(More like 10 stars out of 5.) Brunch & Sip on Ventura is easily one of my favorite new spots in Studio City. There honestly isn't another restaurant on this stretch of Ventura doing anything close to this. The food is incredible, the service is amazing, and the entire experience just feels elevated. What I love most is that you get two completely different vibes in one place. Downstairs has a moody, chill atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying your meal and conversation. Then you head upstairs to the rooftop and it completely shifts into a fun, party vibe. They even have live music up there sometimes, which makes it such a great place to hang out. The valet parking is a huge plus, the staff is genuinely welcoming, and every time I've been, everything has been on point. Can't wait to come back and see what else this place has to offer. Wow if I could rate this place 10 stars I would. Absolutely loved it here. Upon arrival we were greeted my valet which I believe is 10$. The hostesses at the door were so nice & welcoming, Gretch & Lidia have the greatest customer service. Lidia was our server & she was very attentive and very helpful with the foods on the menu. We all enjoyed our food. Drinks were amazing also. We had some mimosas and a margarita tree and between us 3 we shared & it was the perfect amount of alcohol. Really disappointing experience. I came here with my family to celebrate my mom's birthday, and it ended up putting a damper on what was supposed to be a special day. We waited over 60 minutes while multiple tables that arrived 20 minutes after us were served their food first. The only things we received were one entrée and a side of potatoes and fries, while the rest of our order was nowhere to be found. Our waiter was very kind and apologized, even offering us a free drink, so I don't blame him. But after not eating all day, it was frustrating to sit there for nearly an hour watching everyone around us enjoy their meals while we had nothing. I felt especially bad for my mom, who spent her birthday sitting there hungry instead of enjoying her brunch. Choosing this restaurant for her birthday was unfortunately a mistake, and it really put a damper on the celebration. read more

Brunch N Sip is a great addition to the Valley, and judging by the line out the door, I'm clearly not the only one who thinks so. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was there. The space is beautiful, the decor is on point, and the music pulled everything together. My ratings: D'USSÉ Lamb Chops - 10/10 I usually don't like lamb because of the gamey taste, but whatever they do here completely gets rid of it. The D'USSÉ glaze was incredible, they lit the whole plate on fire right at the table, and even the potatoes stayed crispy the entire meal. Shrimp & Grits - 10/10 Hands down my favorite dish. The grits were rich and creamy, the sauce was so good I wanted to take some home, and the shrimp had the perfect char. Crab Cakes - 9.5/10 Crispy on the outside, full of flavor, and packed with crab. D'USSÉ Drink Tower - 10/10 If you're going with a group, this is the move. Perfectly mixed and definitely part of the experience. First Class & Petty Cash - 10/10 This cocktail was fire. Smooth, well-balanced, and one of those drinks that's dangerous because it goes down way too easy. What I love most is that they're bringing brunch culture to the Valley every day of the week, not just Saturdays and Sundays. Welcome to the valley!! The food good that I'd come back just to try more items on the menu. Everything we had was delicious, and there were so many other dishes I already want to order next time. Except the breakfast burrito was interesting, it was technically a "wet burrito" but the middle of the burrito was facing up and the ends of the burrito were sitting in the sauce. After we asked for extra sauce (since it was at the bottom ends of the burrito) we soon realized when the bill came it was an additional $3 for a mini side of sauce. That also look 10 minutes to get to our table prior to asking for it. The drinks definitely didn't disappoint either, the frozen margarita tower was such a fun touch (HIGH ALCOHOL FAVOR, the seasonal flavors got masked by the tequila and citrus) and a huge hit with our group! Also the champagne bottle order, that comes with 4 different juices. We sat outside on the ground floor patio and loved the vibe, but I noticed they also have indoor tables, bar seating, kitchen counter seating, and an upstairs patio with its own bar. I already know I'm requesting the upstairs patio next time with the DJ!! The service was great. Everyone was so friendly, attentive, but ahead of sitting down we had reminded the waiter that we were celebrating a birthday and there was zero acknowledgment of it. That was a bummer. I forgot to leave my review but I stopped by for brunch this past Father's Day. I had just came across a post of them on IG when a mutual friend posted their grand opening I believe it was. Being that it was in the valley and I've been getting asked about brunch spots; I did my due diligence to see what they were talmbout lol. There is valet and street parking available. I