restaurant and isn't as great as I would have hoped. I'd say eat ahead of time and go to the Rendition Room to drink, talk and enjoy the vibe

"Prohibition has made nothing but trouble." - Al Capone Shhhh... I don't want to be called a "stoolie." Still, I can't hold back my appreciation to fellow West LA Yelper and family friend Doug S for arranging a low-key and retro dining experience at this hidden gem in the back of Vitello's Italian Restaurant at Studio City. It was a chilly and drizzling evening, so we parked in the lot (valet service) attached to Vitello's and entered the restaurant. The hostess gave us the lowdown on the House Rules while we waited to be escorted to the clandestine entrance to The Rendition Room. At our precise reservation time, a smartly dressed man, Scott, came to stealthily escort us down a dark hallway towards the hidden doorway (bookcase) and restrooms. He spoke in a no-nonsense and low tone, and we observed that he was the "One Man Show" during our 90-minute stay. Scott was direct yet friendly. However, we understood why he didn't spend much time banter with all the customers after seating them and escorting them in. Scott took everyone's beverage and food orders while also serving as bartender. When the food orders were ready from the kitchen, he delivered and served the meals from memory! Beverages and Food: - New Old Fashioned: bourbon, black walnut bitters, orange oil, luxardo cherry, and rendition mist. My husband's choice, and he enjoyed this cocktail made with bourbon even though he said it was sweet. $18 - Doctor's Orders: Smokey single malt scotch, canton ginger liqueur, lemon juice, and honey. I tried this concoction because its description reminded me of my mother's homemade cold relief sans liquor. Woo! This cocktail is a perfect prescription to combat cold symptoms or none. $18 -Crispy Artisan Bread: served with truffle herb ricotta & hot honey. The short and plump loaf had a slightly hard exterior crust with a dense and chewy interior. The bread slices were an excellent canvas for the truffle herb ricotta. We reminded ourselves not to fill up on the bread since our meals hadn't been delivered yet. $8 -Calamari & Shrimp: flash-fried golden brown, lightly and perfectly breaded calamari and shrimp were served with ramekins of marinara and tartar sauce. We were impressed with their breading since we could differentiate the calamari rings from legs and shrimp. There wasn't any heavy batter to mask the seafood pieces. Each bite was a light, airy, crispy, and non-greasy morsel..$19 -Pesto Gnocchi ($26) + Salmon ($12): the gnocchi were soft, chewy, and plump, and their richness was lightened with an herbaceous and cheesy pesto. I requested salmon as my protein since the pesto would complement its flavor. The other choice offered was chicken, but I've been eating chicken frequently, that I'm about to sprout feathers! There were good-sized salmon chunks distributed through the pesto-cloaked pasta. It was a tasty, rich, and very satisfying meal, and I only ate half of the serving because I thought about having dessert. -Chicken Decision: Choice of parmigiana, piccata, marsala, or Milanese. My husband chose the Milanese-style cutlet. The chicken breast cutlet was thicker than we're used to seeing for the Milanese style, but it was succulent, tender, and flavorful. This entree included a serving of spaghetti aglio e olio. I'm sure my husband enjoyed his entree, and he was hungry because he cleaned his plate. $32 -Classic Cannoli: Filled with creamy sweet mascarpone and chocolate chips, the thin crisp shell reminded me of the excellent cannolis from Boston's historic North End, Mike's Pastry. My sweet tooth was delighted with the cannoli even though I had my heart set on a slice of the Spumoni Cake. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn't have the Spumoni Cake available that evening. I shared the cannoli with my husband, who seemed to hog more than his half. $10 Our dining mates ordered the Carbonara and bone-in Pork Chop as their entrees and shared the sides of broccolini and sweet potato fries. The Italian-American cuisine and speakeasy ambiance were alive and well under the watchful eyes of our bartender/server, Scott. Even as the speakeasy filled during our 90-minute dining limit, Scott kept everyone happy with full alcohol pours and delicious food. We'd love to return with the possibility of catching live jazz or magic performances during dinner time, and we certainly won't worry about having to make quick escapes in case of a police raid.

scott is an amazing bartender. great cocktails. thanks!

Ask the Community - The Rendition Room

Do I need to be a member to go or make a reservation?

