I recently tried this new, local Afghan style kabob restaurant. Walked in and waited a while up front (where the previous restaurants in this spot used to greet and seats guests) and after no one showed up, I walked to the back counter and rang the bell. A minute later someone came up. I placed my order, but wanted to know a little more about how they do their chaplee kabob, as it's typically spicey at most places and that's what I prefer. That didn't seem to go well, so I just ordered it and sat down. A few mins later a couple walked it and did the same as me, stood up front. After a minute, I told them they needed to go to the back and ring the bell. (they might want t put a sign up front directing guests to do this). My food came out pretty quick, but rather than bringing it to the table, they call the guests to the back to get it. (I gave a tip when paying, not quite sure what that was for at this point). It looked great, very appealing! The rice tasted the best of everything on my plate. The salad was made with fresh items, but they put Italian dressing on it - very odd as that doesn't match the flavors here. The chick peas side dish was fresh, but not very tasty and the only spice seemed to come from the black pepper in it. The chaplee kabob was pretty salty, definitely not spicey and pretty much on the bland side. Their bread (resembled naan) was pretty nice. During the visit the staff stayed in the kitchen in the back, never coming out to ask how the guests liked the food, check on guests, etc. They definitely need to pick up their customer service a little. Freshness is quite decent, but flavors are bland. I realize they recently opened, maybe they're still working to find what works.

The naan was crispy while soft, and perfect for scooping up the tasty sides (the chickpea and eggplant were our favorites).

They don't have falafel, but I highly recommend any of their vegetable sides. I got the 4 veggie plate and loved everything. They make amazing flatbread that is worth the trip alone. After lent, I still go back and like everything I've tried. They are extremely friendly. And whoever is at the counter will warmly welcome you. They have a pretty simple menu and tap to pay conveniently located on the counter. There is nothing in particular I would recommend as everything I've tried I'd order again. I'm catholic and would recommend the veggie plate during lent. I will say that the drink options are common and basic bottles in a refrigerator. Don't let the plain name in front fool you. This place is worth a try. I don't preorder and have never had a long wait. If you eat in, they offer you warm tea that is really appreciated during winter.

It's a shame I'll never go back!

So, my friend and I decided to share a veggie omelet & a black bean & corn veggie burger. Both were excellent, though the burger was our fave. The burger had such a flavorful chipotle mayo (not spicy); it really complimented the blend of corn and black beans with some guac. Yum! The omelet was quite good, too. The incredible selection of veggies were well-cooked and plentiful - asparagus, red pepper, squash, zucchini, red onion, all tucked into fluffy eggs topped with melted provolone. Yum! We'll definitely be back!

When you walk in there's a counter and stools, not many tables, the place is small and needs a little updating. It was Father's Day and the wait was long. Our waitress was great, knowledgeable of the menu, made good recommendations. I had the shrimp and grits which was good but too spicy for me. Steak and eggs were good, not tough at all. I would return to try other items on the menu