believe a lot of people parked behind the building in what appeared to be somewhat of an alley. Some may have even parked in the shopping center across from Firestone. I parked on the street where the shopping center was and walked down to the restaurant. Upon walking up I immediately was feeling the vibes. It was a Sunday, so a lot of Black Folks were looking their best. Which I have to applaud. There's patio seating out front prior to entering the restaurant. Appeared to be full as Peale were making reservations and waiting to be seated. I was able to walk in and get escorted to a bar section right in front of the kitchen; where I was then able to see the chef and cooks cooking. The view complemented the vibe. The ambiance was extraordinary. The second floor is accompanied by another bar amongst tables, a beautiful view and a DJ. Now, I didn't receive the best service when it came to receiving my first drink and my food. I ordered a "King Status" which is their version of a Sidecar. The drink was great but it took about 15-20 mins to receive it. I ordered the lamp chops with potatoes for there and the catfish and grits to go. I was hoping I was still going to have my drink to sip along with it but unfortunately, I finished it because it took too long for the meal to come out. I then ordered the "Birds of a Feather" to kill some more time as I waited. By the time I received my order; it was brought out to me by a different young lady who had packed everything to go. At this point I was really disappointed with the service. She then asked me if I wanted her to put it on a plate and I declined. The lamb chops and potatoes were great in my opinion. They were flavorful and seasoned pretty well. Nor were they tough. The potatoes were seasoned well also. However, the catfish was fried in what appeared to be dirty grease or oil. The fish wasn't overcooked but appeared to look as if it was. I forgot to take a pic of the grits but they were really good. Despite the lack of no cheese nor chives, I still found them to be enjoyable with the catfish. I shared my thoughts with the waitress. She was very understanding. She also provided clarity as to why I wasn't receiving the best service. As a way to make amends she was able to remove both of my drinks. So I got to drink for free in a sense. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner or one of the owners, Brandon. Very cool guy indeed. Much respect. He was more than open to hearing about my experience. He took accountability and apologized on his staff's behalf. He too also provided clarity to the situation and gave me his number. Overall, I enjoyed the drinks. I liked the food. The ambiance and vibes were great. I'm a definitely return for another visit and keep sharing this spot with others. Just because I didn't have the best first time experience doesn't mean someone else wouldn't and that's doesn't mean my next visit will be the same. Keep a positive attitude. A friend and I dined here on a weekday early morning. We arrived at approximately 8:30 which is great because the place opens at 8. There was only one other couple in the restaurant. We were promptly seated inside. Our waiter Scotty was very polite. Had a great relaxed professional demeanor and was very helpful with the menu. We ordered the -blackened salmon and shrimp 9/10 (the salmon tasted better than the shrimp) -Catfish and grits 10/10 (great flavor profile if you eat them both together) -fish and chips 8/20 ( fish was great) -crab cakes with a very tasty tartar sauce10/10 (loved! full of crab perfectly cooked) -Fried chicken biscuit 9/10 (really enjoyed the sandwich definitely enough for two. The hot honey syrup was a great touch. The gravy was amazing. I ended up taking a separate container of gravy home with me. so delicious! Rosemary garlic potatoes -10/10 (fresh crispy and perfectly seasoned) For drinks we ordered: Yesss Kween 8/10 Butterfly water 8/10 We ordered a couple of glasses of Prosecco to end our dining experience, which was the perfect touch! Our waiter was very helpful throughout the entire dining experience. He was very comfortable with casual conversation and made sure he checked up on us throughout. Came to a celebratory brunch here last Sunday. A beautiful location filled with beautiful people. Laughter and smiles flowing...along with the drinks. They make their Bloody Mary mix in house, therefore I had to play. It was good. The olives, celery and bacon are a nice touch. But I think next time I must inquire about what kind of vodka is being used. The music and decor....tight. Now down to the most important part of Brunch....the food. Our table ordered... The fried lobster tail served lemon ricotta pancakes. Pancakes Grits Crab cakes A lobster roll And three sides of chicken wings...over time. I don't really eat chicken but I heard the praise and caught a whiff of the glaze ...so I tried one. The last batch was overcooked...maybe that was the universes's way of telling me I shouldn't have had chicken. Consistency is key. But the glaze is so darn good...it's even good when it's a little charred. I was told the grits were good. They looked delish but I didn't try them. The pancakes were good. I'm tough on pancakes so I'll leave it there. It's hard to meet the high expectations of what a lemon ricotta pancake should feel and taste like. I personally wasn't a fan. The crab cakes were a tad too earthy and herby for me. I like my crab cakes, crabby. The tarragon was strong in these ones. Whew. Now ...the dish I would not do again....the lobster "roll". It should be called Splash of lobster on mini brioche bricks. I didn't want to be the one...so I asked for salt and pepper and popped those little hard bites in my mouth. But...no. NO. I must add, I'm gonna go back and try other dishes. So I'm not done here. But honestly I wouldn't even accept the lobster "roll" as a free appetizer. It oozed disappointment. read more