No you don't need to be a member. Non-members are allowed to join us with a small surcharge. Joining Club Rendition does unlock a lot of benefits, however. Discounts, free wine dinners, free meals, etc.

Are reservations still for members only or does everyone now need to make a reservation? If everyone needs a reservation, how far in advance can you make reservations?

Yes, everyone needs to make a reservation. You can make it pretty far in advanced. Go on the website to make it. It usually posts the calendar. They are not opened on Mondays

Im confused, are reservations required for cocktails at the bar Sat night around 7pm? There will be 6 of us?

no reservations for parties bigger than four

Do you need a reservation to sit at the bar for drinks only?

Yes you should get a reservation. The place is tiny.

    How do you get in?

    Reservations available on Yelp. Thanks

    How is their food?

We’ve been there once since they reopened and it was very good. They are part of Vitellos Restaurant so their food comes from that kitchen.

    Do they serve dinner?

Yes, they use Vitellos menu I believe. It's not really the atmosphere for it though, especially if you don't get a booth. I think the booths are for parties too. Best for enjoying a drink and conversation. Maybe a small dessert or something to share.

Do magicians still perform on Tuesdays?

Yes his name is Michael he is amazing !!! He also makes it personal to you I even got to keep the card I wrote my name and date on. A must see

Do you have to order food?

No dinner is not required but there are a number of tasty apps if you want a small nosh. Just drinks is fine too

Do they do cigars as well?

No, no smoking in the building or near it.

How do you become a member?

You can send them an email, there should be one listed somewhere on the website

Do they serve non-alcoholics drinks too?

Hi David! We do serve craft non alcoholic cocktails!! As a matter of fact our new menu that launches Oct 1st will feature an entire list of non alcoholic craft cocktails!

On Tuesday nights, is it quiet enough to hear conversations and do you have comfortable seats that work for groups of 4-8 people?

RR comfortably seats up to 4 people maximum.

    Jazz here? Or only magicians?

Hi Damian! We have magicians perform every Tuesday night! Book reservations via RESY! Above us there is a club called Upstairs at Vitellos that provides live entertainment 7 nights a week ranging from jazz to stand up comedy. You can buy tickets for…

Can a group of 6 come and sit together?

RR comfortably seats up to 4 people maximum.

    What is the dress code?

    Business Casual! See you soon!

Can we go there without becoming members just to see what it's like before we join? What is the cost to go to the club if we do this? Thank you Rita

You are welcome to join us most anytime. Simply go to Yelp and make a reservation. No cost to you. Appropriate attire is requested.…

Last question -- how can I call? I can't find a phone number

Nope. Very quiet. Great for a date.

When I look up cigar bars, your venue comes up every time, but the website says no to smoking cigars. Can you clear this up for me?

I’m not sure why we come up, but NO cigars are allowed. Sorry

    Are you open Sunday's?

We are now open 7 nights a week from 5pm

They do have parking behind the building which seems to fill pretty quickly if they're busy, but it's easy to find parking around the neighborhood. I am not usually in the tavern scene so I was surprised that we had to order and pay at the bar, but it wasn't a big issue. My friend and I split the kale caesar salad and the macaroni and cheese. For the table, I ordered the waffle fries after being informed by the kind waitress that that was the better choice over the pretzel (which she also said was amazing). Since the place was filling up for the final, the kitchen was a bit slow, but we barely noticed with how attentive the staff were in getting us drinks and refills. When it came to food, we were pleasantly surprised with this place and is honestly the reason I'm writing this review. The first things we got were the Beef Tallow Waffle Fries, Caesar Salad, and mac and cheese. Obviously the fries were much better, however the salad was also divine but just swimming in dressing. Back to the fries, we all were mindblown with how tavern fries could be this good and had so many flavors. Even the skinny queens in our group kept snacking on them which tells you how good these were. Mac and cheese came and it was standard and creamy but not necessarily something I'd return for. The surprising thing on top of the fries that majority of us loved was the Vegan Tomato Scampi with shrimp. It was fire and had me questioning if it was even Vegan. Would definitely return here if I find my way back to SoCal from the Bay. Great unassuming place with great food and vibes. Their bathroom as well is super clean and nice! Love this place!

