    My receipt

THIS WAS a 5 * shop. Before Danny Fox retired, everything was always more than perfect. My grandmother and I used his services for years when I went to college, and now that my own son is looking for a car, I bought one from an auction and took it for an automotive diagnostic before spending a ton of money on it. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. First, I did not receive a printed sheet detailing the results of the automotive diagnostics, which, at $187, should be provided and explained. (you have to request it now and it can be emailed or texted to you) Pricing: As a teacher and a AAA customer, I have always received a discount,... but not on this trip. It's only on labor - up to $75. The preventative maintenance inspection said it was completed. When I got my car home, there was 0 coolant, a low tire, low power steering, and antifreeze levels--- I KNOW that Danny would not have let the car leave the shop like that. It used to be worth the money and the wait to get your car into the shop, but I probably will not return.

I've taken both of my vehicles here several times. Service is always quality and timely, and anyone I speak to is both friendly and helpful.

I noticed that this new store had opened and it hadn't been there very long and so I decided that I would go in and see if I can get an oil change done. First of all of this location was built where a bank used to sit and unless you live in the town, you're not gonna know that it's there. But it's located on the corner of 27th and Iowa and its very visual. Access to the facility is very easy to get to and it is not crowded. First of all they have a sign in the front of their building that says oil change in 15 minutes. I was skeptical when I saw the sign because I've never had an oil change done that fast, but I went ahead and pulled into the line. I was immediately greeted by a blonde female and I was impressed that I was looking at her uniform and I seen all the dirt and oil on it knowing that she's working as a mechanic and making a decent salary then did my heart good to see a woman working there. She greeted me and was very friendly and told me where to park. there were five other cars ahead of me. One negative thing did happen was that they made me change lanes four times. They had me move from Lane one to lane three, then from Lane three to Lane two and then eventually made me move back to Lane one, then they made me back out so that someone in lane two could get in front of me in Lane one. I know that's a lot and and it was extremely frustrating and that's why that was an issue for me. As far as I could see there were six mechanics all working the three lanes not to mention the people who were under your car doing the oil change so they were well staffed and well-equipped. The place was clean. No trash or debris, it was spotless. They all helped each other and worked in teams of two. Most of all they were engaging. they kept talking with me. I had a guy who told me everything that I need to know. He showed me what the level in my car was, showed me the filter, everything I needed to know he informed me of . in the past, I had oil changes done and nothing was never communicated with me, until it's time to pay the bill so I did feel that this place was a step above other places in that respect. Now I do believe the oil change is a little expensive but I don't think it has to do with the company so to speak. I think it's just inflation in general. And they have to stay competitive with other businesses that do the same, so I get it. Overall I would recommend going to this Valvoline and even though they promised they can get it done in 15 minutes I was there probably 35 minutes but even that is better than sitting in a dealership waiting for hours for a simple oil change

This last Monday I needed service before leaving on a trip. I arrived mid morning, and left because all the bays were full, and there were three cars waiting in each lane. I returned mid afternoon to find the same situation. Since I needed the service done that day I got in line. After 30 minutes, they came out and needed to reposition cars, and asked me to change lanes. After which a vehicle with no driver, which was probably from a rental car agency sat in the bay while all the other lanes moved slowly forward. Cars which arrived 15-30 minutes after I arrived, moved in, were serviced, and left. By the time I finally got in, I had waited almost an hour and a half. I was then given an up charge for an extra quart of synthetic oil. This was almost $15. I was so thoroughly disappointed in almost every aspect of my visit. The long wait, the fact I was placed behind a driverless car which was slow walked through the service, and finally what felt like was an exorbitant up charge for my extra quart of oil.

Midas paid to replace the work due to their previous mechanic that worked there messing them up. A few months later the front rotors and brakes started doing the same thing (all under a year of initial work) When asking a simple question about how I already needed new rotars and brake pads in the front, Tony asked me why I was looking at him like he was dumb and became very hostile. He was very rude due to the fact that the time before Midas had replaced everything that was messed up and things that got messed up due to the bad mechanic work (not while Tony was manager). He kept saying I don't know why we replaced all this last time for free! Making me feel bad that Midas took responsibility when I brought my car in for a brake check, which he knew NOTHING about because he was not even at this location. Called me a liar about how long my car had been making the noise. During the visit I paid for the service I received. I was called 30 minutes after leaving by a regional manager I believe, that they would be refunding me because it was all still under warranty! A few hours later I called and politely asked for a new invoice and was told to "Do not return" by the manger Tony. What kind of manager acts like a child to their customers? So pretty much due to the fact that Tony was upset that I had questions and the previous mechanic had messed things up and Midas paid for the mistakes I was treated like I was a piece of shit by Tony. And I got charged $369 when it was all under warranty. I hope he doesn't try to scam anyone else out of money because he's having a bad day, or for no reason has an issue with them.