Dining at this restaurant was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Watching the Executive Chef and Sous Chef work their culinary magic right before my eyes was truly captivating. I ordered the Blackened Salmon and Shrimp (the rosemary potatoes and sauté kale was incredible), requesting my salmon well done. Despite that, it remained perfectly juicy and cooked to perfection. Kristin, my waitress, was absolutely magnificent , attentive to every detail with a warm smile that never faded. Her positive energy truly elevated the entire dining experience and is undoubtedly a key part of what makes this restaurant a true gem. The shrimp and grits were good too, but I'd love to see the gravy dialed back a bit on the salt so the crab flavor can really shine on its own. A few dishes also took longer to come out, but since we were sharing everything, it wasn't a big deal. Hopefully that's just part of the normal new-restaurant kinks getting worked out. The food is fine, but our service was very disappointing. Our group of four was excited to order several options to try, so we ordered a variety: lobster mac and cheese, a side of fries to go with it, a salmon entree, and an order of banana fosters pancakes, so we would have a fun selection of savory and sweet. So then, the first item to arrive at the table was something we didn't order: lobster pancakes. This is neither lobster mac and cheese nor banana fosters pancakes. We immediately pointed this out, and our server had the most bizarre explanation... You see, she said, they're out of lobster mac and cheese... so the kitchen just decided to make this instead. What? Why wouldn't she tell us they were out of mac and cheese so we could have made another selection, instead of making us something we didn't want? She said we could keep it and eat it and she wouldn't charge us for it, which is fine, but again, we didn't order it and it kinda threw off the whole meal because we didn't really have any use for the fries or for other banana fosters pancakes that came next. The lobster pancakes were okay, kind of a weird flavor combination, certainly not what we wanted. If they had just told us they were out of lobster mac and cheese, we would have been able to order something else that we did want. I hope this review encourages them not to do this to other customers. If you're out of something, let the customer know instead of making them something they don't want. read more

Brand new spot that operates as a perfect brunch spot, lunch spot, and lounge. The drinks are phenomenal and very fairly priced for the high-level of execution. Each cocktail is its own adventure, but I would recommend starting with a Hugo Spritz. When in doubt asked a friendly bartenders, who know the menu very well. The interior is inspired by a tropical mahogany lined lounge and a DJ booth on the second floor shows promising entertainment. First time eating here today and I love the ambience and vibe. We needed this in the Studio City/Noho area. LA rarely can keep a good thing, so I will definitely be back more and more to support. We had the lobster & pancakes (with raspberry butter), the shrimp and grits and a few wings on the side. The food was delicious. The fried lobster on the pancakes was possibly the best I've had. The pancakes were soft and I wish mine was crispier. Next time, I will ask for the pancakes to be plan without the raspberry butter. Only because I like basics. The raspberry butter was a little too rich (sweet) for me in the morning. The shrimp & grits were good too. I could've used a sprinkle of cheese that could melt, outside of the Parmesan crisp that was in the bowl. The sauce (chilli like gravy) had a nice kick to it and went well with the grits. The WINGS! We ordered a side of wings just so we could try them with the pancake & those wings need to be added to the menu as an appetizer! The wings were amazing and I will be back to try those again along with the lamb chops, crab cakes and more. I appreciate a restaurant that seasons its food well and hooks up the protein so it pops in your mouth. I love that this is a black owned restaurant. Was surprised that the staff had very few black employees present on my visit. There were several employees standing around so as a former manager, I would find something for them to do so they aren't just chatting and looking at customers. Maybe socialize with the customers to make the