I arrived just after they opened at 6am and spent the entire day here as my "office." Yes, it was coffee with a bagel to start, a lovely sandwich for lunch and then I was there as they closed for the day at 3pm. No one minded at all. Comfortable seating and great coffee. I started the day with a toasted bagel with cream cheese. I thought it was going to be jalapeno cream cheese but it ended up being cream cheese topped with jalapenos. Okay, different but still good. Lunch was a ham and cheese sandwich that was nicely loaded and served with fabulous kettle chips. Filling and inexpensive. Wifi worked well and the place was quiet enough all day that I was able to work easily. A few Zoom calls here and there, comfortable. I would absolutely return to Dam Cafe. The staff are friendly and the cafe is very community-oriented with flyers for local events and causes. It's a fun place in a college to en of Mount Holyoke. It's a bit bizarre, but it works - everyone is happy and knows each other. You order upfront. They gave us this wierd pink dinosaur to put on our table to know where to bring out the food. While waiting, we both used the ink- potty, clean enough. The bride got a great ham and cheese, and I got the 12-inch streak and cheese: two cokes, tip, $30. I have been criticized for being critical - so here is my view- the people running this place are happy and all in, the food is above average, and as a retiree of 10 years, the price works well. 3.5 stars I've driven by this place a million times and finally stopped in with a friend yesterday and am glad we did. This place was charming. Many tables, sofas or comfy chairs for those who wanted to stay a while and read. A table sort of breakfast bar where you can sit on a high stool and even socialize with others if you care to. The coffee was good and our service was friendly. We paid at the counter and our food was brought to us piping hot. There was a display of fresh muffins and goodies which were freshly baked. I was impressed by my omelette which was so fluffy. My friend ordered a home fry bowl which sounded like it could be a greasy disaster but it wasn't. I was impressed at the lack of oil. We had lunch here on a previous occasion and it was pretty good. Not fabulous, not bad, just good. We decided today to go for breakfast. My favorite breakfast is homemade corned beef hash with eggs. I was in luck! They had it and had not run out! I have never been more disappointed in hash and eggs. Came back to this place after three or so years. I used to frequent it as it was super close to school, and they did a wing special for a pound of delicious boneless wings for like $6. I was thrilled to have another awesome experience after so long. The girls at the counter were super nice, and food is still delicious. I got the chicken cordon blue sandwich, and it was very good. Chicken was slightly dry but tasted great. Veggies were so fresh and I love the house made chips that come with sandwiches. Slight improvements could've been a toasted bun, I'm sure I can ask for this next time, and the sandwich was a little uneven in the construction. Visited for breakfast on a Saturday and was not disappointed. You have to order at the counter when you come in and then have a seat to wait for your food which is brought out to you. Ordered cheese omelet with home fries and a bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. Omelet was fluffy but a little overcooked. Home fries were not what i am accustomed too but were good. Home fries were crispy like they were deep fried as opposed to pan fried . Best part was the bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. Lets just say it was definitely an eye opener. Bagel was soft and chewy and cream cheese had a good bite to it. Plenty of seating and flavored coffee available. I had the toasted cinnamon cashew which was pretty good but a little bitter. There are more choices in the world than romaine and iceberg lettuce. If they are looking to attract a cultured young millennial crowd it will take more nutritional content. What a gem! Had to jump off 91 for a quick bite and so glad to find The Dam Cafe. The sandwiches were made fresh with fresh ingredients and so delicious! Loved the added touch of fresh made chips. I've tried this place 4 different times to try different items and to see if it was just the cook that day, etc. I ordered a sandwich and fries once and the sandwich was difficult to eat, because the bread was too hard. It seemed like it could have been stale. I have also gotten baked goods, which taste days old. I decided to give breakfast a try, and the toast was too hard to eat. I couldn't even bite it. The potatoes were cut into large chunks with no flavor and also very hard. Overall, I have really given this place a good shot, but unfortunately it just misses the mark. Good breakfast sandwich. Nice customer service with ok speed. I don't like their lattes but I keep wanting to. That said, people who like their lattes very sweet will like it. Since I travel, I eat in a lot places and a variety of restaurants/diners/cafes. A friend of mine is local and brought me here. We had a great breakfast. I came back for lunch a couple of times and just enjoyed another breakfast. Coffee is great & fresh. The omelet -- sausage with all vegetables -- was huge and amazing. I know I ate too much but could not stop. The atmosphere is what makes it happen. It is always lively. My friend knows everybody in the place. It is like being in an episode of Cheers at times. The wait staff is always pleasant. In good weather, we can eat outside. It is a nice midday lunch to sit outside in the warmth of the sun and enjoy a good salad.