This place gets really packed sometimes but even in the chaos, when customers are rude and drunk and break things they keep their cool, always. But don't treat them poorly. I will come for you. Chard is the GM and he is one of the kindest and most generous humans I have had the pleasure of know and is the mastermind behind getting the themed nights up and going. His ability to make a person feel welcome is pretty much unmatched in my opinion. The food: omg you guys the FOOD!!!! It's so good. They just changed the menu so I haven't gotten to try everything yet but the chicken dumplings are delicious. A bit of a kick but the best kind. The chili cheese fries that my friend had were also so good. Perfect cheese to chili ratio with the fries. There is a chef in the back who is passionate about food and making sure it tastes perfect so I trust everything is good. But if you are unsure ask the servers or bartenders. They won't steer you wrong. The drinks: admittedly, I mostly drink just screwball on the rocks. However every mixed cocktail I have had here has been perfection. Mark is the manager and he could be a mixologist, should be a mixologist, super nice guy who is shockingly good and remembering peoples drink preferences. Like a year ago was the last time I ordered cider and he remembered! The vibe: I wouldn't really call this place a dive bar, but it's sort of got a hint of dive bar going on. The back patio is really nice during the summer but sitting inside the barrel is fun too. The bulldog is kinda small so you won't fit a ton of people in there but it's still fun. Lots of places to sit although sometimes it does get packed and it's standing room only. Not to mention, they allow dogs!!! This is a great place to come with a first date. It's good for dressing up a little but not too much and there are some corners you can sit in so you can have a little closeness. But the staff will also keep an eye out for you. If you are feeling uncomfortable in any way, they will keep an eye out for you and help you out. There isn't a designated dance floor but they won't be mad if you dance in the area that you've got available to you. Just don't accidentally knock anything over or hit anybody. The music: Chard is usually in charge of the play list but even when he isn't the music is usually pretty great and there's a band that comes and plays on Sundays for a while in the afternoon/evening. I have found some of my new favorite music because of this place. Drag brunch: I've never actually attended because I've heard it gets a little crazy and that can be a little scary overwhelming for me, but they do it everyday Saturday and Sunday and that's been going strong for a pretty long time so I have to assume it's a good time. The themed events: this is the kind of crazy I can handle though. They have done lots of the rings, zelda anniversary, a Star Wars themed singles event for Valentine's Day, a scholastic book fair, and Easter egg hunt, their Halloween and New Year's Eve events were AMAZING, I could go on and on. People turn up for these events and they are just some of the most fun especially with the costumes you will see. Go to Idle Hour. I've never loved a bar before. This place is something else. I promise you won't be disappointed, unless you're one of those kinds of people who finds something wrong no matter how amazing the place is or you're kind of an entitled jerk.

This place came up several times when I researched on great restaurants that have excellent vibes…read moreand great food. Although it didn't really necessarily show up as "the best food in LA area" but all the reviews were so good so I became curious to try. Mainly the reviews also raved about the vibes, services, and live music. Well, they were not wrong! It was fairly easy to make a reservation through Opentable, and I made a reservation for two people for my birthday dinner on Sunday night. I put on the notes that it's my bday so it'll be nice to get a nice table near the stage. I didn't have a high expectation, cos I'd never been to the place and I didn't make a call or anything. But wow, they definitely gave us a great table at the very front! As many reviewers had mentioned, the acoustic of the restaurant is really great. You can barely hear other people's conversations. There's a live jazz band playing, so you can really enjoy that. Although it made it slightly hard to hear what other nearby people say to you either, haha. Our server Dawson was a really great one! Very nice, very informative and just has a great vibe that made you feel comfortable to converse with him. We also asked if he could take a picture of us and he went above and beyond with taking our pictures haha. He took the table lamp as our additional "lighting". Such a great service! Dawson also made a few suggestions on food. We ordered the milk bun (so great!), the tiger prawns tostada (omg, my favorite of the night!), braised lamb pasta, pork belly risotto, and roasted broccolini. Everything was really good and really filled us up! We also got the "smokin old fashioned" and "Wake up and repeat" cocktails. It was plenty of food for us so we asked for a check. Dawson asked if we wanted a dessert but we were already full. He asked if it's ok to give us a lil treat for my bday. It was a really nice dessert :). Oh I forgot to mention that they also put a small bday card on the table for me. The prices of food and drinks are on the higher sides, but I feel like it's worth it due to the live music and the vibe. It easily covers the entertainment part. We definitely will go back and recommend this place for anyone who's looking into a nice date night or to celebrate something special. I was informed that Friday has more of a "party vibe" here, although it's still a jazz performance. Sunday feels more laid back :) Overall I'm really pleased by this place. I used to think that I don't care that much about excellent service as long as the food is great, but I was wrong. The excellent hospitality just made the night even better than expected. Thank you for making my bday dinner memorable.