Apparently, they can't afford the rent and now have to tack on undisclosed fees for every customer to help them pay the rent. This fee equals 10% of the labor charge and is disclosed in relatively small print at the bottom of their main sign. Firestone = you can always find new ways to gouge the customer. They gave me a LONG list of recommendations. *Tires - they said they were 10,000 miles past warranty. I found this hard to believe since my paperwork says they have another 10,000 miles to go. Also, when I had it in just 30 days ago for a road-hazard repair, they told me then I had 10,000 miles to go. Anyway, they tried to talk me into 1,000 of new tires when I have plenty of tread left. *They said my belts were going out. Cracked they said. I got home and examined them. They are fine. Trust me, I'm a commercial driver and know how to inspect belts. *They said air filters were bad. Checked - they are fine. They said my oil was low. So I drove to Walmart and bought a 5 gallon container. Imagine my disappointment when I go to add oil and find the level is 3/4 of the way up to the full line, way above the low line. Apparently, they are grasping at straws to get my money, especially considering I just paid them for an oil change 45 days ago. *I will give them this one. They said I should replace my brake fluid - the ridiculous recommendation that auto manufacturers are tacking on to all their vehicles. They must get a kick-back from the brake fluid companies. As anyone who knows vehicles understand, when the fluid gets murky, or you have mushy brakes, or brake fade - then sure, replace the brake fluid. I have a pickup that has gone 25 years without a brake fluid replacement. It still brakes fine. But I really can't blame Firestone for that recommendation. Watch out for these guys. They will recommend countless unneeded repairs. Make sure you know how to judge for yourself, or go somewhere else!

At the end of her winter break, we noticed oil leaking, so to make it easier on all of us, we suggested she go to the Lawrence location, as she is going to school at KU. She took her car to the service department and was given a long list of things which needed to be repaired, some of which were oil gasket covers and spark plugs. She called my husband to call in to the service department to discuss which items would need to be fixed, none of which were shown to her or explained, but since we were out of town, we proceeded with a couple of repairs. That bill was approximately $1,000. A week after she had her car repaired, she came home, and we noticed there was still oil leaking, so we made another appointment for March 31st at 8:30 am. I drove the car from Kansas City to Lawrence and met with the service department rep. My daughter picked me up in another vehicle, and I left the facility. At approximately 12:30, I went back to check on the status of the car, and no one had taken a look at it, despite my appointment being at 8:30, and they knew I was staying in town to see what was wrong with it. I left again at that point, and about 20 minutes later, I received a call from the service department asking me to come back, so I left what I was doing to go back. At that point, he gave me a list of repairs that needed to be done totaling $3,300+, and one of them being the replacement of the oil pan, as it was cracked. I asked him questions about this and asked if this could have been what was wrong in the first place. He said he had no idea. Then I looked back at the documentation from the first time my daughter brought in the car, and it stated, "Customer says Oil Gaskets are Leaking." I can assure you no one in my family would have said that or known that would even be an issue. So I paid another bill of $190 to have someone "diagnose" the car, and I left without paying for any of the suggested repairs, as I feel as though I had been lied to and was not pleased with having to wait five hours past my appointment to have someone look at my car for the first time. I brought the car back to Kansas City and took it to our local mechanic. He did replace the oil pan, and I would bet that was why it was leaking in the first place. There is no documentation that anything was wrong with the gasket covers. No video or pictures, to my knowledge. He also informed me, when I asked about the other items on the list of suggested repairs, that we were being scammed.

We recently purchased a 2021 Ford Explorer Limited from Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence and a 2024 GMC Sierra AT4 from a competing dealer in the area and this experience wasn't even close to the latter. The salesman was great during the sale and we negotiated on a list of 'we owe you' where Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence was going to complete repairs on sensors and a cracked windshield as part of the deal. We thought great - we can just bring it back in and it would maybe be a week at max but that didn't happen. We were told the repairs should only take a couple of days when it was dropped off. However, we went back and forth with the dealership over repairs and found out it was sent to the Laird Noller Ford of Lawrence dealership for repairs to the sensors without notifying us. This was also a surprise to the service manager at the Laird Noller Ford of Lawrence dealership that Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence was unable to fix the issues and no communication had been established from Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence to their department. Other issues we faced were in obtaining the title and registering in a timely manner. It took us a month to hunt down the title and finally the Laird Noller Ford of Topeka dealership was able to obtain it and get it to us. We received notices from the State of Kansas that we failed to register in 60 days and our bank threatened defaulting our loan because it was impossible for us to get the vehicle inspected and tagged while it was at the dealership. After two months we finally got our vehicle back but its bittersweet because there was no apology from the dealership for the delays or how they handled the repairs. Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence also left the vehicle completely filthy with bird feces down the side of it. (see pictures) I'm a firm believer in leaving something better than you found it. Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence certainly returned our vehicle worst off than how they received it and the small attention to details on how they returned a car, to a paying customer, says a lot about how they conduct their customer service and relationship with customers long term. If Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence is a representation of Laird Noller as a dealership I would highly recommend folks to look for a different dealership to do business to save yourself a lot of the headaches we experienced. Helping or showing any compassion to the customer is long gone once you sign on the dotted line. Customer service should be paramount and constant communication with the customer should be at the top of every service manager's list. I would say from our experience the optics are Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence and Laird Noller Ford of Lawrence are only interested in the sale and not building upon a long lasting customer relationship. This whole experience will certainly cause us to pause from buying another vehicle from Laird Noller in the future and to shop around for a dealership that puts the customer first.