place feel more welcoming and engaging. A well dressed brotha walked through a few times and he may have been the manager or owner, as he was dressed in a suit and looked like a boss. But he didn't great any guess or say much to anyone so idk who he was or what he was doing in the kitchen and behind the bar. The whole staff could use some customer service training just so they know how to engage customers and work the room. Our food didn't come at the same time so one of use was finished eating before the other got their plate. Things like that matter because one person can't eat while the other person's food gets cold if they wait. UPDATE: I enjoyed the food the first visit. Was about to return to try more items and I noticed that the food prices have increased significantly within 2 weeks. The Lobster & Pancakes I reluctantly paid $38 for my first visit are now $48...NOT WORTH IT! Was going to go back to try the Lobster Mac & Cheese but they've already changed the prices and it's gonna put them out of business like most new restaurants that come to the area and close their doors within a year. I had high hopes for this spot but I wouldn't bring friends to a spot trying to rob them for just okay food. read more

Just watched the valet grab a car from a metered parking spot by another business next door. So they are stealing other businesses parking opportunities by offering valet then just parking cars at a meter. Reporting the valet service and the business to the city as this is illegal. Plus you valet your car then they make the most illegal u turn on a crazy Ventura blvd with your car to just park it right where you could park your car yourself. Robbery. Took this business over four years to open and it won't last very long with these tactics and once the other business in the area start reporting them for not having a valet permit and misusing valet rules. read more

I've been here twice now and I do really like it, but there are definitely areas that need improvement. My first time there was opening weekend and my only complaint was that the girls at the host stand weren't very friendly and that was still the same this weekend. I came for my birthday this weekend and when we arrived I let them know my cousin was coming from far away and stuck in traffic and they refused to sit us because our full party wasn't there. I said it could be at least a half hour before she got there and they rudely said sorry can't sit you until she is here. I understand that as a rule, but the girls were just not friendly about it at all. If it weren't for the fact I already had people there I would have left and found somewhere else. Once we got inside the service was awful from start to finish. Took a very long time to even order our food, and then they kept bringing the wrong food to the table. They knew we were there for a birthday but it doesn't seem like they do anything to acknowledge birthdays. Overall my experience for my birthday was not a good one unfortunately. I do like the atmosphere so I will likely give one last chance but there definitely needs to be some changes especially with the attitude of the host staff. read more

Tried Brunch & Sip out for brunch... obviously ;) on Father's Day with a friend. We arrived around 12:45 PM w/out a reservation. Valet was open, they had plenty of attendants working, & parking was only $10, so that was an easy decision. When we walked up to the host stand, there was a larger party ahead of us, probably 5 or 6 people. There were two hostesses working, & both were fully engaged w/ that group. Instead of wondering why one wasn't helping us, I actually appreciated seeing them both actively listening, answering questions, & making sure the party's concerns were heard. It was a small detail, but it immediately gave me a positive first impression. Once everything was sorted out, one of the hostesses turned her attention to us & happily escorted us upstairs to the bar, which is exactly where we wanted to sit. We were greeted promptly, had sparkling water & menus set down right away, & enjoyed an amazing breeze coming through the upstairs patio. What I really enjoyed about this place wasn't just the cleanliness, food, drinks, or overall vibe, it was the flow. I'm someone who notices everything around me, & because it was Father's Day, I was honestly a little nervous that brunch might feel chaotic. If you've ever gone out on Mother's Day or Valentine's Day, you know exactly what I mean. Even as the restaurant filled up, the energy never felt frantic. Everything felt organized & intentional, which isn't easy on a holiday. The most overwhelming thing, in my opinion, was the menu, & that's only because the options are endless. Shoutout to King, the Beverage Director, for making sure we were taken care of. Dante was our bartender & timed everything perfectly from greeting to ordering. When we asked about the menu, he walked us through each section, explaining portion sizes, popular dishes, & asking questions to figure out what we were actually looking for. He never pushed the most expensive items, just tailored the experience to us. