Me and some guys were trying to figure out what the issue was for almost two weeks. They had it for two days, got the problem figured out, got my starter relay replaced the next day, and fixed my window buttons without even charging me for them. I learned about Dale and Ron's from my Grandfather who has been taking his cars to Rick for over 15 years. He has had nothing but good things to say about Rick, and the business that he runs over at Dale and Ron's. So, when I needed work done on my car, my Granddad gratefully headed over to Dale and Ron's to talk with Rick about what we could do. This was about 4 years ago. Since that time, I have been to see Rick multiple times, for a variety of reasons. Every time I go in, he greets me with a smile on his face, and a shake of the oil soaked hand. I have to admit, Rick is a bit old fashioned when it comes to his office. The office is small, and lacks one thing that most people just assume come with any office now a days. Rick doesn't use a computer. Shocking I know. Some how he makes it work though. You have to be sure to give him a call, and he writes everything down in a notebook that he keeps on his desk. So, to the reason I am writing this today. I have recently purchased a new car, well recently being a year ago, and have yet to take it in for any kind f service. Lately there have been some funny things happening to it, so without going into detail, I'll just say that I needed to take it in. I have learned over the course of time not to take a car into the dealer, unless it is absolutely necessary. However, there in lies the problem. I now drive a Saab, and for any of you who know anything about the darn machines should know that they are virtually impossible to get work done on them. To make a complicated story short, Saab was bought by Saturn which went out of business a few years ago, so now its extremely difficult to get parts. Additionally, those Swedes went against the grain when designing their car, cause no one knows how to work on them. All of this being said, I called up Rick and explained the situation and he told me to drop it off the next morning and he would do everything in his power to get it fixed. I showed up this morning around 8:15 AM to drop the car off, and there was Rick with a cup of coffee and a smiling face. He greeted me by name, asked for the key, and with a shake of the hand told me he would give me a call by this afternoon. Now, for the shop. It is a bit out of the way to be honest. You have to drive past Mass, and down into the old part of Lawrence. If you didnt know it was there, you wouldnt find it. You have to hop onto Connecticut and then follow it until you hit 8th and see the "dead end" sign. Its a quaint building, with cars parked all around the place, waiting either to be looked at, or picked up. The man has a great reputation, as evident by the number of cars that pack the place every time I happen by. In the past, when taking my car over to Dale and Ron's I have gotten reasonable and accurate quotes. Rick has definitely helped me out of a pickle or two in the past. If you're needing some work done on your mode of transportation, give Dale and Ron's a call and set up an appointment to drop it off. We've been taking our vehicles (sedan and truck) to Dale & Ron's for 5 years now and the service has always been excellent. The quotes are always spot on, the final price always matches the quote or is even lower than the quoted cost. Rick (manager, owner?) who mans the office as well as (quite literally) getting his hands dirty, is incredibly helpful and polite. He saves the parts that are replaced to show you what was done and he'll even pull out a schematic of the vehicle to explain where the work was done, why, and how it affects the performance of the vehicle. The staff has never been anything but helpful. They are always busy which is a testament to their work. Yet, somehow, their turnaround time is more than reasonable. Never had to leave a vehicle with them for more than a day or two at the most. Usually can get the auto back same day. They've never done more work than was necessary. If a subsequent repair is discovered, they always call to inform you of what needs to be done and how much it will cost. They do not perform extra services without client consent. I highly recommend Dale and Ron's Auto Service. You can trust them, I do. read more

I've been driving my car since it was brand new in 2007, and ever since I had the clutch replaced here, it had not handled the same. The car shudders when I try to take off, no matter how much gas I give it. Don't take your car here. Update- I've had the clutch replaced again, and it no longer shudders at me. I was in desperate need of an oil change when I came into Dale and Ron's shop. One of the owners explained that I couldn't skip ahead other cars they were working on, which was fine and was asked to leave the car and go into town for an hour or so and when I returned they not only gave me the oil change I needed but gave me necessary fluids for my vehicle to get back on the road and even gave me a free diagnostic of my vehicle to make sure I knew what was wrong with my vehicle. Without Dale and Ron's impeccable customer service I would've been stuck in Kansas but they made sure I was able to get to my destination. read more