This place was on my list and we happen to pop in at 5pm but reservations are highly recommended…read more It was a little difficult to find because it's just a door without any signs, but I saw the valet guy pop out so we figured it was the entrance. The usually have a live band after 7pm and the sound in the resturant is amazing. It's like a recording studio. The staff was very friendly! The decor and ambiance was also impressive. Definitely swanky but down to earth vibes. I got the rasberry beret cocktail and it was different but fabulous. Not sure how else to describe it. It was refreshing. We got the tiger prawns and it was presented as a toasta, which had a great flavor and texture. The apple salad was also refreshing and a good portion to share between 2 people. The broccolini was cooked perfectly and my favorite after the tiger prawns was the Dungeness crab pasta. It had uni on top! The uni elevated the dish, and honestly there were a good amount of crab meat in the dish. Overall well balanced and creamy. The 2 of us left full and satisfied. Highly recommend this place for a date night. There's also plenty of street parking when we went but there is also valet for $15.

They…read morehave a tiki marketplace several times a year, and this one was held on a Sunday afternoon from noon to 6pm. It takes place mostly in their rear patio area and parking lot, but a good number of vendors were also in an adjacent air conditioned event room. They have a very small parking lot, but it was occupied by vendors during this event. Do not park in the parking lots of the adjacent businesses, as we were warned when entering the Tonga Hut that cars get towed regularly. There's plenty of street parking in the nearby neighborhood. Entering from the rear, there is a good sized covered patio with around eight benches. We went inside to check it out and grab a drink. The interior is fairly small with four good sized booths, a lounge area with a large J-shaped couch with several small tables, and around ten seats at the bar. It is dimly lit with some basic tiki décor, and has an old-school feel. They had a fixed cocktail menu for this event which is understandable. We stood in line at the bar for about ten minutes, got our drinks and went out to the patio. The bartender was friendly, and didn't seem flustered by the high volume of patrons. I had the Horned Beast O' The Celtic Sea (Oceanus Hibernicus Irish Malt, Jamacian Rum, House Made Falernum & Orgeat, Peach, Citrus, Dash of Cherry Heering, $13). She had the Leprechaun Grog (Three Rums, Lime, Grapefruit, Honey, Spice, Soda, $14). Both drinks were good, were served in souvenir plastic cups, and were a bargain at $13 to $14. If you ordered a drink containing Oceanus whiskey, the bartender gave you a gold coin and you could exchange it with the Oceanus representative on the patio for a free T-shirt. Durango Tacos was setup near the rear entrance for food. We had four tacos (two carne asada and two veggie), and they were good and reasonably priced. This was the first tiki marketplace we have attended. There were around twenty vendors with a good assortment of art work, tiki mugs, tiki clothing, tiki décor, and other miscellaneous items. I purchased a few nice tiki shirts which were a steal at $20 and $25. The vendors and visitors were all very friendly and in a festive mood. We hung out for about ninety minutes and had a good time. We will return at some point to try their regular cocktail menu and see what it's like on a non-event night.

Tonga hut is my favorite local tiki bar, but it is such a hit or miss when I go!…read more On a weekend, you could easily walk in with no problem or be hit with a one-hour wait. Sometimes they have servers, other times you order at the bar. The last time I went, there was a long line as only one bartender was making drinks, yikes! Despite that, the drinks are solid, reasonably priced, and strong! They have a variety of drinks and nightly specials. Each bartender also has their own "secret menu" specials that only they can make. The decor is very on theme, and they have a fire pit and heaters outside for when it is chilly.