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes w/ lobster, while my friend ordered the French toast & chicken wings. Both dishes were served w/ WhistlePig bourbon maple syrup, & the wings came w/ a side of hot honey. For drinks, she started w/ the Dubai Chocolate Espresso Martini while I ordered the Cognac Matcha Latte. Both were rich, balanced, & incredibly good. You can absolutely tell they're using quality ingredients, especially when it comes to the chocolate & matcha. Our drinks arrived first & the food followed shortly after. Considering how busy they were, I never felt like we waited long. The pacing felt just right. She ordered the Canyon Bloom w/ mezcal & sage, which was refreshing & surprisingly unique. I'd describe it as a kiwi peach mojito. She also tried the Mezzi Biosh, a passionfruit martini w/ a Tajín rim. As someone who generally doesn't care for mezcal cocktails, I have to admit they make them very approachable here. As for the food, the portions were generous. As a slow eater, I appreciated that I never felt rushed. Dante seemed to understand the difference between someone taking their time & someone who was finished eating, which made a difference. The pancakes were fluffy, the lobster was perfectly prepared & already out of the shell, & the entire dish felt thoughtfully executed right down to the edible orchid on top. Before we left, I ordered the Spring Shrimp Salad to go, & it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the experience. The shrimp was Cajun grilled & absolutely divine. What I appreciated even more was the attention to detail. Dante made sure the order was fired closer to when we were leaving, so it wasn't sitting around while we finished brunch. You can tell a lot about a restaurant by how they handle takeout, & this was done perfectly. The salad was packed in its own container, the shrimp was packaged separately, & the dressing was on the side. Everything arrived home fresh & properly composed. It's a small detail, but it speaks volumes about the level of care they put into the overall guest experience, even after you've paid the check. As we stood up to leave, I suddenly wanted to chug a Diet Coke & my friend needed a gulp of water. Without hesitation, Dante made it happen & joked about it. The DJ was spot on. Great music without overwhelming conversation. Overall, this was a great brunch experience, especially on a holiday weekend. The establishment looks amazing you can tell the owners really care about their brand and are committed to providing an amazing experience. We tried a bunch of different entrees and everything was so delicious, from the catfish and grits, to the all American breakfast. As for the cocktails, they seemed to have acquired a master mixologist because the cocktails were some of the best I've ever had. If you haven't had a chance to try Brunch & Sip, I highly recommend you do and do it quickly because soon there will be line to get in is sure to be up and down The Blvd. read more

This is a new restaurant in the neighborhood I've been eyeing for several months and couldn't wait for it to open. Finding out the opening date, I hurriedly made my reservation. After arriving, it was all downhill. I was escorted to the bar that is about 6-7 feet from touching the kitchen glass/wall and on the end where they entered to take the dirty dishes to the kitchen. My back was facing the restaurant. It was also very uncomfortable to sit. I said to the hostess, I made a reservation, why am I being seated at a bar for Saturday brunch, as I would never sit at a bar to eat a meal. She stated with attitude, they were over booked and told me, 'it's nice to experience something new' and walked away. I asked for a manager, and the bar manager came over. I told him how excited I was about the new restaurant in the area, had made a reservation, so why was I seated at the bar, and you have several available tables? He simply said, I'm sorry and nothing further. He made no effort whatsoever about trying to please a new customer. Therefore, I walked out! Who wants to have a Saturday brunch facing the kitchen wall you can nearly touch? It is obvious this place doesn't want people eating alone in their restaurant for brunch. They should advertise ... "brunch is for 2 or more people only." There was another female sitting next to me, stating she also had made a reservation for a table, but seated her at the bar. There were 3 empty tables, the restaurant closes at 4:00 pm, and it was 1:45 pm. My guest, at the last minute couldn't make it, so there had to be a table for me. I understand it is all about making the money, but there is a way to treat customers coming to your establishment. The only other review I can give is the music was extremely loud, and the hostess which seated me had a very nasty attitude for an opening establishment. I will not go this place again, nor will any of my neighbors looking for a new local place to go for brunch. I took my husband for Father's Day brunch and he's ready to go back! The ambiance is impeccable with the DJ spinning upstairs and the food and presentation is outstanding! It's definitely a vibe that we will be returning to. And Chef Lindsey is a treasure. 10 of 10!! read more