During a busy time he still took my car in and made an appointment close to date. They could all tell nothing was going right for me that day and they still didnt try to over price me or rip me off. Last summer, I had Dale and Ron's Auto Service repair my air conditioner. The original quote was $750. The final bill was $1100. The part ended up being more expensive than they originally thought, and the mechanics accidentally broke a piece adjacent to my AC compressor when working on the car. I had to pay for the part they broke, and for the associated labor to replace it. When I complained to Rick about the difference between the quote and the final cost, he was dismissive and unapologetic. When I picked up my car, as I was paying, Rick informed me that although they had "repaired" my AC, it wouldn't actually work until I took it to an automotive electrician to have it re-wired. This was the first time the electrical issue had been mentioned. It ended up costing an additional $150. My car is 14 years old. It's worth less than $3000. If I had known it was going to cost $1250, (and if I didn't have to pay for the mechanics damage), I would not have invested so much money to have it repaired. To top it all off, 2 months after the1-year warranty expired, my AC broke again. Of course, it happened on a day when the temperature was 104 degrees. I was supposed to drive the car out of town that evening. So, I stopped by the shop to ask if they could take a quick look and tell me if it just needed coolant, or if it was a mechanical issue. As soon as I told Rick I didn't have an appointment, he rudely cut me off and told me I've have to make an appointment for next week. When I told him "nevermind" and walked out of the office, he followed me out to my car and berated me for coming on a Friday afternoon at "close to 5" (it was 4:15) and asking them to look at my car without an appointment. I've since learned from another mechanic that the part I paid Dale and Ron's to repair is broken again. Bottom line - this mechanic does not provide accurate quotes, performs shoddy workmanship, and the office manager is rude. read more

I was needing an oil change for my truck and had picked this place to go to I called ahead and was going to ask if they were able to get it in today and how much the price was. After asking what the price for an oil change would be I was given a price and then the person on the phone immediately said if I was just calling around to get the cheapest oil change to go to Jiffy Lube and not waste people's time, that is in no way what I was doing I was just trying to find out how much I was going to pay for an oil change but after the rude customer service I received I will not be giving any business to this place. read more

Our daughter who was traveling through Lawrence had her car die. AAA had Dale and Ron's on their approved list so we agreed to have it towed there. Turned out the nut on the battery cable came loose and all it took was a few turns of the wrench. For their time to diagnose and fix they said no charge. This is a good sign of a honest shop. I genuinely feel I didn't matter to them at all. I explained the issues that I felt my car had to Rick and once he checked it out for himself he quoted me about 1K dollars of repairs. I informed him of the things that I wanted them to repair now and the other issues I would worry about later. He informed me that that was not something that they were going to do and told me that I should just come and pick up my car as soon as possible. I felt like as soon as I said I only wanted certain things fixed, his entire attitude changed. They made me feel like they were only after money and weren't sensitive to my situation at all. I work in customer service daily and that truly wasn't a way any business should make a customer feel. Upon initial contact, Rick informed me that I wouldn't be charged anything until they got back to me with the repairs needed and until I agreed to have them fixed. Well turns out that was false. After he told me to pick up my car, and this is my opinion mind you, I felt like he just wanted to get some money from me. He charged me $70 because he said that they spent a lot of time figuring out what was wrong with my car. I was upset because we had a verbal agreement that informing me of the issues my car had was not something they would charge me for. He said that to me on multiple occasions so I was very confused obviously. And if I paid for him to tell me what was wrong with my car, I would have at least expected that he would have done so but he didn't. All in all, if you have an old car and a limited budget I suggest you not go their. As to their quality of services, I can't comment on because they didn't/wouldn't fix anything. So I took my car to Lawrence Automotive Diagnostics and got the repairs I needed. My car has been doing just fine ever since. What lousy customer service they have!! read more
