I really enjoyed my veggie burger and fries, and the girl behind the counter was so patient and sweet about answering my questions about veg options. The food was pretty prompt, and I can't say enough how friendly the service was. The only thing that bothered me personally in anyway was the vegan and vegetarian options not being clearly posted anywhere. It feels like you need to ask to figure out what is, and since they have so many-it'd be nice if they were clearly stated somewhere for people to read! We give restaurants a great welcome in this area, and I waited until things were settled down before trying Dale's. Summary, burger is terrible, fries are pretty good, they don't have enough AC or ventilation on the hood, so you are breathing the fryer, and that is bad for you. They have no idea how to run a restaurant. Very little process, staff is untrained. The cook mashed my burger repeatedly with a spatula, turning it into shoe leather. The bun isn't toasted, even though it was of higher quality. You can customize what condiments on the bun, and I got that correctly. I would never get a burger here again, unless they learn how to cook them correctly. The fries came in a separate paper bag, and they were good. Cooked well, not much salt so I added my own. I want in at 2:30 on Sunday, the place had no customers, but was still hot and full of smoke from the fryer. It was 75 degrees outside. Not enough negative air pressure to keep the grease under the hood I guess? I wonder how often they wash the hood filters? Not often enough is my guess. It is cheaper the Fat Pattie's or S&B, but the burger is far worse. read more

Stopped at Dale's Burger Shack for the first time today. I wasn't super hungry, so I ordered a single cheeseburger and fries. It came out to under $6, which was a steal! There was a longer wait than I expected, but there seemed to be only one person working- he was busting his tail off though and everyone got their food hot off the grill. The burger was really great. Plenty of fresh toppings and a super juicy patty. The fries were great as well, I'm thinking they're cut in-house. All in all, a great meal and good service. They have so many options. I'm excited to get back there and try the Italian beef and cheesesteak. read more

Omg! They have really good Italian beefs! I get mine lightly dipped w/ hot and sweet peppers (add cheese). The fries are also pretty good. I recommend going here when you're craving something greasy and filling. I've tried the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and I am not a fan. Come prepared with at least 4 things in mind to order, because chances are that they'll either be out of stock of the first 2, or the cashier will complain about how hard to make your 3rd choice is. The food is barely above average. The service is an absolute joke. The cashier that takes your order clearly doesn't care about his job or the business and all 3 times I've been there hes had something negative to say about what you want to order. I usually do not go out of my way to write a review. This is especially true of a negative review. The hamburger lacked taste, or thickness, and it was overcooked. Walking into the place there was extremely poor ventilation, it felt old and crusty. I immediately had to take a shower upon arriving home. Finally, the customer service was horrible. This place has pretty good burger and fries, when they decide to be open. Countless times I've tried to call or swing by and they're closed during hours. However last time I got a turkey panini which was pretty good, until it had a nice black hair in the middle of it. Our business was visited by a representative from Dale's advertising that they offer delivery so we thought we'd give it a try. Friday at around 11:45, I tried calling the restaurant with no answer. Seeing as it was close to lunch time, I chalked it up to them being busy. I tried calling back over the course of about 20 minutes which eventually turned from not answering the calls to them picking up the receiver and just laying it down. My assumption is the employee was just tired of hearing the phone ringing and decided this was the best option. Unbelievable. You either increase the staff or stop offering services you can't provide. I ended up visiting the restaurant to place the order. Out of fries. Really??? 12:30 and you're already out of fries? The place is open until midnight! How the hell does a burger joint run out of fries two hours after opening? I received no apologies, no offer of compensation for another items, just a tough sh!t take or leave it attitude. There's plenty of burger places in Carbondale but I try to keep things local. Still horrible service. Called to place a pickup order & was put on hold for over 10 minutes while i drove there. Nobody ever responded. When i arrived at noon, only 1 person was working and she was taking orders, working the grill, answering or not answering the phone, and working the register. I would not recommend this to anyone. I heard about their mozzarella sticks from a coworker and maybe that's just what I should have gotten. I had an order of fries and an Italian beef. My fries were over cooked and also not warm, and the bread was also burnt on my sandwich. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because the trash can was also completely full and it's sitting right in the front. Overall I was very disappointed. Take your money to Burger King, the food there is better. Me and my wife tried to get the burger shack to deliver to us, and they said that they don't deliver. It says on the menu that they deliver???? Ok, so we go and pick up, we ordered 2 double cheese burgers and 2 large fries. When we got home we had two single burgers and 1 fry, we started eating and we realized what they replaced one of the patties with.........., a big nasty human hair. Prepare to get taken to the cleaners! I ordered a double cheese burger with bacon, regular size fries and a regular size drink and it cost me almost $13. NO ONE told me of any meal deals nor was there any on the boards but i found out later there was a meal deal.... just no one cared to tell me. Service sucks and the burger was ok at best, fries were decent home made style (about the only good thing). Sooo basically $13 for ok at best food with bad service and you leave smelling like dirty fryer grease for the rest of the day.... Enjoy!! Me NEVER going back. read more
